UNB Model Profile featuring Philip Fusco

Phil-Fusco-by-Gregg-Homme-Underwear-and-Swimwear-02

Well known male model and entrepreneur Philip Fusco sat down with Kyle at Underwear News Briefs to discuss how this successful model has mixed business and pleasure in his life with Philcity.

UNBKyle:  What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

Philip:  My first modeling gig was for this company called absolute muscle. And I got it through MYSPACE actually lolphilip fusco picture

Kyle:  Myspace?!?! There is a blast from the past!  You would have made it in everyone’s top 8!  What made you want to pursue modeling?

Philip:  The main photographer for that company, Bill Terry kept hounding me until I eventually did it. He really was the one that pushed me.

Kyle:  Bill, if you are reading this, Thank you!  He clearly saw a talent in you.  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Philip:  The shoot that broke me through my career was probably for my first magazine cover for men’s exercise shot by HANS F.

Kyle:  I am sure that you saw yourself on the cover and just thought “wow is this really happening?”  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Philip:  I don’t have any one favorite but my favorite perks of a good shoot are tons of food and usually outside of my home state.

Kyle:  They probably tease you with the food and make you wait until after the shoot to indulge in the deliciousness!  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

Philip:  I shot with Michael Thomas up in the woods in New Hampshire. I had to pose in the middle of a freezing lake, getting stung by a ton of mosquitoes and bugs.  I also encountered a snake I had to avoid.

Kyle:  NO!  A snake?  I would run!  What goes through your mind right before you have to do these revealing shoots?

Philip:  It is not as intimidating as one would think.  I just enjoy the shoot and have fun.

largeKyle:  You have to be comfortable and looks like you have a great attitude to make the most of any shoot situation.  With that, you know we want to know.  Most embarrassing photo shoot situation?

Philip:  I forgot to eat and got so hungry I started shaking.

Kyle:  And with that food you mentioned as a perk, it was probably torture.  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Philip:  I always wanted to do Calvin Klein.

Kyle:  I could see you on a big billboard.  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Philip:  I can be very goofy at times.

Kyle:  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Philip:  Before the shot is taken, sometimes I will do push-ups. I am an avid almond eater during shoots though.

Kyle:  And when the shoot is done and you can have whatever you want…..Favorite cheat meal?

Philip:  MAC AND CHEESE!gregghommephilipfusco002

Kyle:  So we are an underwear site and you have worn a bunch for shoots so let’s see what your style is.  Looking at your underwear drawer, what is it made up of?  % boxer briefs, % briefs, % jocks, % thongs.

Philip:  50% briefs and 50% boxer briefs

Kyle:  And outside of the drawer, what is the craziest pair of underwear you have ever worn?

Philip:  Definitely by Gregg Homme. I think it was called the jewels or something.

Kyle:  Now I know that you have been working hard on your own brand, Philcity.  What can you share with us about this new endeavor of yours?

philcity-picPhilip:  Philcity is a brand based on the lifestyle of Phil and his teachings. It’s active wear but super comfortable being made of bamboo cotton. You will feel like your wearing a cloud guaranteed.

UNB Model Profile featuring Erik White

1147555_624797777552893_1394934437_o

Erik White sat down with us at Underwear News Briefs to show us his portfolio and share some special moments from his experiences in his career and life.

UNB Kyle:  What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

Erik:  My first gig was a bride/groom runway gig at a convention center near Chicago. I modeled groom tuxedos for a designer called J. Toor. It was charity event so I wasn’t paid, but I was glad to gain experience and get a sense of what runway is all about. A freelance, Chicago based, photographer, and also friend, Joem Bayawa, submitted me to J. Toor to walk in the show.

901116_580481585317846_11208229_oKyle:  What made you want to pursue modeling?

Erik:  It was kind of by chance. I’ve heard from some people that I should be a model. This was during high school and college and I always just took it as a compliment. I never actually thought I would pursue it. So I knew I’m not such a bad looking guy ;-). It wasn’t until I ran into Joem Bayawa in public that I pursued it. He was confident that if we built a portfolio together that he could help get me signed. He ended up helping me get signed with Ford Models.

Kyle:  Not a bad looking guy at all!  We thank Joem for adding that extra push.  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Erik:  Definitely the shoots with Joem. They are what got me signed afterall. I didn’t have any previous experience to go off of like some models do. It was pretty simple. We did three shoots to build a portfolio and walked into Ford with no idea what the outcome would be. Then I came out with a contract. It’s an amazing feeling.

Kyle:  Clearly the portfolio won them over and we can see why.  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Erik:  I’m still new so I guess I don’t have any particular shoots that are my favorite. I enjoy all of them. Each one is different and has a different goal or challenge. Shooting with Joem is always fun and comfortable. Shooting with clients or doing test shoots with photographers is fun and you learn new things with every different person you shoot with. I’m always up for a challenge.

Kyle:  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

Erik:  Probably a shoot which involved getting my smile down. Smile is everything in commercial and you want it to be inviting and real. The best way to have great smile is to not think of the smile, but something that makes you happy or laugh. For me, it is my 3 year old who was the ring bearer at my wedding this past summer. He wasn’t enjoying wearing his tux and after walking the aisle with the rings on the pillow, he spiked the pillow and rings down like a football. I wanted to yell TOUCHDOWN! I found it hilarious haha.IMG_72353342419457

Kyle:  I hope someone caught that great moment on camera!  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Erik:  I would really like to work with an underwear brand. Jockey would be amazing. Any clients such as Kohls, Macy’s, Sears, etc would be awesome too.

Kyle:  Well I am sure some brands will be knocking on your door very soon.  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Erik:  Hmmmm how about something interesting. I spent my childhood years in New Zealand and moved back for high school. It was a great and amazing experience. It’s so much different there and of course it’s beautiful. Coming back to the US was a very strange experience for me but I’m glad to being living in the US now. I would love to go visit New Zealand again sometime soon. I haven’t been back since I was 15. Maybe I’ll get back that kiwi accent I once had haha.

Kyle:  Probably would be a great reminder to visit New Zealand as well as eye opening as an adult.  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Erik:  I just make sure everything I eat, I eat in moderation. I love all the “cheat foods” just like everyone else haha. If I go out to dinner and have a big meal then I probably prepared for it and have a protein shake for breakfast and a light lunch. Before shoots I usually just lower my carbs about 2-3 days before the shoot. It helps me lose all that retained water and look more cut in the body and face. For exercise, I lift 5-6 days a week. I throw in cardio such as swimming into it too sometimes. I used to be a big swimmer when I was younger so I love to swim. Plus, it is a great workout!

UNB Model Profile featuring Topher La Fleur

10505054_877188528976621_2945074212041954959_o

The Underwear News Briefs model profiles continue as Topher La Fleur sits down with us and shares some of his portfolio and personality.

UNBKyle:  What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

Topher:  The first show I ever walked in was Mona Lucero F/W 2010. It was a very fun experience, partly because Mona is such an original and creative designer. Working for someone with a vision is always satisfying, and Mona is full of creative vision. Truthfully I can’t remember how I landed that show. I’m sure the friend of a friend told someone to tell me to meet Mona, but all of that is history now.

WInningselfieKyle:  What made you want to pursue modeling?

Topher:  I’m a very naturally outgoing person. I’ve always had a flair for excitement and high drama. In adulthood, that tendency sort of evolved with my body. I’ve always pursued a physically strong body, and modeling became an excellent venue for me. I get to share my passions with enthusiasts all over the world now.

Kyle:  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Topher:  Ironically, it wasn’t actually a “shoot” but rather, “The selfie heard ’round the world.” I entered a selfie contest hosted by XVII Underwear in Houston and won that competition. The timing was nearly perfect, as I had recently achieved one of my fitness goals (weighing in at more than 200lbs). My friends and I still laugh about that particular selfie, but it helped me make my name and I don’t make a habit of regretting anything.

Kyle:  What a great story!  Such a fun way to start your adventure.  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?Screen Shot 2015-01-11 at 10.17.35 PM

Topher:  I am very grateful to Out Front Magazine in Denver, who I actually work for now. They covered a lot of my progress with the competition in 2014, and that summer I was invited to be their August cover model. It was quite exciting. Jay Diers (the photographer) and I went up to a very popular tourist attraction in Denver called Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It’s a really striking natural environment–very dramatic red rocks and scrub oak against an expansive blue sky. Of course, there are lots of people in the park as well. In that setting, I stripped down to my tiny briefs and we got to work. The entire time people were passing by in cars. Mothers were admonishing their children. It was a riot.

Kyle:  Sounds like it!  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

Topher:  I spent a week filming with some very lovely drag queens from Los Angeles, but it was a very rigorous environment. The only things to eat on set were M&M’s, pizza, and energy drinks, which isn’t my normal on-season diet (by any measure). It was also unseasonably wet and cold that week, and we had spent hours and hours in these very, very small jockstraps. There were four of us models on set, all running amuck in our jockstraps, and I think by the end of the week we were all sick and very tired. That said, it was worth it to work with such an excellent calibre of people, and to experience the film world. It’s a very rigorous world–you’ll film for five or ten minutes and then everyone has to change their outfits and set the scene for two hours. I found new respect for actors and actresses. There also isn’t much to do on set. I think the next time I film I’ll bring a good novel to read.
You can watch the antics here.

Kyle:  Yes, that does not sound like the typical diet.  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Topher:  I’ve had the good fortune of working for brands large and small, but in 2015 I’m hoping to travel much more and make many more connections than last year. Alick Alexander in the UK has caught my eye, as well as Good Men Wear in Tokyo. Both brands are very fun and playful, kind of naughty in an innocent sort of way. I’m also quite into the aggressive sports imagery of Papi and Timoteo. To work for their outfits would be a dream. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into fitness this year and I think that the imagery we’ll get back in 2015 will reflect that. I’m still beefing up for the upcoming season and I’ve surprised myself a lot along the way.

10583801_873615659333908_6647235164027300521_n

Kyle:  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Topher:  I think everyone should know that models and bodybuilders are highly intelligent people. The science of fitness and dieting is very difficult. Many people are also quite surprised by my approachability, but I think the perception of the media is that models and athletes, entertainers of any kind really, are unapproachable. That’s simply not true. Some of the nicest people I’ve met are other models and entertainers.
I think it’s also very important to realize that my ambition has taken me this far in the world, but I could never have undertaken this journey alone. An army of people assist me day-to-day, more so on-season than off. I have a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, a sports masseuse, cosmetic dentist, dermatologist, several stylists and brand sponsors who keep me looking on-point, and dozens of small-business owners who sponsor my adventures. Of course, my partner is also my personal trainer, and whenever I have a question about the science of a move or a meal, we dig in and do the research together. From start to finish it literally takes a village of people to get this show on the road.

Kyle:  It’s good to give thanks to those who have helped you brand yourself.  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Topher:  There’s a lot to know about fitness and nutrition, and how to harness both to look your best. For the sake of brevity, I don’t think I can go into very much detail. That said, I’m highly interested in the science of again. I eat to look good, but I’m also equally interested in living forever and ever. I’d say my nutrition supports that goal. We supplement quite religiously in my house, both for performance and physique. On-season, I rarely eat before a photoshoot. The night before you’ll see me scarfing carb-heavy meals, but the day of, I’m very conservative. It’s usually lemon water or nothing, which is one reason I almost always book in the morning or early afternoon. By the end of a long day all I want is a pizza and a cocktail. Which reminds me, I don’t usually drink on season. I’m very restrictive with any sugar on-season, but especially liquor. Off-season, I’m on the see-food diet. If I have spotted it, and it is smaller than a washing machine, it’s likely going in my mouth. Finally, I’ve been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for nearly 13 years. That aspect confounds a lot of people, but I don’t get hung up on it very often. People ask me (with ridiculous frequency), “Where does your protein come from?” I usually have to explain to them that I enjoy more protein in a day than many people enjoy in a week.

UNB Model Profile featuring Justin Leonard

IMG_5909COMPLETE

Underwear News Briefs had the privilege to chat with successful model Justin Leonard on his modeling career, what’s in his underwear drawer, and those moments that he remembers most from his best shoots.

UNB Kyle:  What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?Varsity15b

Justin:  My first modeling job was for Underwear Nation right when I signed with The Matthew Agency. My Agent at the time, Jerad Matthews, who is also the co owner of Underwear Nation asked me to do a shoot for them.

Kyle:  What made you want to pursue modeling?

Justin:  Honestly it was something I never thought I would be doing. My ex girlfriend did some modeling and I went along with her on some shoots and photographers told me I should get into it. I finally reached a point where enough people told me I should do it so I went for it. One of my friends did a shoot for underwear nation and told me I should do it so i told him I was interested. so he sent in some photos of me to Matthew Agency and long story short I went in for a test shoot and ended up signing with them and I immediately fell in love with it.

Kyle:  We would like to thank all of those involved in getting Justin into modeling!  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

tumblr_nf0l4tpJ9s1qj3tbho1_500Justin:  I would say my break through shoot was when I was asked to be on the cover of DNA magazine. I think they were some of my best photos and got me a lot of attention as well as getting my name out there. The next shoot that I think was crucial in my career was when I worked with Chicago based photographer Joem Bayawa. He contacted me and helped me update my portfolio which got me signed with Ford Modeling agency (Chicago branch). That was recently, so I’m hoping on big things through them.

Kyle:  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Justin:  I think favorite shoot was with Joem Bayawa in Chicago because it wasn’t just a shoot, he helped me develop my look, as well as well as coach me on expressions, body language etc… but honestly I have fun on all my shoots. I have been lucky enough to work with some awesome photographers and people so far and haven’t really had a bad experience yet. I have met some awesome people which is one of the things I love most about this job.

Kyle:  It’s good that you have these takeaways and contacts that can help you go far.  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

Justin:  I haven’t really had a bad experience with any of my shoots. I guess if there was a shoot that came to mind that was challenging would be a shoot I did For Merrell. We did a shoot for a winter campaign they did. It was the hottest day of the summer and they had us bundled up in winter clothing gathered around a fire lol but honestly, it was still fun and a great experience and we all had a blast doing it.

Kyle:  Most embarrassing photo shoot situation?10639670_1506564089581947_5010653211384715937_n

Justin:  I wouldn’t say I was embarrassed but it was a shoot where we imitated a shot Adam Levine did where the girl was covering me with her hands. Haha it was difficult at first to stay focused if you know what I mean.

Kyle:  You know I had to put that in here.  Clearly an iconic shot and you did a copycat version very well.  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Justin:  Honestly my dream would be to model for Calvin Klein, Nike, be on the cover of Men’s Health, or GQ. I like to dream big. As far as photographers go, I have had the privilege of working with some amazing photographers and hope to keep doing so.

Kyle:  I don’t think those dreams are too big for you to grab.  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Justin:  hmm… I might do better with some specific questions on this one. Is there any questions people want to know about me? lol I’m bad with this

tumblr_n67qjt1qAK1qcvq4wo1_1280Kyle:  Well a few for the Underwear News Briefs readers, looking at your underwear drawer, what is it made up of? % boxer briefs, % briefs, % jocks, % thongs.

Justin:  My underwear is comprised of briefs and boxer briefs.

Kyle:  We need to get you some more variety! So apart from that drawer, what is the craziest pair of underwear you have ever worn?

Justin:  Haha I would say the craziest pair I wore was a Jockstrap for the Akira Fall fashion Show in Chicago.

Kyle:  Somebody must have felt a little exposed during that fashion show.  As we can see from your portfolio, you wear them well.  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Justin:  I’m always working out. When I’m getting ready for a shoot, it’s usually a couple weeks and so I start doing two-a-days. These workouts are a mix and variation of my own design that incorporates Crossfit, High Intensity Interval Training, Traditional lifting, and different wrestling workouts from my college wrestling days. For my Diet I eat 4 to 6 smaller meals a day and a day or two before the shoot I cut down on my water intake.

Kyle:  And we know you have one, so what is your favorite cheat meal?

Justin:  I would say my favorite cheat meal would be Chicago style pizza or a sushi buffet.

UNB Model Profile featuring Scott Cullens

IMG_9503

In our continuation of the Model Profile Series, Underwear News Briefs sat down to talk about the current career of Model Scott Cullens.

UNB Kyle:  What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

Scott:  My first modeling gig was a television commercial for Bass Pro Shops when I was about 18 years old.  I was wearing swimwear on my first commercial job which is kind of funny since nothing has changed after all these years – I’m still standing in front of the camera with barely anything on!

Kyle:  What made you want to pursue modeling?

Scott:  I never sought to be a model, I have always owned a business and did the modeling on the side.  Modeling is a great motivator to keep in shape and not fall into the habit of becoming engulfed in work and getting lazy.

IMG_9502

Kyle:  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Scott:  I booked more jobs in my 40’s than at any previous time. I hired a trainer and a nutrition consultant/bodybuilding coach when I was first hired to shoot with Mark Henderson.  I decided that I wanted to take my physique to a new level and look the best I had at any previous age.  I was on a mission and I followed the advice of my trainers intensely and it paid off.

Kyle:  You look fantastic so it has definitely paid off!  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Scott:  It is difficult to say which shoot has been my favorite.  I have made so many great friends along the way, met some talented artists and stayed in some amazing cities.  I really couldn’t name one in particular but every one of them, as I think about it now, brought some cool memory, friend or photo.

Kyle:  That is great that there is so much personal that can be taken away from each shoot.  I can imagine the experience can not be described in words.  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

IMG_0200Scott:  The most challenging shoots have been the ones where I was required to be aroused for several hours during the shoot.  The dieting, water and carb depletion makes it just a little tough to be aroused and it is already not a sexual environment.  It’s even more difficult when you are outside and the water is cold, or the sun is blazing or beach sand is in your crack or some other forces of nature are against your weiner and there is no media to view.  This is a silly subject – next question. LOL

Kyle:  What goes through your mind right before you have to do these revealing shoots?

Scott:  The only thing that goes through my mind before a “revealing” shoot is “did I time the diet and water loss correctly.” It’s an exact science and a few hours can be the difference between hot and not.

Kyle:  And how about most embarrassing shoot?

Scott:  Most embarrassing shoot situation was during a video shoot I did with Quentin Elias and Robert Gonzales in Los Angeles. They put us all in silver shorty shorts and made us shake our asses in the camera in unison to the track.

Kyle:  Haha!  That is hysterical but I am sure you were not laughing at that moment, especially with sand in places you didn’t know sand could go!  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Scott:  I have worked with many of the best artists and I am privileged they have included me in their art.  However, there are still a few that I would love to work with and my agents have already either arranged or are in the process of coordinating either work or testing.  I am quite sure I am the world’s oldest fitness model and I will work hard to keep my shit together as long as the interest remains.  We will see what is next but lately I have put more energy into media outside print.

Kyle:  You don’t look like the oldest and regardless of age, you are right there with the rest in terms of physique and ability.  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Scott:  I am not sure there is anything that would surprise my fans.  I do not compartmentalize my life for different social media sites or with my fans.  If you Google Scott Cullens, you will see many of the luxury houses that I built and designed for my company Palm Pacific Construction along with television, movie, and print projects.  All of my posts are public, all of my comments are public, all of my projects are posted public and all of my pictures are public.  I am eager everyday to build things whether it is a house or my body – I love creating.  So I look at everything I create as one big project. I don’t hide anything, I don’t censor my life so I look better to fans, new clients or online readers.  I am a very happy guy and the best gift I can give is to be open and authentic.

522eaa7ce0864

Kyle:  Thank you for that.  We appreciate seeing a man for all he is.  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Scott:  I keep in pretty good shape all year long because I am always only a few weeks away from shooting something.  However, I definitely have a strict carbohydrate, cardio and training routine days prior to a project.

Kyle: And I know you have one so what is your favorite cheat meal?

Scott:  Pizza is my Kryptonite.

Kyle:  What is the craziest pair of underwear you have worn?

Scott:  I was just recently shot in black lace underwear. They looked like girl’s panties on the set table. Once I got them on and squeezed all my assets into them, they looked pretty cool.

Kyle:  Looking at your underwear drawer, what is it made up of? % boxer briefs, % briefs, % jocks, % thongs.

Scott:  I have an underwear fetish. I probably have a couple hundred pairs of drawers, mostly briefs and about 40-50 jocks. Everything in life goes well when you have on good underwear!

UNB Model Profile featuring Chandler Smith

10699099_847087145315755_1424537090_n

Chandler sat down with us at UNB to discuss his modeling career to date as well as share some of his best work he has done.

UNB Kyle:  What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

Chandler:  My first opportunity i ever had to do a photo shoot was one week after the Alabama State Championship Bodybuilding competition in August this year. My friend Michael Muench got in touch with me about 2 days after the show and told me to get back on my diet and meet him in Atlanta in just 4 days haha. It was a simple shoot, just something to try to build up a portfolio. it was there i got my favorite shot so far. The one of me in pink CheapUndies and Pink Under Armour.

858154Kyle:  What made you want to pursue modeling?

Chandler:  Well its something i never thought of doing really. But when i started to get into competing in mens physique, people started to come forward wanting to work with me. So in my mind i thought, its an opportunity i might not ever get again. And i never know what will come of it if i didnt try.

Kyle:  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Chandler:  As of right now it might have to be the first one. Mainly due to the response i got from some of the shots in it. But ive been able to do a couple of others since then but the shots have yet to be released.

Kyle:  It is good to always remember your first jump into modeling.  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Chandler:  Has to be the holiday shoot i did with you guys. It was so relaxed and everyone was having a lot of fun the whole time. Made some great friends that day.

Kyle:  That one was a lot of fun!  Glad you had a great experience!  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

Chandler:  Ill have to say the first one. I had no idea what to expect, or what i was even doing really haha.

Kyle:  I am sure it can be quite a new experience, but that is past you now and you have some great photos in your portfolio.  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not IMG_6904worked with yet?

Chandler:  Id love to do athletic wear, like Under Armour or Adidas. But from the brands ive been fortunate to wear so far, I love N2N Bodywear, and JOR. Still have so many brands to learn though haha. And again with me still be very new to all this im still learning photographers. But would absolutely love to work the FuriousFotog, Golden Czermak. He does some amazing work.

Kyle:  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Chandler:  I kinda built up a reputation among my fellow competitors this year for putting tons of pics of foodporn on everyones Facebook walls every Friday, calling it Foodporn Friday. I went even as far as starting a Facebook page for it haha. I really love food, especially sweets.

Kyle:  Ok, we need to trade recipes in between underwear talk!  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Chandler:  As far as the diet goes, its not as strict as a Competition prep, but it has the same concept. Lots of proteins, low carbs, sodium, and fats. I workout 6-7 days a week. Working different muscle groups each day with about 20-30 min of cardio immediately afterwards each day.

UNB Model Profile featuring Nathan Mckellips

Nathan sat down with us at UNB to discuss his modeling career to date and show us some of his best work.

UNB Kyle:   What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

IMG_0457

Nathan:  My first modeling gig was in 2009. I modeled for a bar that I was working at. Afterwards, the photographer asked me if I would come back and work with him on some projects he had. I went back to work with him and the rest was history.

Kyle:  Sounds like you were in the right place at the right time with that job.  What made you want to pursue modeling?

Nathan:  I had always wanted to pursue modeling since I was a little child. I would see the ads for designers and I knew I wanted to be like models in the clothes.

Kyle:  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Nathan:  I consider my breakthrough shoot, was my first photo shoot in 2009. I consider this my breakthrough because after that shoot I was asked to come back for some projects and that lead me to flying to Orlando for a shoot and runway and then to San Diego to shoot and the snow ball keeps rolling from there.

Kyle:  It’s great that that first shoot has had such an impact on your career and will be one you never forget.  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Nathan:  My favorite shoot was back in 2010. I was on the beach in San Diego. What more is there to love than shooting on the beach.

Kyle:  Very true!  I am sure it was torture!  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?1688938_10152364069226491_6829431375471912057_n

Nathan:  My most challenging shoot was earlier this year. I did a photo shoot with a few dead octopi. The smell was awful, they were cold and slimy and I was barely clothed with them on me. It was a love/hate shoot. Loved the creativity it involved but hated the smell.

Kyle:  I can imagine.  Probably not what you thought you would be modeling with but a great picture was the outcome.  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Nathan:  YES!! I would love to work with Armani, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Some of my favorite photographers that I would love to work with is Nigel Barker or Angelo Sgambati.

Kyle:  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Nathan:  I actually have a degree in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry. I also spend the summer of 2012 exploring China. Ni hao!

Kyle:  That is a very impressive degree.  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Nathan:  If I have to show abs, then I go vegan for a week before the shoot. It cuts out all excess lower pooch. No drinking and lots of rest.

UNB Model Profile featuring Michael Muench

unbfall14-17

Fresh face Michael sat down with us at UNB to discuss the beginning of his blossoming modeling career!

UNB Kyle: What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

Michael: My first modeling gig was actually here at Underwear News Briefs.  That is where I got my start.

Kyle:  We love discovering new talent.  What made you want to pursue modelingIMG_20141111_074003?

Michael: I love working out and said why not get paid for it. Also I can bring more attention to the real heroes veterans and military.

Kyle:  It is great to see veterans showcasing different sides to who they are.  Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Michael:  Again, since Underwear News Briefs gave me my start I feel that they are my breakthrough gig.

Kyle:  Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Michael: Everything I have done so far with Underwear News Briefs has been fun.  The set is very relaxed.  We have great laughs and it is a lot of fun to work with everyone on those sets.

Kyle:  Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?

Michael: Every shoot I have done tends to be a challenge because you have to get comfortable with everyone and warm up to everyone around you.

Kyle:  Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Michael: I would love to work with furious fotog.

Kyle:  What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Michael:  I’m just normal guy. Lol I watch anime, play pokemon, go to college, most of my Friends are military or veterans.

Kyle:  Down to earth and normal!  We love that!  What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Michael: I do cardio every morning first thing, and work out everyday. My diet right now is mainly high protein, moderate carb, and low fat since I am trying to gain lean muscle mass.

Underwear News Briefs has had the pleasure of teaming up with various models and photographers throughout the years, showcasing their work across our site.  To continue showcasing these great artists, we are doing a series of profiles each week to allow you to continue to get to know these great people, their lives, and their work.

This week’s model profile features Derek Yates.

DerekYates-RickDay3

Derek sat down with us at UNB to discuss his modeling career to date and show some of his best work.

UNB Kyle: What was your first modeling gig and how did you come to get it?

Derek: I don’t really remember my first gig, per se, but my first photoshoot I guess would be by a local photography at an agency in my hometown that I was working with at the time to work on my modeling and acting skills before going to some competitions. They were just simple test shots.  I consider my first REAL photoshoot to be with Ethan James based in Murfreesboro, TN. He has a great artistic eye, and has a way of using a small space for all his models and making it seem new in all of his shots while making his models just look so good.

DerekYates23

Kyle: What made you want to pursue modeling?

Derek:  I’ve always thought modeling would be a lot of fun. You get to have the opportunity to meet so many fun people, travel a little bit, and a chance to portray a type of acting in still shots, which is another part of my career. I consider myself still at the start of my career, and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Kyle: Which shoot do you consider your breakthrough in your career?

Derek: As mentioned before, I feel my shoot with Ethan James was the kickstarter for my modeling career. It was the first round of pictures I had that came across super professional, which made me look professional. So I was able to use them to help market myself to start getting more and more interest, while gaining, for the lack of a better term, a fan base.

Kyle: Which shoot has been your favorite? Why?

Derek: I wouldn’t say any were or were not my favorite. Each has had its own flair, with different setups, different clothing (or lack there of), different photographers, and all for various reasons. I’d like to say I’ve learned something from each shoot that I have done that has helped me become a better model. So with that said, they are all my favorite for that reason.

Kyle: Which shoot has been your most challenging? Why?DerekYates12

Derek: None of my shoots have really been all that challenging I’d say, as far the shoot itself. The challenging part to any shoot, if you are doing anything that shows off any part of your physique, is just making sure you look your best. That means keeping up with my fitness regimen as well as being on point with my diet, and both at times have had their difficult moments for one reason or another.

Kyle: Are there any brands or photographers you would like to work with that you have not worked with yet?

Derek: The first thing that popped in my head was Calvin Klein. I dunno, there’s something about being able to say you were a big header (no pun intended) for Calvin Klein’s underwear brand. That’s not to say any other brand is bad, or not as good. It was just the first thing that popped in my head because I recently was talking to a model friend and it got brought up as being on our “Modeling Bucket List.”

Kyle: What is something that your fans don’t know about you outside of modeling that you want them to know?

Derek: I’m fairly open about what my life entails through social media. The one thing that seems to get lost in the cracks with my fans though is that I am the co-founder of 1N3, which is a non-profit my mother and started to raise awareness about the consequences of drunk driving after my brother was killed 3 years ago by a drunk driver. Our general mode of operation is going to different events, school, functions, etc. and presenting our story in hopes of impacting people to think more about their action, and that your choices matter. We pull his wrecked van on a trailer for people to see the impact first hand in that way also. The biggest factor to our non-profit is that after choosing to forgive the woman who killed my brother, we then brought her on our team after being released from prison to come and be a part of our presentation, which has made an even bigger impact since then when people are able to hear her story and see how we all work together for the same goal of trying to make our roads safer for everyone.

Kyle: What kind of diet and exercise do you do to prepare for shoots?

Derek: I am the first to admit that I am still very much a newbie, in a way, when it comes to things like this. I learn something new almost everyday it feels like when it comes to fitness and diet. My journey has been long, but rewarding the sense of discovering new things about my body, how it works, and what it wants. Each person’s body is different, and it is all a science as far as how to prep for a shoot vs. doing your normal workout and diet. Like I said, I’m still learning, and I would hate to give improper advice, BUT, recently, what I’ve seen that has worked for me as of now is starting to cut out carbs a few days before as well as water to try and clear up any bloat and in attempts at tightening everything up as much as possible, plus upping my cardio a bit more a few days before as well to try and burn off just a bit more unneeded fat.

You’ve already seen hunky Montreal model Francois in the new Nasty Pig Mash-up underwear we launched last week, but now you can see even more of him in his extended gallery of 28 hi resolution photos.

Francois had recently been traveling the world and was heading home to Montreal with a stop in Toronto. We met him at our booth at the Church Street Fetish Fair and thought he was handsome, but it was when he turned around and we saw that incredible ass of his in his tight jeans that we called him back and asked him to model.

Francois is ruggedly handsome, a bit hairy in places and is 39 years old. Check out him on the Jockstrap CentralWebsite.

How did you get started in modeling?
Actually It kinda came to me because I own a graphic design business and got my first job from that. However, I got into the fitness modeling industry via Olympia 06’s World’s Fittest Model contest, as a top 15 national finalist… And it all came from takin a chance when I felt inadequate. It just happened to work out to my favor! 🙂 Just take the steps and hope the ground will be there… Kinda CHULo5_55x85_postcardlike Indiana Jones, Last Crusade movie.

When did you start modeling Underwear?
My first underwear campaign was with www.VIZEAU.com and I’ve continued to work with them since… Such good people! 🙂

Is modeling underwear harder or different from modeling clothes?
Yes it kinda is… Cuz you have to have your body fit on top of doing poses and such you do anyway with clothes on lol

What companies have you worked for?
OMG… You’d have to see my resume on www.JMIAH.com for that answer… I don’t have enough space on here for that one… But I can name some print campaigns that stick out a bit: www.Vizeau.com , www.4Boysgear.com , Chulo Wear, Bgreen, Hempwear, and several more… Fun times! I LOVE working with great hearted, nice people!

What was the best time you had on a shoot?

I always have a great time shooting, but ESPECIALLY when the photographers are really cool, down to earth people and not divas DaggerTop2ToneLtBlue374x560ya know?! haha

What is your favorite underwear?
I’ve liked ALL the brands I’ve modeling and really cant wait to do more companies for new things… The brands I’ve worked with have really taken care of me so I don’t run out of samples to wear! Haha gotta luv that aspect of modeling! 😉

Any shoots planned for the future?
Actually yes… Im doing some more diverse stuff to keep my portfolio and resume stretching beyond the same ole same ole… Oh YOU will see too! 😉 I also do a LOT more work with Diabetes awareness now because I’ve been Type 1 diabetic for over 20yrs now.

Where can our readers find you?
They can find me on www.JMIAH.com or twitter @JMIAHONLINE but all the links are on my website!

Hot new model Maurice Lombardo is the embodiment of an Italian/Greek god… and if that isn’t enough… photographer Peter D. Brown (www.peterdbrownphoto.com) did his first shoot for DMK-Designs in their new hot new Y-Back and Jock designs! With a Sicilian background his dark curly hair frames a classically proportioned face -with ice-y blue green eyes…. And, talk about a god-like physique! -we’re glad to see him in the new Jock and Y-back designs – so you can appreciate every muscular curve of his anatomy! The pouch has a unique sculpted design engineered to support, project and visually enhance the package! The black stretch strap fabric has great support strength, but -its unusually soft against the skin… You feel like you’re more naked. When Maurice first put the first jock on- he commented that it felt “a little different” -(unfamiliar) and then he soon said -he really liked how they felt! (a quick convert!)… You can check out more images of Maurice in these styles at: www.dmk-designs.com
And, coming soon some hot new shots of Maurice!

Up-and-coming male model Tomas Skoloudik already has been seen in far too many venues to mention in full, but they have included runway work for Gucci, an advertising campaign for “The Gap”, and appearances on the cover of Men’s Health and Style:Men. This is in addition to extensive appearances in print and television advertising in Asia in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Born in Pilsen in 1985 in the west Bohemian area of the Czech Republic, when he was 18 Tomas was encouraged by friends (who were obviously impressed with this young man’s stunning good looks) to spend a week at a modeling school. Afterwards, he travelled to Prague and was quickly signed by an agency. After working in the Czech Republic and Milan, he moved to New York last year and just settled into a new apartment in Hollywood, California last week.

During last week’s International Jock shoot, Tomas wore underwear and swimwear from DKNY, C-IN2, JM of Canada and Bjorn Borg. After the shoot, International Jock’s John Sievers had an opportunity to ask Tomas a few questions about himself:

What sports do you play?

My favorite sport is soccer, I played from ages 11 – 18. Now I play tennis whenever I can find the time.

How many times a week do you go to the gym?

Every day for about 40 minutes

Your Favorite Foods?

Chinese and Japanese. I love sushi.

Most models have a career that lasts just 10 or 15 years. What are you doing to prepare for your life after modeling?

I’m studying acting and business and economics and eventually hope to work in the business of show business. I’m also studying metaphysics – how the mind processes things – and believe that it will help me achieve success in the business world and also in my personal relationships.
