I have told you guys that I’m working on losing weight and getting healthier. I have a few things that could cause long-term issues if I stay a beefy boy for a while. So I decided to be proactive and take off weight. I am 20 pounds down and a lot more to go to reach my goal. It’s a long process that is about a lifestyle change not dieting.

To celebrate this feat, I was going to buy me some undies. There were a few pairs from a brand I had my eye on! I went to the site and selected the size. But that little voice in my head said “check the size chart.” As I clicked it. The XL was at least 2 inches smaller than my current waist size. “WTF!” went through my mind. I won’t say what brand it was, but I know they had 38-40 as their XL in the past. I’m right at a 40.

I pretty much said “Fuck it” and closed the browser. At first, I was depressed, but then I got angry. You think the editor of an underwear blog would have no issues in underwear. Or I could reach out and voice my frustration. Well, unfortunately, I don’t have a contact with that brand. So I decided to get some singlets instead, that fit!!

We need to get underwear lines that make underwear for guys larger than a 36 waist. If you’re tall like me, 6’4″, even at a healthy body weight, it’s easy to have a 36 or 38-inch waist. But regardless, if I want to buy something to make me feel sexy I should be able too, no matter what size I am.

I looked through more brands and a lot of them end about 36 inches. We have a lot more work to do to get bigger, tall and beefy guys in better underwear. I am going to start running posts of brands that carry XL and cater to beefy guy! Stay tuned.

  1. I’m looking forward to the posts. My doctor ordered me to loose a lot of weight a few years ago, and I’m now down to a 32-33 pant size (generally Medium in US underwear), but my husband is a bigger guy. I like to get him good underwear, but so many of the great brands don’t fit him. Please please point me to things I can buy for my big handsome man.

  2. UNBTim, I feel your pain. I’m 6’4″ 290 pounds and it is hard to find underwear and swimwear for larger guys. My favorite brands to go to are BodyAware.com, aussiebum.com and skinzwear.com. I’ve also gotten lucky with PrevailSport.com and sometimes 2(X)ist. I believe that we need to let the brands know that bigger guys want to wear thongs and bikinis both for underwear and swimwear. In fact I purchased the George Swim Thong from BodyAware and I love it. I wore it all Labor Day Weekend at the lake house and I wore it at a pool party. I too get disgusted when I see an XL size chart go to 36″. I work out regularly and eat right I’m just a bigger guy and being a 36 is just a dream. I will say that instead of getting angry, I choose to support brands who make my size. I order thongs, bikinis and briefs from BodyAware, PrevailSport, Aussiebum, Skinzwear and 2(X)ist and I’m glad to give them my money I guess the other brands will miss out #notmyproblem. UNBTim, stay strong and keep me posted if you find other brands that carry larger thongs and bikinis.
