Whey are we doing a Crowd funding/Patreon?
I have said it many times I hate ads in the stream of the blog. It just annoys me. Also, my big pet peeve lately is going to a site and having a video ad just spring up from no where and you can’t mute it or close it. It really ruins the reading experience. Lastly, is a site where there is one thing on a page and you have to click through over 10 pages to finally get the list. Our ads are less intrusive. Since the redesign they are all on one side and for companies you guys like and may shop from. So they should be highly relevant to you guys.
Next, is sponsored content. I am not a fan of this. I don’t knock any blog for doing it but I think its not for UNB. The only thing we charge for is a photo shoot for a brand to pay for the cost of the models/photographer. But not to put it on the site. I want you guys to know we are talking about our passion and we’re not paid to promote something we may not like.
We feel that this method of asking our readers is the best way to get additional funding. If you find value in what we do and want to see us improve and move to the next level, then think about donating. I have said it before if we had 25% of readers give just $1 we would have some money to do some great things.
Whats in Patreon for you if you donate?
We are always trying to make our levels rewards better! Here are a few of them.
- All levels get previews of shoots we will be releasing
- Levels over $5 will be in our closed Slack group where you can talk to other Patreon members and the UNB staff. You can talk directly to us!
- Level over $25 you can get a personal underwear recommendation from UNB
- Levels over $50 you get to be on a quarterly Skype/Hangout call with the Editor-In-Chief to find out more about the site and give input/ask questions about the site.
Can I remain Anonymous?
Of course you can! You can go by a pseudonym on the site and through Patreon. You will have to give Patreon your real name and info for payment purposes. However we just see what Pseudonym in our list. If you don’t want to be listed on the site just let us know and we can put Patreon 1, Patreon 2, and etc. We respect your privacy and will never sell or give your info to anyone by joining the Patreon.
What are you doing with the funds from Patreon?
We aren’t going to use this to throw parties and have fun with it. Running a blog the size of UNB costs money. We have hosting costs that we need to cover every month. Also we want to invest in new technology. Such as a video camera to improve our videos. New computer for the blog to aid in video editing and produce the blog. A rainy day fund for when we have issues like in March, the server going down, we can hire someone to fix it. Right now yours truely is the IT director of the site. Granted I have learned a great deal but there are times when I’m stumped. And WordPress and IT professionals aren’t cheap. Lastly, are shoots featuring new models and brands! Some we can have more of a creative spin with and mix brands together.
How do you Donate?
Again, Glad you asked! You can go to the UNB Official Patreon page and sign up. You can put in what ever amount you wish to donate. We have ours set up to do once a month! Its easy peasy.
