We want to say Happy 4th of July! This will be our only post today because we are taking the day off to relax and enjoy some fun. It’s been HOT, not just hot but strip to your undies hot weather. All across the east record temps have been set and the weather is heading west! With that in mind we thought we would give you 5 pairs that you should own in this heat. They will keep you cool and comfy (well as much as you can in 100+ temps).
We looked at pairs that were breathable, fashionable and has a great fit. We think these fit all those categories. Some of these you may have seen others you may not have!
- CoolFlex Active Jock w/ Show-It Tech. by Andrew Christian – This one we chose not because it’s in the new Andrew Christian
Cowboy video but because it’s made from Modal. Modal is a material that is 50% more absorbent then cotton and very breathable. The pouch has the show-it Technology so it will show off your assets. The rear is a traditional jock design so under shorts you can def feel the difference! The jock is available in Black, Royal and Teal and is $25 from the Andrew Christian
- American Jock Action Mesh Sport Brief – Not everyone is looking to wear a jock daily. Hence why we chose the American Jock Action mesh brief. You can look great in the brief styling but also breathe with the mesh material. The front has a great pouch with great racing stripes on the side. The mesh isn’t extremely see through, it’s a bigger mesh and you can probably get away wearing it to the gym. The materials are 88% polyester and 12% spandex. Colors available are Royal, Red, Black and White. It’s available from the Go Softwear site for $23
- Baskit Action Cool Square Cut Brief – We think a variety of styles are key to the perfect summer list. We have big fans of boxer briefs and no list would be complete with out one. This is more of a trunk but gives you great coverage and support. This pair is made out of a cotton mesh and as the Baskit site says “it will keep you cool no matter “action” you are into!” The low waist band makes it perfect under low rise jeans. - Pistol Pete Xpose Brief – We had to put in something super sexy in staying cool in the summer. Hence why we have the Xpose Brief. ATL Briefs just reviewed this one last week on the site (click here to see the Pistol Pete Xpose Brief Review). You think the way the holes are (meaning they are BIG) you would fall out and it would be uncomfortable. However, this pair got a great review and you don’t have to worry about those problems. The holes make it VERY breathable. Worn under shorts you should stay cool all day long. Made out of a nylon spandex blend. But how said cool shouldn’t be sexy! - N2N Bodywear Air Trunk – this last one is my favorite. This one is one I personally reviewed back in June (click here to see the N2N Air Trunk Review)and through at the time it was perfect for summer. The way this pair breathes is AMAZING. It’s so light you barely feel like you are wearing any underwear at all. The one thing that surprised me was that there is no elastic in the legs but it holds it shape! I would actually recommend the entire line (brief, jock, thong). The material is a cotton spandex blend that conforms to your body and breaths very well! Pistol Pete Menswear is proud to be featured in the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed release of Magic Mike the movie. In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, costume designer Christopher Peterson explains how the form-fitting custom designs were essential to the characters in the film, “All of the thongs that are out there are just the most ill-fitting, not film worthy things ever. We tried a million different thongs and none of them worked. So we found this great company called Pistol Pete who custom made all of them. They came in and we found fabrics for them, they printed fabrics for me, and everything was custom made, which took away some of that awkwardness with the fittings.”
Director Steven Soderbergh further elaborates to emanuellevy.com on the costuming by Christopher Peterson and explains Pistol Pete’s key role in fitting and design, “For a patriotic military-themed piece [Christopher] raided an Army Surplus store. But one essential element on which he did not compromise were the thongs, which were custom made in specific fabric and colors, from a company called Pistol Pete. “

This is the 2nd pair from Pistol Pete that I’ve gotten to review. And just like the first they did not disappoint! The super sexy mesh brief is a nylon/lycra spandex blend. The fabric holds it’s shape exceptionally well considering the fact there’s really not much there. The black medium fit me perfectly when I put it on; it took me a few minutes to get used to how they felt and my day began.
This pair was very comfortable for the work day. Lots of sitting at my desk with the occasional walk around through the building. The waistband (which has the Pistol Pete logo front and back) felt great. The reinforced leg openings maintained their grip without pinching, and the pouch front kept everything right where it was supposed to be.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a shy guy. But even I would not normally wear something like this to the gym if I am going to have to change clothes there. But that afternoon I decided to throw caution to the wind and hit the gym after work. Thankfully the gym I go to isn’t ever insanely crowded. The after-work gym bunnies were there, and as I began to change I had a moment of “What the hell are you thinking” before I dropped my pants to put on my gym shorts. I don’t know if I was expecting to hear a laugh track or what, but other than a few inquisitive glances there was really no reaction from any of the other guys around me. I did my workout, and while these briefs aren’t made to “wick” moisture away from the body they did a great job of keeping me air conditioned.
Available in white and black, I love the way these briefs look on the body. The pouch front offers great support and the rear supports the buns perfectly as well. And while I didn’t have the opportunity, I am quite sure that this pair of underwear would spice up any guy’s nightlife, if you know what I mean.

Performing in a musical this weekend, singing and dancing, I decided was the perfect opportunity to try out the Pistol Pete Zone Jock. A little untraditional in the setting, the Zone Jock made of 95% cotton and 5 % spandex held up fantastically, keeping everything in place very well.
Lookwise, the Zone Jock is average for a jock, not much flash, nothing very different looking from any other jock. The efficiency of the pouch is where I’ve found the Zone Jock to really shine. The material is extremely soft and comforting while keeping taut hugging everything very nicely preventing very much movement. No bouncy balls here!
While I have reviewed one or two jocks that have not had an issue with the straps in the back rolling, this seems to be a major issue overall in jocks. Unfortunately, the Pistol Pete Zone Jock continues in this trend. Throughout the show (when not on stage), I found myself rearranging the straps so that they sat properly on the bottom of my cheeks.
At $19 from pistolpete.com and available in two attractive color combinations (navy/sky, black/red), the Pistol Pete Zone Jock is a great buy if you’re just looking for a jock. It’s not fancy, but it does the job of a jock very well at a very affordable price.

Belts have been big in this collection what made you include them on suits?
Pistol Pete’s signature style is the belted swimsuit. We have always been incredibly fond of vintage looks from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s and we wanted to bring that clean sophistication from those eras into each collection.
What suits have been your best sellers so for this season?
Without a doubt, our belted suits such as the Nouveau, Titan, Cruise, and Aviator. In addition, our sporty swimsuits such as the All Star Lace Ups and Jock color block suits are big hits.
What should guys look for when buying new swimwear for this year?
Unique pieces, colors, and prints that truly convey their own style. The colors/prints, as well as, the length of a swimsuit says a lot about a person’s personality.

As we have said this will be swim week on UNB. Our Swimwear Guide coming out later this week! We will show you some of the best swimwear out for the season. This is the Pistol Pete Titan Midcut swim trunk. This pair has a retro styling that is a throw back to the 60’s. Yet, its still very modern. It very much reminds me of a “James Bond” suit. I’ve never bought anything from Pistol Pete, but have heard great things about the brand. So I was very happy to learn I would be reviewing the Rookie Jock Brief. The fabric is 72% polyester, 25% rayon, and 3% spandex. Which makes the pair feel super soft and sexy. The pair I received the royal blue one in a size medium, which sometimes is dicey for me as I tend to run smack dab in the middle of a small and medium in lots of brands.
I wore this jock brief on a regular work day for me, which tends to be pretty active. Sitting at my desk, I loved the way this underwear felt. The waistband was not constricting at all, yet maintained it’s grip comfortably on my hips. As I wandered through the office periodically, I found myself having to adjust the pouch every so often due to the goods shifting around, which I attribute to the stretch of the fabric. The leg straps were not too tight, which I love in a good jock. I don’t think I had to tug on them at all during the day.
I love the colors this jock comes in. Pistol Pete did a great job of using contrast stitching for the waistband and legs. And the width of the the sides is such that from the front you’d never know these were a jock brief, providing an added element of surprise!

The pair I got to review is the Pistol Pete Tease Jock. Having the feeling of support is most important when wearing a jock strap. But having the freedom is also important.
Mostly I have nothing but positive comments to make in regards to this jock strap. First of all, I LOVED the fit. It was very comfortable. At times, it felt as though I was wearing nothing. It was fantastic. The Sheer material was very soft and breathable which I love. The top band doesn’t cut off or restrict your waist. It has a very pleasant feel to it and it also cups your package very well. This Jock Strap feels like you are wearing nothing but yet I still have the support. Also the sheer material keeps you nice and cool down there so you don’t get sweaty as you can with wearing a regular jock strap.
The first and only con I have is that it is made of a thin material so I would be scared for it to rip easily or not being durable. Even though it moves well, if it was to shrink it may rip. But With the material being Sheer and pre shrunk, I don’t think it would rip unless pulled on very hard or getting caught by a sharp object.
Overall, This is a pair of underwear that you can wear daily or wear in sporting events. Just make sure the other boys don’t get too jealous of your jock! I would recommend this to any man that wants to try a jock strap that he can wear with any activity. Or for a man who is just getting into some gear wear. It is so good, that you can wear it wherever and whenever you want!

There is nothing more patriotic than an all American made piece of underwear that only comes in red, white and blue. There is also nothing more patriotic than a great 97% Cotton 3% Spandex jock strap that just screams “please wear me on the playing field.” This strap from Pistol Pete is a true jock that is meant for its purpose, support and comfort!
Wearing this piece for a full day was not as great as I had hoped, however. It is a great piece minus the slight roll which the pouch edge seems to do occasionally. This role causes the sharp edge of the pouch (a striking design from a visual standpoint) to cut into the inner thigh. Once laid back flat, however, the piece returns to its wonderful comfort.
This piece provides comfort, sex appeal, support, and a striking image. Though it may only come in a few colors, it is packed with possibilities. This is a piece of underwear for the American athlete in all of us. A definite must for any playing field. Buy one for the low price of only $18 and play ball!

This marks 15th year anniversary of Pistol Pete. Peter and Sami of partners of 20 years left corporate jobs to start a men’s clothing line. They started with just shirts, then swim and athletic and underwear. Taking their knack of making swimwear more unique novelties and embellishments and applying to underwear.
This being 15-year anniversary Pistol Pete will be launching 15 city promo. Partnering with key stores to do giveaways, fashions shows and more. Magic was a huge success. This year they teamed up with Instinct Magazine to do a Swimwear Fashion show. The show showcased the best in swim from Pistol Pete for 2012. This will help them mark the biggest season ever.
Instead of recreating the wheel, they looked at what’s done well with fits and fabrics. transform new bodies such as singlets tanks and shorts into body-contoured sporty look and fit.
What has done well for them is Power mesh group, A comfortable stretchable soft mesh. Dressed up with sporty lines and racer style elastic band. Another area they have excelled in is Jocks. Everything from wrestler jocks, varsity with bright colors and lace ups and fetish jocks. Black/yellow, black/red and including studs.
Swimwear still doing very strong with novelty belted groups being released this year. These will include various hardware and buckles. New square cut length is going to be released that is a longer length to give a guy who likes board shorts an alternative.
Athletic wear is going to look good in the gym or out. They have tried to make the fabrics are true athletic fabrics, including dry fits and moisture wicking. The athletic will be something fun and fashionable.
The new collection features:
- Swimwear played up on a sexy sporty nautical theme.
- Underwear – Soft fabrics with just a tease of sheer have been great at the sale. Giving a little hit but not showing too much. With comfortable pouches.
- Active-wear – Looks great in our out of the gym.
