Cocksox-Swimwear-Sonar-Camo-Swim-Thong

Butts, we all have one. But is your butt beach worthy? Recently I was provided with a Cocksox Sonar Swim Thong with the assignment of wearing it in public. Some of you may not know that I live in Chicago, where we have a great gay-oriented beach, where yes… thongs are allowed.

Traditionally the only thongers you would see on the beach are older gentleman with skin tanned to a nice leathery tone. But I was going to do it! I arrived at the beach earlier than I would normally go, around 9:30am. I personally only wear speedos on the beach, so I of course came to the beach with the thong on, under a speedo, under shorts. I quickly disrobed down to the speedo and laid down on my chair. After surveying the people one the beach I managed to shimmy off my speedo to just the thong underneath.

Nobody even turned a head. I breathed deeply.

The feeling was freeing, I felt breezes all over my body. I laid here for an hour or so before I got up the courage. Up to this point you couldn’t tell I was wearing a thong. I had come to the time where I needed to flip over and let the sun shine on my pale butt.  In one swift movement I turned over and the sun was shining on my exposed butt.  A few people on the beach glanced over, but the world didn’t come crashing down! I spent several more hours work on my tan and made a morning of it!

Since my first beach thong day, I have been back many mornings. I don’t wear them intentionally around friends, but I find they are great for a good early morning all over tan. Here are some tips for first time thongers!

  1. Check local laws and regulation to see if a thong in public is legal. If not, it’s time to find friends with pools.
  2. Make sure you manscape for the thong, they tend to be smaller, lower rise and tighter!
  3. Apply sunscreen liberally, your butt is probably VERY PALE and shouldn’t be burnt!
  4. Have fun and don’t care about the haters!

When picking out the thong, you are going to want to keep in mind the following.

  1. It must fit! Keep in mind that you might need to size down, since your butt size is no longer a factor.
  2. Make sure the pouch fits, whether it’s a flatter style or something more enhancing like the Cocksox Sonar Swim Thong. I personally would recommend something with a shaped pouch, which keeps the goods in check better and lowers the chance of run-aways.
  3. Don’t pretend you are in Baywatch on the beach. You might hurt someone.

Have fun!

organize-undies-drawer

There are as many ways to organize and underwear drawer as there are pairs to buy. This has been a debate on the site since it was created. How you organize your drawer or in most of our cases drawers is just as personal as the underwear buying process.

We are going to cover a few of the more popular ways to organize your collection:

Organize by Style

One popular way is to keep all of one style together. This is great for a guy who has a wide collection and wants to easily find a pair. It may not be good if you want to organize a big collection of just briefs.  Some guys I have talked to put briefs, boxer briefs and jocks all in different drawers.

Organize by Brand

Do you have multiple brands? Or Do you have a favorite brand? This way of organizing your undies all your brands together so you don’t have to search for a favorite brand. All of your 2(X)ist or N2N Bodywear are in your top drawer.

Organize by color

Are you a fan of color? Do you match your underwear with what you wear? This organization style would allow you to find that perfect shade of blue.  This will allow you to find any color you need fast. You can organize by colors of the rainbow, from red to purple. That’s not the only way, you can put your favorite colors together. This is endless

Organize by favorites

Do you have several favorites you like to wear over other pairs? You can put those in front.  This method allows for you to do some of the other methods above as well. You can organize favorite by color, brand or style. It doesn’t have to be just one way to organize your undies.

No organization

Or you can do the opposite and just throw all your undies in a drawer and pull out what ever you grab. This I know would drive certain of our reader’s crazy. But we do have some guys who do just this or pull it our of the clothesbasket and rarely put it up.

The way I organize my drawer is basically, Organize by Favorites. I have several drawers of underwear. I think I have over 300 pairs. The top drawer is the ones I love wearing the most. The drawer below it are those that are just ok, I have no strong objection but just not ones the fit me really well. The bottom drawer are older pairs, may not be in fashion right now but I still like them. This isn’t all I do, I then have those large storage bags in the closet for those pairs that I have yet to go through and don’t like to wear. If you could see how much undies I have in the closet.

How do you organize your underwear drawer? Do you use one of these methods, a combination or another method

unbtim-brief-tale

I admit it, I am an underwear addict. If there were a meeting for Underwear Anonymous I would probably be the president of the local chapter.  But, I don’t think it’s a problem. I mean I have over 400 pairs and love getting new underwear.

I would say my love of underwear went back to childhood. In second grade I remember getting this pair of blue briefs with bright red trim and loved them. There was something about them that from that day forward I wanted to have different underwear.

Growing up I was really shy. I mean painfully so, that I rarely talked to people I didn’t know. This progressed into my teens as well.  This is when I discovered bikini briefs. The first time I saw Jim Palmer wear them I knew I had to have a pair. Here was a mainstream jock in undies that weren’t tighy white. It really turned me on to go by the first pair on a family-shopping trip. I got all the courage I could to get a pair, go to the register and pay for them. My heart was racing, what would the cashier think, what if someone saw me with them, how would I get them home?

I ran to my room and put them on and they felt amazing. I was wondering where had this underwear been all my life. It felt so amazing. I would let my collection grew to about 10 pairs before my family found my stash. It seemed the world ended but no one in my family cared and from them on it was up to me to get my undies.

As I said during this time I was super shy. One reason I think I got different undies was to express myself.  Most guys were still in those tighty whities, that you get six to a pack. But I was sporting red, green or pink bikinis on a regular basis. It made me feel a bit more confident. However, I never let anyone see them in HS for fear of the hazing in gym class. Which looking back no one would have said anything? There were several guys in the locker room that wore bikinis and it was a non-issue.

These were the days in the gay world I could be called a Twink. Which is I was a tall thin kinda preppy boy. I was 6’4” at 165 with a 31 waist. I could wear anything. That changed and when I hit 27 my metabolism slowed and I went form 165 in my 20’s to 302 in my early fourties and a 42 waist. I was super frustrated that I rarely got great undies. I made up my mind to change that, over the course of the last year I have lost 75 pounds and kept it off.  My goal is to go down to around 200 pounds. My current waist is between a 36-38. I can wear great undies but my undies still make me feel awesome.

Flash forward to today. My confidence and underwear companies are up. I turned my love into a blog that is showing guys undies are fun and always should be. I’ve always been the go to guy my friends talk to about what undies they should buy, even before UNB. I love giving advice and hope to be doing the blog for many years to come

My name is Tim, I’m an editor of an underwear blog, have over 400 pairs of underwear and an underwear addict.

By Cocksox

Great underwear is underwear that makes YOU feel great. It’s as simple as that. And that means comfort is key.

As far as Cocksox® is concerned, comfort is the number one priority for making great underwear. We put a lot of time into designing the pouch, choosing the best fabrics and ensuring every Cocksox® garment is as awesomely comfortable as we can make it. The pouch is supportive, the high tech fabrics feel great against the body and the shape keeps your boys well presented all day long.

Comfort is super important BUT it’s not the only consideration. As well as feeling great your underwear has to make you look great too.

Cocksox® underwear has an advantage over other brands in that they keep your boys looking their best even when they’re under your regular pants. You don’t have to show them off for you to look great. No one will know you’re wearing them but you’ll be looking better and feeling awesome. Now surely that’s great underwear 😉

By Joe Snyder

At Joe Snyder, we believe that feeling great begins with underwear: it is the most intimate item you wear;  the first thing you put on and the last thing you remove. Underwear is probably the single most functional garment you put on every day and one of the most important factors that determines whether you feel comfortable with the rest of your clothes or not.

Another very important thing to consider when referring to “what makes great underwear” is support. This is the reason why since 1977, Mr. Snyder started creating men’s underwear as, in those days, men’s undergarments were only covering men’s anatomy, failing the objective: supporting men’s virility. All the Joe Snyder’s collections are ergonomically designed.

Great underwear is simply the one that makes each person feel comfortable, confident, and sexy and this depends on the type of fabric used as well as the cut, style, color, support, etc. Joe Snyder knows that the world of men’s underclothing has come a long way in recent years, and today you can find contemporary styles to suit even the most discriminating tastes.

JOE SNYDER is known for its unique style and versatility. Because of the superb quality products, JOE SNYDER’s garments are both, lightweight and very comfortable to wear. All the JOE SNYDER’s garments are made from 80% Polyamide 20% Spandex Lycra ® that fits like a glove and provides excellent male support.

Today, in Joe Snyder we use our extensive experience to produce exactly what men want: not just underwear and swimwear, but the sensational feeling of comfort and exhilaration you get when you wear a garment from our wide range of products.

The Joe Snyder product line makes use of the best fabrics, which are guaranteed by DuPont ® and supported by the Lycra ® label, so whenever you get a fresh, new, exciting Joe Snyder you know that you are getting a top of the line product which is manufactured using our extensive knowledge regarding what men want and by using the most modern technology available.

Our mission is to transcend fashion by creating a distinctive environment that allows clients to express their individual style and uniqueness with designs, colours, and fabrics that match their image. The success of the Joe Snyder range of products is its points of difference with its unique Exclhom (exclusive for men) design and unique Polyamide / Elasthan fabrics.

By Timoteo Ocampo – Chief Creative Designer, Timoteo & CellBlock 13

“A great pair of underwear starts with a great design.  Period.  The design can be inspired by color, shapes, fabric, the male anatomy or anything visually inspiring that translates to design.  Every new idea must be unique with qualities that appeal to that particular garment.

Today underwear is a fashion statement.  Its not just about the “3-pack” your mom bought you as a kid.  When every guy is stripped down to his very last piece of clothing, its the underwear that is making the statement.  Guys want that once piece to be something they connect with because of the look, the design and and how it shows off their best assets.

Every pair of underwear I design is influenced by so many things around me.  How guys live out in the world. Some are more conservative.  Some more fashionable.  Some guys live in athletic wear all the time and some like street wear.  Each are unique and their is a design that is right for them.  There are so many possibilities that keep emerging year after year.  The sizes and shapes of their bodies.  Its my job as a designer to find out what qualities are important in the designs they wear.  Some guys like color.  Some guys like certain fabrics. Some guys like design techiques to enhance their anatomy and show off their best assets.

Choosing the right fabrics, top notch construction and a perfect fit are the critical steps to design a great air of underwear.  Design, fit, fabrication and construction are the ingredients to create a great pair of underwear that pleases the customer and gains their loyalty.  The best part of my job is seeing a happy customer looking and feeling his best in one of my designs.

We manufacture everything in the United States and do this as a way to have control over the quality of the product.  Most companies that produce overseas have the same companies design their merchandise that produce it.  We feel like this robs the customer of such a unique piece of clothing.  PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA is on every garment we ship.  And yes, there is pride in knowing that people come back to my designs because we are consistent with our fit.  They like our designs.

Each one of our waistbands is created by myself and our graphic team in house.  Another detail we don’t leave to someone else.  The waistband is a framing device to showcase an original new design.  A place to explore the junction of creative design and the limitations of the manufacturing process that goes into making a classic waistband.

Everything I design comes from a very personal place.  Having been in business for more than a decade and hearing and seeing how customers respond is an amazing affirmation for my job.  The advent of social media is an immediate billboard and feedback for people to tell you what they think by snapping a picture or posting a comment.

I love my clients.  I am inspired by my clients and more importantly I love being a fashion designer.”

By Andrew – N2N Bodywear

For me, it’s always been about comfort, style  and of course FIT!

Ok, and the pouch! Anyone who knows me and N2N for the past 16 years knows I’ve never shied away from showcasing the male package. From an early age I was always curious and slightly annoyed at the need for mens fashion, specifically underwear and swimwear, to camouflage and essentially squish men’s genitalia. Even before N2N was conjured up, I created swimwear for myself that satisfied my own desires…a sexy suit with a good pouch!. Flash forward, the N2N of today has come a long way from when I was affectionately known as the “thong guy”.

Besides all that, I think the fact that for the past 16 years, N2N has been made in Los Angeles, CA is pretty unique, especially now when MOST companies outsource.  In the world of mens underwear, It’s nice to be in the minority!
We support the local economy and proud to be U.S MADE!

As I approach the 5th year anniversary of UNB it has me thinking of where we came from when the blog started. Our readers were mainly self identified gay as was the entire staff of UNB. We had a small but loyal following and each year the audience has grown. Flash forward to the readers today. We have more self identified straight guys reading the blog.  Then we got some really great straight staff members. It’s surprised me in just 5 years the underwear market has changed so much.

I have always run UNB as middle of the road. I have the feeling regardless of sexual orientation all guys need great undies. Being gay I think it’s a given we love great underwear. We want to feel good and look great. Also we want our partners to look sexy as well. How many times have I met a guy, seen his underwear and went, “no I don’t think so” and introduced him to great undies? More times then I can count. Then when I talk to the guys years later they are still wearing good undies. I think this is more of a public service to ban the bad underwear of the world. I do what part I can! But, with straight guys, why would they like underwear? Well, except for the seeing your partner in them, it’s the same. They want some great support, having a great fit and look good wearing them.

The future growth in the men’s underwear market is straight guys. The potential is huge for every company involved. I have talked to most companies and they all realize this and are starting to go after this market. Some have changed their marketing while others are just starting too. This is not to say gay guys will be left out. This is not a warning the end is coming but a new beginning. There was a recent article that said underwear companies were toning down their advertising and making them to appeal to a regular guy. What does that mean? The article said they were showing less bulge, having more sedate ads and not trying, for a lack of better words “gay up” the ad.

To me this is the wrong way to go. I have had several conversations with some of our straight readers and contributors and this is not an issue with them. They want to see how the underwear actually fits. So companies don’t need to shy away from showing the underwear. The companies are taking the sexiness out of the underwear. Let’s face it gay or straight we both want to feel sexy in our underwear. If you go this route, then whats the point of doing away with the six pack underwear at the local big box store?

Proof that guys don’t mind pictures is our very own Brief Distractions. When I first put them in I wondered if it would potentially scare off straight readers. But I think it has has the opposite effect, I have received more email regarding the pictures from the straight readers then gay. Most guys know underwear is sexy and they don’t mind seeing great pics of underwear!

It’s going to be an interesting and exciting future for men’s underwear.

Men’s Underwear market today is constantly changing. There are always new brands coming into the market and established ones releasing new lines. It seems it has been this way forever. But just back 40 years ago it wasn’t so much fun in the underwear market. There were very few choices for a guy. Mainly it was a choice between boxers and tighty whities. Granted the tighty whities came in colors but the two styles were all there were for the general mass market of underwear shoppers. If you were in the know you could find other things in catalogs and in magazines.

There have been several pairs over the years that just changed the men’s underwear market. We have broken them down into a few categories and feel these brands really broke barriers in the men’s underwear market and either left a mark or changed the way men’s underwear was perceived by the mass market.

bike-10-jockstrap

Jockstrap:

Today it seem standard that most brands have a jockstrap. But back in the day jocks were used by athletes.  There seems to be some debate about when the jockstrap was invented, but Wikipeida says the Bike #10 Jockstrap was invinted in (year). This is the most classic jock. The Bike #10 has the classic 3 inch waistband, mesh pouch and inch leg straps were the standard for decades. It was the form all other jocks we have today are built on. Without the #10 Jock we wouldn’t have the jocks we know today. Bike just announced they were discontinuing this style

Bikini Briefs:

Bikinis are another mainstay in the the worlds of men’s underwear. They go in and out of fashion but they are always there. So, it’s hard to think of a time when we didn’t have them. The pair we think influenced the men’s market  the most are the Jockey Elance Bikinis. You may remember the ads with Major League Baseball’s Jim Palmer molding them. This was in the late 1970’s-1980’s when you rarely saw men in their underwear in ads. Here was a major athlete wearnig neither the boxer or tighty whitie. His presence in the ad let more guys to try bikinis then ever before. He did a series of ads that featured several styles of bikinis from Jockey. Jockey opened the door for something other then a plain brief.

first-calvin-klein-ad

Fashion Briefs:

Fashion briefs are ones that look like tighy whities but made to fit a guy and the way he’s built. Calvin Klein did this in the 1980’s. Their iconic ad of the guy in white briefs leaning back against the stone made guys stand up and take notice. That underwear was indeed sexy and should be made to fit a guy. The classic CK briefs were not only available in white but they made them in a rainbow of colors. Even a purple pair made it into cinematic history, with Michael J. Fox wearing them in “Back to the Future”  CK’s marketing effort really put underwear in the public’s eye. I would say this was one of the reasons men’s underwear expanded in the 80’s. No longer is shopping for undies relegated to catalogs, it came front row center and to major department stores.

$(KGrHqJ,!oIFGvmRIfqrBRysI)ZLtg~~60_35

Thongs:

Thongs are not for everyone. They have been around in the fetish market for many years. But none of them ever crossed over into the main stream until the 2(X)ist Essential Thong. This thong is also known as the Y-Back thong. It was released in the (year) in major department stores. This was the first time I remember thongs being in general public. 2(X)ist embraced this and made underwear that was comfortable and fashion forward for the time. The thong has a basic brief waistband with a pouch and then a y-design in the back. It was also an innovation in the thong arena that influenced thongs since. You see other designers who were influenced and had their own take on it. I tried but couldn’t find the original package pic by David Morgan.

calvin-klein-marky-mark-underwear-ad

Boxer Briefs

CK is the only brand on our list twice. The boxer briefs were released in the 90’s (? check date). It was a hybrid of the boxer and the brief. When it was first released there were many questions, “What is it?” but CK created an advertising campaign around Marky Mark aka Mark Walhberg. You may remember it, he was grabbing his crotch in the ad. When they were first released I don’t think anyone could have known they would take off and still be one of the major styles in the market today. Boxer Briefs from CK were only available in the classic White, Black and grey with a 1 inch waistband. These definitely made brands take note and create new hybrids of underwear.

DSC_0010

Jock  Brief

One of those hyrbrids that have gained massive popularity is the Jockbrief. Which is just as it sounds you take a brief with a jock backgroun. Many have come out with them over the last few years but the first company to do it was Baskit. They created the Ribbed Collection Jockbrief. At the time when it was released many kind of gave it that turned head look, “What is this?” But Baskit created a pair that the public loved. Guys couldn’t get enough of the pair. It was available in (colors). This ground breaking pair is still being sold today. Baskit took a risk and it paid off big, which is what you have to do in the world of fashion. Within the year other brands followed suit and created their own versions of the jockbrief. I think one reason it took off was that from the front it was a brief, but the back made you feel a bit naughty. If you were wearing in jeans a large jock waistband wouldn’t show over the top, most would think you were wearing a brief. Now we have jocktrunks, jockboxers and more!

These are six pairs that changed men’s underwear. These are the ones we feel did it. Do you agree or disagree with the list. You can let us know by leaving a comment here, on Facebook or Twitter. What other categories would you have indluded

In the history of UNB there has always been an interest in fetish wear. It allows us to get have a lot of fun with our underwear and not be so plain and boring. I have heard of many guys wearing these to work, but these are more for fun nights out when you definitely want people to see your underwear.

We are profiling 5 companies that are in the fetish space that you need to know. They are doing some really great things in the fetish space and do some really amazing and fun stuff.

nasty-pig-fetishwearNasty Pig

Nasty Pig has to be one of the brands synonymous with fetish wear. They are best known for their jocks. As you can tell they really take the jock to the next level and don’t just make simple jocks. Some of the jocks they have crated are:

  • Pattern Jocks like the Systematic Jock ($25.00 in center)
  • Fetish materials materials such as rubber with the Rubber Jock ($35.00 on right)
  • They haven’t forgotten traditional jocks with the more simplistic like the Take Down jock ($22.00 on left) in yellow.

They have ventured outside of jocks to other underwear including briefs, trunks and long johns. To find these and more styles shop the Nasty Pig Site – http://www.nastypig.com

Slick-it-up-fetishwearSlick It Up

If you’re looking for HOT with not much left to the imagination then Slick It Up is just for you. I have known about this brand for quite a few years. They haven’t ever hit the mainstream but I think that’s because it’s not something you could wear every day. Like I mentioned above it’s made to be seen or worn in a bar or club. They make hoods, pants and body suits in spandex that looks like leather and rubber.  Some of their gear is:

  • The Cobra ($34.00 on left) a thong hybrid. It’s a half thong with a pouch.
  • The Gladiator Trunk ($42.99 in the Middle) is a large mesh brief that is totally see through.
  • And lastly  is the Scropio suit ($134.00 on right) that is cut shot in the arms and legs and mesh on the side.

If you are shy you may want to not check them out. They are made to show off EVERYTHING. They make some really cool gear! Find Slick It Up at their site – http://www.slickitup.com

modus-vivendi-fetishwearModus Vivendi

Modus Vivendi has marched to their own drummer since their inception. They have never been afraid to make underwear that feature their Greek Heritage. Modus Vivendi has done some really fashion forward underwear in their day and they will continue to do so. Their fetish wear is in the Fisherman line, which is a line that is about fun and has a leather/rubber look. Their fetish wear is a mix of shirts, and underwear.

  • Latex bodywear 11282_black (79.80 Euros on left) is a mix of a jock and shirt making a fun body suit.
  • Jocks as you see are always big in fetish and the latex jockstrap 11211_black (26.60 Euros in Center) is one that has a super wide waistband.
  • Lastly we have the latex bottomless boxer 11221-1_black (30.90 Euros on left) is a boxer with a jock back. This has become one of the newest styles that the fetish wear makers are embracing.

This is not all the pairs they have that are fetish related, but find them at their site http://www.e-modusvivendi.com

manstore-fetishwearManStore

Manstore may not be a brand you are familiar with, we have covered them a few times on UNB. They are a European based company and all their stuff is skimpy and fun. The only bad thing about that is their site is in, I believe, German. Which makes it a bit hard to read more about them, but sites like Dead Good Undies also carry the line. Everytime I have seen ManStore they are super skimpy and fun cuts. Here are some styles they make.

  • Wrestler (63.90 Euros on left) is a deep cut singlet with a racer back, singlets are big this year.
  • Spider string (29.90 Euros in middle) is a thong with a jock thong back with a few extra straps.
  • Click Pants (39.90 Euros on right) is a rubber like trunk with a snap front.

The ManStore has some great European styling in their undies. It’s one we think our US readers should know about! Find them at their site http://www.manstore.de/

cellblock13-fetishwearCellblock13

Fetishwear is becoming more accepted in the underwear world. Timoteo has created a new line that focuses just on fetish wear, and that line is Cellblock13. It has been around for about three years and has come on strong in the fetish world. Cellblock13, to me, has a big of a sports vibe with the singlets and football inspired pairs. Some of their gear includes:

  • Renegade Defender Pant Jock  ($68.00 on left) is a hybrid of a pant and jock. The football inspired pants has the front and open back. Available in three colors
  • Grappler Jock – Fetish line isn’t complete with out a jock ($22.00 in middle). It’s a traditional jock cut with a 3 inch signature waistband and stretch mesh pouch.
  • Ginglet Jock – Singlets have always been big in the fetish world. ($50.00 on right). Cellblock13 has taken the singlet and made fun with the open back.

Cellblock13 is one of the newest brands in the fetish world but putting their own spin on the fetish wear they are making. Find them at their site http://www.cellblock13.net

This is not the end all be all list of fetishwear companies. This is only a few we think you should know. Also, each brand has way more styles then those we listed. We only did a few, go explore each site to find what fetish wear you love. If you have any fav fetishwear site let us know!

unb-staff-picks-thongsWho says men can’t or shouldn’t wear thong underwear?  Not us.  In today’s trendy underwear world, more and more guys are experimenting with thong underwear.  Whether it’s for comfort, to hide lines in tight clothing, or just to try out out something new, the stigma of a man wearing a thong has gone by the wayside.  Here are a few of our staff favorites.  What’s yours?

2(x)ist Sliq Y-back Thong – I don’t always wear thongs, but when I do I wear the 2xist Y-back thong. The masculine combination of the jockstrap and the thong mixed with the soft fabric creates the perfect thong. It is comfortable enough for all day wear without being super distracting.

Picked N2N thongs as his favorite. – I am a big fan of the n2nthongs. Their pouches are well shaped and fit great. I like a nice thick waistband too so it stays put! Plus the fabric is sporty but sexy.

Also picked a thong from 2(x)ist – the Essential Thong. – I will be the first to admit that I haven’t always been a fan of thongs, but I think a lot of guys have a pre-conceived notion around the idea of wearing a thong. To that I say… GET OVER IT!  I have been wearing thongs pretty regularly for the last couple of years.  I can say that their is certainly a time and a place to wear them, and it doesn’t include the gym! They really can be comfortable and can make you feel pretty sexy as well.

My favorite thong is from 2(x)ist. It is their Essential Thong. I have it both Black and White and it looks amazing in both colors. What I like about this thong is that it has a “Y” back to it. I have a few “Y” back thongs and it really is a style that I prefer when I buy a thong.  For me it helps eliminate the “wedgie” feeling that most guys don’t like about wearing them. the fabric is awesome and the pouch fits amazing! I also like the fact that the “thong” piece isn’t real thick and it is rolled cotton which makes it soft and doesn’t make it feel like you have a big bunch of fabric riding up your bum.

Picked the Joe Snyder thong. –  I love the Joe Snyder thong.  True to form, it has an ergonomically designed pouch that lifts you.  And the spandex lycra blend is a super sexy fabric that will make any guy feel hot.   And for those adventurous guys it can even double as a bathing suit.

underwear-confidence

Happy National Underwear Day! Every year FreshPair.com brings us this yearly celebration of all things underwear. Founded on August 5th, 2003 each year they do events to raise awareness of underwear. We fully support this day and hope you will celebrate with us!

This past year FreshPair.com has been focusing on confidence. They launched the Confidence Project, where men and women tell their stories of underwear and confidence. They range from cancer survivors to regular people. It’s great to see this in the underwear arena. This is what we want to focus on today!

Has anyone ever said to you, “Oh you don’t need to wear that?” “Oh that is so out of style” “only (insert gay slut) wear that type of underwear?” “Those just look stupid”  Have these things then affected your underwear purchasing or daily wear?

Having run this blog for almost 5 years I have heard every underwear choice a there is. They include thongs, men’s lace, bikinis, boxers and everything in between. Many guys who read this blog are in the closet with their love of underwear. When I am out at a party and guys find out that I write an underwear blog many will feel safe to confess their love of underwear.  You can see their eyes light up and talk about underwear. It’s like they are confessing a big dark secret for the first time.

We have created UNB as a safe place for guys, both straight and gay, to come together and talk about underwear. Because ALL guys need great underwear. It has been a long-standing mantra here at UNB that underwear should be fun and make you feel great.

You should wear whatever underwear you feel best in and to hell with what anyone else thinks.  How do we go about this? First, we need to not listen to society saying what makes a guy sexy. Underwear is a personal statement about who we are and what we like.  Its up to us to feel sexy and explore that part of ourselves.  So don’t wear underwear that the “general public” thinks you should wear.

Second, we shouldn’t judge anyone else underwear preference. I know many of you out there don’t understand men’s lace underwear. But there are a big group of guys who love this area of underwear. I will admit I have tried lace briefs from MalePower and they fit amazing. Who knew I would like lace? Let’s be open and supportive to every underwear lover. Just because you show support doesn’t mean you have to wear that style.

Third, Don’t let friends/family shame you into wearing something else. My personal favorite is bikinis. I have had friends who find out I wear them go “aren’t they uncomfortable?” “those don’t look good on a guy” and the list goes on. We need to ignore them because they aren’t wearing the underwear we are!  Over the years I have had family members make fun of me and question my underwear love. I felt great in them and ignored their comments. Why wear something we are going to hate to conform to others and when you think about it, are they really going to know what underwear you are wearing?

Fourth, if you feel sexy in it don’t let body issues get in the way. This one I have heard so many times on the blog. I’m too fat/thin, not endowed, my butt is too big/small and the list goes on to wear (insert style).  How many of us are actually underwear models? I bet more then 85% of people who read this blog couldn’t get a job as an underwear model. Remember the models are part of the marketing, all of us aspire to look like the model in our underwear but very few of us actually do.  I used to weight 300 pounds, at 6’4” I was big but not huge. Today I’m down 75 pounds and want to go down 25 more pounds. Even at that size I still wore my bikinis. It made me still feel sexy to wear my beloved bikinis.  Guys on each size of too big or too thin have this issue. My advice is to wear what you love and own it no matter what you think your issue is!

Lastly, lets all not be so shy about sharing your underwear love. Over the last five years more and more guys say they love great underwear. It’s not something taboo being relegated to the back pages of magazines any more. Let’s be confident about our underwear choices and be shamed when others find out about that love. So when a friend comes over and see’s your laundry and says something negative about your undies say “have you ever tried them?” and start a conversation. I have found the more guys that actually try great underwear will keep buying them and change their preferences and underwear drawer. To do this comment on this and other underwear blogs, participate in our social media, email us, and talk to us! We love talking underwear and all you have to do is reach out and we will answer back!

I will get off my soap box now and hope you guys will go out and wear what you want. Don’t let anyone sway your opinion or make you wear something you don’t like. The stigma around men’s underwear is changing and with National Underwear Day we will keep bringing attention to men’s underwear!  So go out now and enjoy National Underwear Day and wear something great!

To all the fellas out there with ladies to impress, it’s easy to do, just follow these steps:

One… cut a hole in a box

Two… put your junk in that box

Three… make her open the box

That’s the way you do it. It’s my d**k in a box!

If you live inside a vacuum cleaner then you may have missed the 2006 SNL skit featuring Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg as early 90’s (Color Me Badd-esque) R+B singers who bestow their gift‑wrapped genitals as Christmas presents.  There is one moment in the video which gives me the biggest laugh.  It’s the moment when Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig, both portraying the unsuspecting female recipients, open their boxes and react with excitement and a hint of naughty desire (apparent when Wiig mouths the ‘oooooohhh’ sound).  I suppose I find that part funny because the more juvenile parts of myself think “hey… that might work, right?”

For the readers of this blog, there is a parallel to be drawn.  If you wear a pair of fashion-forward underwear then you are, in a sense, putting on a show for others.  Your junk is not in a gift‑wrapped box, BUT it might as well be.  It is the center of attention and is likely to be pushed up and forward far enough that you could have the winning edge in a photo-finish relay race.  Or as my partner says, they are “extra bulgey.”

It’s taken me years to come out of my shell and realize that I enjoy showing off for her (in the right context of course).  I think it’s safe to assume that many of this blog’s readers feel the same way I do.  We may not look like underwear models, but we’re not half-bad and life is short.  Why not give our partners something to ogle.

But what happens if your partner is not as into it as you are? (insert needle-across-record sound here).  Truth is that your specific tastes or preferences may not be shared by your partner.  In fact, I’d bet money that it’s a minority of couples who enjoy having identical or even closely-aligned preferences.  Take me for example.  I, being a straight man, am a visual creature.  Seeing my girl in lace undies, garters, and stockings is an instant turn-on.  It will rev my engines every time.  My natural inclination is to return the favor and give her something to look at.  But it doesn’t always work.  Her libido is governed by a complex formula which seemingly includes the weather, my interest in children, whether I’ve taken the trash out, whether Downton Abbey is on tonight, and Ryan Reynolds.

Just because your partner doesn’t swoon at the sight of your underwear bulge doesn’t mean they don’t find you attractive.  Everyone is wired different.  It’s just a fact of life.  There are still ways you can make this disparity into a win-win in the bedroom.  You can’t make someone get turned on by something that naturally doesn’t do it for them.  But there are alternate routes to satisfy both partners’ desires.

First and foremost: talk to your partner.  Our inner Puritans have a way of making us embarrassed to express our feelings.  Or maybe we don’t want to get laughed at.  Whatever the reason, a failure to communicate these desires will leave you frustrated and unfulfilled.  I cannot overstate the importance of frank and open discussion.  If wearing nice underwear is part of your ritual just say that.  Even if it does nothing for your partner you can help them recognize that it’s important to you.  How you approach this discussion is up to you, but my recommendation is to do it in advance so that you’re not explaining, apologizing, or creating awkward Woody Allen moments during foreplay (Woody Allen = mood killer).  Drink if you have to.  Just get the words out.

Second: even if your partner is not visually stimulated the way you are there is still an indirect effect on your demeanor which CAN be a turn on.  You might recall in a previous thread where I described the ‘Tarzan Effect.’  But if you missed it, here’s the cliff notes version: if you feel like a man you will act like a man.  Your partner might not care for seeing you in skimpy man undies.  But if wearing them turns you into an unstoppable tank in the bedroom they will DEFINITELY notice.  The key ingredient here is your ability to be uninhibited.

Third: bring as much variety to the game as possible.  Around the holidays last year I went to the effort of learning a strip-routine.  I went out and got the cheesy velcro bow-tie, shirt-cuffs, the whole nine yards.  In that context, skimpy man undies were a perfect fit.  I made a playlist with the most stereotyped R+B slow jams I could find.  It was like we were living out a scene from a Tyler Perry movie.  She had no idea any of it was coming, and getting her to laugh made the rest of the night effortless.  We still refer to that night as our ‘Christmas in the ATL.’  Moral of the story is avoid repeat performances.  Surprise your partner with new scenarios.  If you put effort into making it fun they will notice.  Heck, they might even bring a stack of $1 bills to shove into your waist band.

Last: be willing to laugh at yourself.  Any time you try something new or outside your normal operating zone you are bound to encounter funny or potentially embarrassing moments.  If your partner laughs don’t let it shut you down.  Steer into the skid.  Ham it up.  Your willingness to roll with the punches will keep the mood going in the right direction.  If you clam up like a frightened kid at a school play, well… ask Woody Allen.

These are just ideas, but the goal here is to create something that both partners will enjoy.  Let’s face it… your junk in a box just isn’t gonna cut it.
