EW0454_White_1Ergowear is a favorite of some of our guys on the site. I am included in that group. Egowear has a really great pouch. Not just for guys with a big package but for all guys. They designed several pouch designs that will fit a guy, the way underwear should be made! I get off my pouch soapbox now.

The newest edition in the Erogwear line are stripes. This is a limited edition collection of stripes. While not a huge collection it is something different from the line. They haven’t done too many stripes in the past. Actually I don’t recall when they did stripes. I’m not saying they haven’t but I can’t remember when they last had them. They have done some fun prints in previous collections though.

The new stripes are available in the X3D line. The styles are a thong, bikini and trunk. In colors black and white. Like I said it’s not a huge update. I really love these stripes. What is the X3D pouch design? It’s a “nose-shaped pouch has been designed with a lift effect, slightly pushing your genitals up and away for added movement and comfort.”

Another bonus of the X3D collection is it’s made out of Microfiber. The fabric is a super soft Microfiber fabric 95% Polyester, 5% Spandex. This fabric is a moisture-wicking fabric. Making it perfect for the hot summer or an active guy. All the pairs I have had of the X3D, the fabric has always been amazing. It’s soft and feels great against the skin.

If you have never experienced Ergowear now is the time to try. I don’t think you will be disappointed in the brand at all.

PQ160403_Black_1When you think of fun and skimpy underwear, PetitQ definitely comes to mind. Over the years they have played with different fabrics and style. The PetitQ boys aren’t following any rules for underwear. They are designing underwear they think is sexy and fun. Which, come to think of it, is the way underwear should be. The new collection builds on the previous collections. Some similar styles and fabrics work their way in to the new gear. It’s a great evolution of the line.

I have grouped the new collection into Bikinis, Mesh, Jocks, Splash and G-strings. Its a logical way to report on the collection. This is the new collection!

Bikinis

There are four new bikinis that consist of two styles are the Target Bikini and Mercy Bikini. Each comes in two color combinations. The Target bikini is made out of a solid and mesh fabric. The mesh fabric is on the pouch and wraps half way around the back. The fabric of the pair is 90% Nylon 10% Spandex. You will show off a lot more with this pair over the Mercy bikini. PetitQ always does interesting cuts of fabric. Both of these lines are asymmetrical and fun. Colors are Black/Red and White/Blue

The Mercy bikini has a similar cut to the Target bikini except there is less mesh around the back. It ends about 1/4 around the back. The fabric is the same 90% Nylon and 10% spandex as the Target bikini. Just like the Target, the pouch has the see through fabric. The colors are Black/Red and White/Black.

Mesh

PetitQ has a fun play on mesh with the Mesh Stripes collection. In stead of a 100% see through mesh, this fabric has solid stripes. This allows for somethings to be hidden. However, you will still be showing off all you have in these. The Mesh Stripes is avialble in a Kini, G-string, and bikinis. Another new pair in the mesh are the Mesh Chaps. They have a waistband and come down to your knees. You can wear them solo or with a jock or g-string. Definitely a hot pair. The Mesh stripes is made out of 95% nylon and 5% spandex and is only in black. The Chaps are 100% nylon and only in black.

Jocks

PetitQ is giving us their take on the Jock. As expected it’s not your typical jock. It’s more of a jock brief thong. Sort of a three part hybrid. Part brief, part jock and part thong all rolled into one. It may sound like a pretty odd combination, but it really works. The Sail Jock is the same material from the last collection, made out of a 95% Modal and 5% spandex. The Blue Jock is made out of 95% cotton and 5% spandex. Lastly the white is a mesh made out of 100% nylon. These three fabrics gives the three very different and unique looks.

Splash

The Splash collection is a new fabric for styles you already know. They have a blue mesh with a green print trim. The styles are Bikini Rift Splash, Bikini Rivera Splash and the Kini Rivera Splash. Most of the times they made these styles it was with solid fabric. Each style is made out of a 100% nylon mesh material.

G-Strings

We have plenty of fans of g-strings out there. I think the point of a g-string is to have the most minimal coverage. These definitely fit in that category. The pouches on both of these are some of the smallest I have seen in a while. One is solid black while the other is a black mesh. Both styles are made out of 80% Nylon and 20% spandex. It just depends on how much you want to show off.

Bikinis Part 2

The last of the bikinis are the Neon and Bulge Bamboo Bikini. These don’t  really fit in the other categories I created. The Neon Bikini a very brief Bikini with neon trim. It’s a smaller cut bikini. It reminds me of a few of the Japanese companies making underwear. Meaning it’s very low rise and looks to give you minimum coverage in the back. The Neon Bikini is made out of 80% nylon and 20% spandex.

The Bulge Bamboo Bikini is a true bikini. Its a low rise bikini with thin sides. So all our bikini lovers can rejoice. The back has full coverage on the back. Made out of 96% bamboo and 4% spandex, it will fit you like a glove. Bamboo fabric is super soft. This pair is only available in white.

Its not a massive update to PetitQ but it’s a fun update. I think they have done a great job in evolving their collection. I can’t wait to see what they do next!

Pros: Unlined, Semi-Natural Pouch Hang

Cons: Unlined

SALVATORE Recommendation: Here I am living in Tropical Paradise where most men wear long board shorts or trunks. Granted, shorter swimsuits are in, but I think guys are missing a great opportunity to look great in a swim brief. As you all know, here at UNB, we have put a lot of emphasis on swim briefs. From our swim guides to a series of posts about skimping down this Summer on the beach. We think swim briefs are an awesome alternative to the super long shorts. That take forever to dry when you get out of the water and inhibit greatly one’s ability to move in the water.

Honestly, the most natural way to swim is naked.  But that is currently outlawed in most areas of the good ole US of A. With that said, we also recognize that many men are very uncomfortable bearing all in a swim brief on a beach that mainly covered in board shorts. Coming to Hawaii has been a great experience. I am constantly puzzled by what I see guys and gals wearing on the sands of Waikiki and other hot spots. The men are shorts wearers and ironically, the ladies seem to prefer the Brazilian cut and thong back. Who would have thought???? Let’s stay away from those topics for now and look at a great swim brief that I’d recommend to the guy looking to see if he likes the idea. But might not be ready to strip down.

Let me recommend the N2N Tempest Sport Brief. As something that you can wear underneath your shorts with the idea to strip down, or something that you can wear by itself. This is a great brief for either occasion. Here are few things that I liked about the design.

Pouch: Because N2N does a brilliant job with fabric selection in all of it’s products. Most of their underwear, swimwear, and loungewear meet my definition of a natural pouch. This swim brief did exactly that. With 92% being Polyester and 8% being Spandex. The fabric blend allows for your sacred spaced to have plenty of space. One of things I hate about traditional swim briefs is the bulky lining that seems to bunch up the boys. This swim brief is unlined leaving you with a true underwear intimate feel. I see this as a definite positive in most situations. I also see this as a negative for the circumcised male as the impression is quite impressionable and might not be appropriate for every occasion. You will have to decide. On my honeymoon many moons ago. I remember seeing a very sexy and extremely tanned European man wearing an opaque white skimpy bikini that was unlined at the pool. He was proud and so were all of the women staring at him. I don’t have the body he had and am not sure my wife would appreciate all of the of the attention focused on my junk.

Drawstring: Not every bikini has a drawstring. This brief does. This allows you to freely maneuver in the water without worry that you’ll lose your drawers. However, because the brief is unlined. The impression of the drawstring is visible from time to time making for an odd look on the pouch. Side note—be careful to groom your pubic hair if you are going to wear an unlined swim bikini. A bush impression on the crotch is as bad a drawstring impression on a crotch.

Cut: The cut of the brief is a hybrid between a true bikini and a traditional competitive swimmers suit. This allows you to get an awesome tan without feeling like you are wearing a string bikini. The hybrid cut also maintains a full seat so you don’t feel like you have a wedgie all day. The cut is spectacular and sexy. The seat stays in place and leg bands are very comfortable. N2N nailed this aspect of the brief.

Logo: The very small N2N logo displayed on the rear of the right hip is the perfect size. Not over the top like some of the brands that plaster the logo across the entire butt (N2N does this occasionally). But just right to let the other underwear enthusiasts know that you have style. The branding on this swim brief is subtle and perfect—a special coded simple that speaks to the heart of underwear collector.

Overall, I think this is a stunning visual representation of classy and sexy. The two colors are great—bold enough to turn heads, but not so bold to get gawkers! As always, I love that N2N now offers this brief in multiple prints. I enjoy wearing mine under trunks or out in the open. Get yours and give this well thought out brief a shot at the beach, the pool, or just tanning on the roof.

I was told about this pair last February in Vegas. I had a vision of this pair and what would be on it. My vision was a red pair with white writing. This is because the first pair I wanted was the red CX01. Now, the pair is out and its pretty awesome. A lot better than I had thought it would be!

The official description is: “Cocksox is ten! Celebrate this special birthday with us in our legendary CX01 Underwear Brief featuring a striking print of Cocksox slogans, brands and tags. This is where it all began for Cocksox – the CX01 is also celebrating its 10th birthday! By wearing these briefs you literally become part of our story – wear them with pride!”

Over the years the pair and brand have been described by many words. They took these words and slogans they have used and created this one of a kind print. Some of the words are “revolutionary”, “Australia” and “Est. 2006”. The print is called Decadence. I definitely will be getting one of these pairs! It also will be one I will buy!

This week they are celebrating the 10 years. We will have a few fun things for you guys as well! Don’t worry the new print is also available in Thong, Bikini, Sports Brief and Boxer. This means its more than likely available in your favorite style. However, since the CX01 Brief (I know I call it the bikini) is my personal favorite. Each is made out of the classic 95% Cotton 5% Spandex. This blend and construction is made to hold up very well over the years.

These went on Sale on Sunday and will be around for a limited time. Don’t miss out on this amazing pair. Once they are gone, they will be gone for ever.

Custom Made Underwear fromSalvatore: Not too long ago, I came across a custom fit underwear maker. I started a dialogue with Steve from cut-2-fit and decided that all of our readers might be interested in his service. He has since custom made a bikini brief and swim brief for me to try. I’m excited to share those experiences with you in a later post. The dialogue led to some questions. The answers to those questions led to this post. Enjoy learning about an increasing emergent market niche in men’s underwear—custom made skivvies. The measurements are much more detailed than just waist size. Enjoy this read, check out Steve’s website, and get your order started today:

  1. What got you started in the underwear industry? Specifically, what led you to pursue the customization of high quality men’s underwear?

I trained as a Costume designer and was taught to achieve the right silhouette needed for each performer and their role. This all starts with the correct shaped underwear followed by a build out to the final costume design.

The construction of underwear for women and men makes up a large section of my professional and technical training. The major difference between the sexes is the fact that men’s underwear is never cut or shaped to fit the male form and has traditionally produced a garment to hide things.

During my career working on productions for dance, television, theatre I decided to go against the grain and accentuate the male form rather than HIDE THE GOODS! Because of this fact, my costume designs for men always included custom designed underwear. This meant giving a more fitted shape to their underwear staying true to the male form.

This purposeful process led to many of the male artists wearing my designs to commission me privately to design and make their underwear & swimwear. After becoming an upper leg amputee a couple of years ago, I found a new set of problems for myself when making underwear to fit right for my new body shape. I started working closely with other male amputees to create custom made underwear & swimwear that was adapted to cater for their own special needs. This crossed over into my private commissions for designer swimwear & underwear for the two legged male.

  1. From the production aspect, what does it take to customize and create a pair

of underwear from start to finish?

There are many good brands on the market that cater to all different styles/cuts in underwear and swimwear. Brands generally all follow the same route by using generic block measurements. This means if you are a 32-inch waist, the garment is cut and shaped to that size and will not take into account that every person will be different shape although still having a 32 inch waist.

This is where cut-2-fit is different from other designer brands. Each one of our client’s underwear or swimwear is individually cut and shaped from their measurements. We also give every client a choice in fabric, colour, and style from our website (or tailored made to their requirements).

CUT_TO_FIT_MEASUREMENT_CHART_WEB_-THIS_COPY_FOR_WEB_1024x1024

When a client first inquires about having a custom made underwear or swimwear from cut-2-fit, we request specific information on style, colour, pouch shaping, etc. I will then create a set of designs and colour samples following the client’s requirements. These drawings are e-mailed to the client so they can decide on which design and colour to choose. The client sends me their measurements (taken from the chart on the website), design, fabric choice, and payment. If we do not hold the fabric in stock an order will be placed with our UK supplier and we will start drafting up your pattern.

Once your fabric has arrived it will then be cut and machined into the finished garment. Once the quality of the finished garment has been checked, the finished product is then shipped out to the client. An email is sent to the client to inform them their order is on its way. The time we try to work to for each clients order placed in the UK is 7 business days from receiving payment to arrival off the order.

  1. What is the logic behind each of the measurements that are taken in order to create that perfect pair for your clients?

Men will find these measurements quite daunting, but in realty women have more measurements taken in the construction of a bespoke bra. Women are used to this and will talk about cup size, uplift, etc amongst their female friends.

Rarely do we hear men talk to their male friends about the way their genitals hang or length and thickness. This can vary greatly from one client to another. Unlike other designer brands, each order is tailored and cut -2-fit each individual client.

On the technical side, we are producing a pattern from a flat 1D effect into a 3D effect. From each of the client’s individual measurements given, this will affect the degree of angle, depth, width and shaping in the pattern construction. Because we use a Lycra based fabric, there needs to be a reduction of between 10% upwards to their measurements due to its different stretch values. With all of our clients, each one will have their own set of patterns drafted from their measurements. These are kept in their own file named with the client reference number.

  1. What types of people are using your services? Are your clients mainly UK based or are other countries catching on?

Many of my first clients where UK based and still come back to me year after year. Most of my commissions come by word of mouth. This causes my client base to kee growing. Over the last couple of years, I have seen an increase is interest from new clients from all over Europe. They have seen my designs on English men whilst on holiday. My client base has a wide selection of men from all different walks of life.

The range of requests of styles and designs that have been commissioned cover husbands asking for lace underwear to match their wife’s wedding dress so they can wear them on the big day, college students looking for see-thru underwear, office workers looking for jock briefs, male pole dancers looking for sequin briefs and thongs, posing briefs for bodybuilders, etc. This creativity of men around the world is astounding and indescribable.

A_Baby_doll_Negligee_Set_medium

  1. How important is client confidentiality?

Because of the detailed measurement chart that needs to be sent when placing an order including their choice of design, fabric or any other request I try to make my clients feel that any type of request no matter how strange is between the client and me. This is why a client confidentiality agreement is sent out straight away from cut-2-fit to the client.

When a request or order is placed, it comes straight to me. I then have a client number allocated to the associated name and address. All correspondence sent back from cut-2-fit and vice versa will have this client number for their order.

  1. What is the most important thing for our readers to understand about your processes, product, and professionalism?

cut-2-fit first appeared in the late 90s catering for men who wanted a tailored cut a style in their underwear or swimwear. Many of the first male clients appeared from word of mouth after commissions being made for male actors and artists from productions I had been working on.

All underwear or swimwear ordered from cut-2-fit is cut to the clients own body shape. Try and be as accurate as possible when taking your measurements. You should include any extra information to be used in the construction and shaping of the pouch and the shaping and cut of the leg(s).

The turnaround from payment to delivery of your order placed in the UK is 7 working days and includes free postage. Any orders placed from outside the UK will depend on shipping time to your country and a charge for postage.

Don’t think your request is impossible. We have heard it all! Just send us an email. We cannot make up garments in leather or suede. In person fitting is required for these fabric choices. Give us a try. We will work extremely hard to satisfy you and your requests!

Undies Rock Recommendation: The combination of material that is breathable, light and Stretchy. A style that is flattering for all shapes and sizes are the key components for comfortable pants. N2N hit it out of the ball park with this pair.

Undies Rock here, about to drop knowledge on one of my personal favorite pieces from N2N!  Behold, the perfect “I’m working from home” bottoms – the CS7 N2N Cotton Sport Runner pant. As many of you know. I am a huge fan of the N2N brand.  It’s no surprise that their active/loungewear is as amazing as their underwear and swimwear. Gentlemen, if your ultimate goal is to work at home in class and comfort, than these pants are your fix!

First off, this pant is pretty much the men’s version of a legging.  I know this might be a little taboo. All I have to say to those “real/tough/whatever men” out there, don’t knock it till you try it. If you don’t think these are the most comfortable pants you could try on, then you need get real.  Trust me, for all of those “manly” guys out there who are too scared to wear form fitting, legging type pants. Then you are straight up missing out on: 1) absolute comfort, and 2) the ultimate display of your manhood. So go ahead and continue wearing those slopping, unflattering, excessive basketball shorts. But don’t come running to me asking where I got these sweet-ass man leggings because guess what?…I told you so!  Alright I said my peace, and enough with the rant and on to good stuff!

As I previously stated. The Cotton Sport Runner is essentially the men’s version of the legging. It’s a tight fitting, low rise, sporty, knit pant that hits lower to mid-calf (I’m a taller dude at 6′-5″ and it sits mid-calf on me).  I can’t emphasize the tight fit enough. These are supposed to conform to your body, and they totally will.  And as a disclaimer, if you are afraid of undie lines and plan to wear these out. Then you might want to pair this pant with a thong or g. This pant is incredibly low rise, so if you’re a brief guy then maybe a sport bikini might be a good option.

I have the heather grey color option in size Medium. I am roughly between a 33”-34″ waist and I’d say it fits true to size since the medium is rated for a 32”-34.”   The material is relatively thin. The 94% cotton and 6% spandex material allows generous amounts of movement while retaining the right amount of support for all dudes of different sizes. One of my favorite features is the flat, seamless front; HUGE plus in my book.  This flat front design naturally conforms to your package with just the right amount of support. Without being overbearingly tight. The construction of the whole pant is quality. I have machine washed and dried these pants at least three times and I have to say that this pant is resilient. The material is still elastic and the color has remained true.  I have been a huge fan of N2N for quite some time. One of my biggest pet peeves with the brand is the quality control on sizing/cut.  I will say that all of the pieces I have from this current collection are spot on with the sizing and fit. So I would like to applaud N2N for stepping up their game.  This generation of runner is currently offered in a hunter green, royal blue, and heather grey.  I have the heather grey. Which is a little transparent, but honestly I kind of dig it, and so does my girl 😉 The other color options are darker so I’d bet they are less revealing.

Right now you can catch this awesome runner directly on the N2N website for $46 large.  I know this is a little of an investment, but entirely worth it if you aspire to bask in total comfort.  I am huge fan and collector of runners. This is definitely my go to pair for those days when you are hanging around at home.  The combination of material that is breathable, light and Stretchy. A style that is flattering for all shapes and sizes are the key components for comfortable pants. N2N hit it out of the ball park with this pair.  Thanks for answering my prayers, N2N!

Pros: Fun, bold design, great durability.

Cons: Awkward pouch in crotch.

pleep recommendations: If you are a fan of compression shorts at the gym or wearing them just out and about.  these would be good to look at. The color choices are Navy, Hunter and Black.

This pair was the first time I had worn shorts from N2N. I have worn their tights, jockstrap, thongs, singlets before (and the shirt that had been in the previous review) but never shorts. Consequently, I didn’t know what to expect from them.  The fabric, like all N2N items felt amazing and was super soft. The cut of course was very sexy, but with how these are cut.  They may not be the most practical at a gym if you either have a large booty or package or go to a conservative gym.

I wore these shorts around the condo as well as to the gym. I had first worn them around the condo and had loved how they felt while wearing them.  They do not ride up if you do a lunge or a squat. I then wore them at the gym. Which is when I had gotten a lot of heads to turn, for two reasons. The pouch in the front has your package very much so on display, and the back is designed to show off your… assets.

The size I received from them was a L and it fit perfectly everywhere. They are def cut to the standard American size L, so if you normally wear a L then go on and buy a L for this one too.

1We all love men’s underwear. Each of us has our favorite styles, colors and fabrics. Underwear really is a personal experience for each guy. I think this is why we have such a passion for great underwear. We get to wear what fits us the best and makes us feel sexy as hell!

I got thinking of Masculinity in underwear after a talk with Andy (an interview coming out soon). He’s Leather Title holder and wears lace. I won’t go into all we talked about, but it is going to be a great talk! Our talk lasted about an hour. To coin a term used today “He gives no fucks” in what he wears.

Masculinity goes beyond lace. It centers around fabric, styles and colors. Society has told us what a man should wear. It shouldn’t be this and it shouldn’t be that. It should only be in this narrow defined category. Outside of that, some people will wonder if you’re light in the loafers.

Luckily, we are in a time that is changing. In the late 2000’s the color pink came into the world of men’s underwear. It took the industry by storm. Guys couldn’t get enough pink. Before this time, pink was not a color that mainstream companies would use for underwear. It was considered a color that was only used in women’s underwear. Now, very few give it a second thought about wearing or using pink. Other colors have started to come into men’s underwear as a result. Pastels, purple, and others considered on the feminine side are being produced every year.

Next is fabric. Not just lace but other fabrics are considered not manly. Silk was only to be used in boxers. While satin was not to be used at all. It had to be 100% cotton. Anything outside of that was a no no. We are shattering those rules. Satin underwear can be super sexy.  Brands like BodyAware are showing just how sexy. I think I have seen underwear in just about every fabric combination. Brands like Gregg Homme and Pistol Pete are always playing with new fabrics to give guys more options. And let’s not forget Mesh. I could go on for hours about mesh! But I won’t!

Lastly is styles. This is a debate we still have going on today in mainstream society. Guys should just wear tights whities, boxer briefs or boxers. Anything that shows off the bulge, is a different cut or sexualizes a guy is not tolerated. Thongs are showing a up swing in popularity. This is across the board and not just for the gay market. Yet, for many of our straight underwear brothers, they are in the underwear closet. They get labeled “gay” or “fruity” for liking the fit and comfort.  The same is said of bikinis or anything that is smaller than the “norm.”

I’m making a bold statement and saying that all men’s underwear is masculine. That is underwear that is designed for men and accommodates their assets (for a lack of better word). Yes, certain styles may not fit society or our own ideals of Masculinity. Just think, maybe for that guy who does wear them thinks its masculine.

Each of us has our own definition of masculinity. Mine is “a guy doing what he wants that empowers him and makes him feel great.” We need to all band together and fight the male underwear double standard. Wear what you feel great in, and pardon my language but “Fuck anyone who doesn’t agree.”  We will explore this topic a lot more!

Pros: Interesting color, good looking thong.

Cons: A little worried about the wrong tag.

Underweardude recommendation: If you like to wear thongs on a day to day basis, or even if you don’t. This would make a fine addition to your underwear drawer.

Today I will be reviewing another new pair that I received for review by N2N.  A cousin of the Neon G from a few days ago. You might say, the Stone Wash Classic Cotton G. Like the Neon pair. What makes this pair different from the core Classic Cotton line is the color. On its website N2N says it is “Pigment dyed for a vintage look”, and that definitely  rings true. Sure, at first glance it does just sort of look like a plain old blue, but not quite. The shade feels basic, yet also deep and complex. It’s hard to describe. To me, it also makes the fabric look a bit worn in already, in a sense.  But in a good UN2-16-7way, like wearing a significant others shirt or such. Like you’ve owned it for years right out of the box. That may not be an ideal look for everyone, but I think it brings a sense of charm to the pair. As long time readers might know, blue is one of my favorite colors, so of course I jumped at a chance to try this pair. Like the Neon line, the size/care tags are dyed nearly the exact same color as the pair. I’m really enjoying this trend. If you aren’t getting rid of or are unable to get rid of care/size tags, you might as well have some fun with them. Would love to see other designers who haven’t already gone to printing that information on the pair directly  pick up this idea. Size wise the pair was pretty much fine, as usual for me, since I practically straddle the S/M divide.

There was one odd thing with the pair. The tag stated that the pair was not cotton, but polyester. I was profoundly confused. A quick check of  N2N’s website states that. Obviously, the line is made out of cotton.  The pair feels nearly identical to the other cotton N2N pairs that I own. Though I do not consider myself an expert on this by any means. I chalk it up to simple manufacturing mistake. I’ve been wearing N2N for about a decade now, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this. Not a big worry to me.

Though I normally don’t participate in the trend of Thong Thursday, I wanted to give this pair a real good test. I wore it for a  long walk and to work. I only really noticed it once at work, and it quickly went back to normal. The pair didn’t get annoying or needed any adjustment. Despite the near constant movement required at my job.  Like its brightly colored cousin I reviewed recently. I would certainly recommend this pair for a thong lover wanting to get an N2N cotton pair with just a bit more color to it tun usual. A good middle ground between the more subdued colors offered by the main line, and the loud colors available in Neon.

Pros: Great color, good look.
Cons: No overwhelming cons.
Underweardude Recommendation: If you like brightly colored thongs. This pair is for you.

When I first got a look at N2N’s new lines for 2016, I was surprised. Not only did they have a bunch of new lines. They decided to turn one line into several by branching out the Classic Cotton line. Adding two other varieties to it. Today I will be talking about the Classic Cotton Neon line. Specifically the Neon G. The Neon line is a new variety from the venerable classic cotton line by N2N. Much about the pair is the same as older versions of the line, except for one major difference: the color. While previously available only on more traditional tones. This line comes in bright and loud neon varieties of pink and yellow.

N2N provided the pair for review, and from the moment I took it out of the packaging I couldn’t wait to try it on.  The color is just great. While I usually stay away from pairs in these sort of shades, I love the look of the yellow pair I received. The yellow hue that was chosen is strong, not pale, and in some angles and types of light it almost looks neon green to me. The color of the pair just pops while you wear it, and is a great idea to shake up the line. A nice small touch is that the size/care tag is dyed the same color as the pair. Which N2N seems to be doing a lot these days but I quite like the attention to detail. The sizing was fine for me. Perhaps a tiny bit tight but i’m on the larger side of size small and after wearing it for awhile it went away.

Besides the color change, this is the N2N Classic Cotton thong you know and love. Great pouch, good low rise fit, skimpy, but still covers more than you’d think. I think the bright color helps show off the cut. I like how I look in this pair a fair bit more than the dark grey pair I already own.  I wore this pair on the weekend, and it performed admirably. Whether it was out and about running errands, household chores, a long walk, or a night out with friends. This thong pretty much didn’t bother me at all. I also honestly couldn’t stop checking out how it looks in the mirror. That color is simply fantastic!

If you want a great everyday thong with a pop of color, look no farther. If you already own a Classic Cotton thong, think of it as a car you love, but now with an awesome new paint job. Simply put, this takes an already good daily wearable thong, which not too many are, and adds a great look to it. I really wish they had one in neon green too. I like it that N2N is not only coming out with new lines. But expanding their core products with additional variety, which I think is a great idea. As for what the other new variety of Classic Cotton is, well, you’ll just have to wait for my next post to find out.

What is yourIn our reader survey we asked you guys who influences your buying decisions. It’s not like you can walk in any department store and buy what you want, when you want it. Many brands are only available through the net. Then there is the whole double standard (which I have tried to write about 3 times today and just gave up. It’s a complicated issue). After 5 paragraphs in I asked, Is this topic important to say or am I preaching to the choir. I chose the later.

Emails from brands

This one was a shock for me. Not that it’s an influencer but it’s number one. There is a combination of why this makes sense. The first is they announce when new pairs are released. You will be given a link and be able to buy right then. Sometimes we get advance notice and publish it before it’s available to buy. Next, brands and retailers send out emails about sales. If it’s a good sale, you guys will definitely shop!

Reviews

This one made us at UNB very happy. We love sharing our opinions on the brands we review. Sometimes they are good and other times they are bad. Reviews allow you to hear how someone liked the pair. What are the great points and the parts we fell need some work. This is one area where if you have further questions we didn’t cover, contact us and we will answer them for you. It may help us refine our review process.

Social Media influencers

I figured this would be the top influencer of you guys. Social media influencers are more than just guys posting pictures in underwear. You guys mentioned other underwear blogs like The Bottom Drawer and Men’s Underwear Blog. Real guys on social media like Underweardude, Bikinisnthongs and BiThongdude. Celebrities such as Seth Fornea and Colby Melvin. And lastly brands such as Nasty Pig, International Jock and  Dead Good Undies. Twitter wasn’t the only social media sites you guys use. Other sites were Instagram and Tumblr.

News Write Ups

News write ups are posts on our blog and others informing you on what new pairs are released. Not everyone wants to sign up brand’s email list. We try to keep you informed as much as we can. Even introduce you to new and up and coming brands. We have included new posts to profile pairs. Post such as Jockstrap Wednesday, Thong Thursday, Swimwear Sunday and Undie Monday. We do this because we think deserve more attention. It’s not easy to keep up with all the pairs released. But we do our best to cover things we think are fun and awesome.

Partner/significant other

As much as we say we pick our own undies. Our partners/significant others play a big part in what we buy. That is if you have one! You will buy things that they will like to see you wearing. Some guys get their partners involved in the purchase. Our very own Salvatore usually gets his wife to pick out a lot of his review pairs he receives from us. I’m sure more husbands and wives do this for their partner. They may have veto power or not. When I last dated my partner at the time hated one pair that I loved. I bought it anyway.

Friends

Lastly, friends influence you. This could be real life friends or social media friends. Some of us have friends we can talk underwear with at times. We can talk about new brands and what we love. Others don’t have that in their lives. Enter the world of Twitter where you can create a pseudonym and talk to like-minded guys. In a judgement free zone. It doesn’t matter if you’re gay/bi/straight. We are all brothers in underwear.

My personal influencers are: Social Media, Brands and friends. I have made a lot of friends through the blog and many will email me when they find a new brand. Also, I’ll see new lines and brands online. We don’t always get notified when there are new lines out. Some brand produces new pairs every two weeks. Lastly, are brands. Much like you guys I do subscribe to email lists and get to see when things are released.

These are just a few of the top influencers you guys pointed out to us. It gives us some great insight into what motivates you guys! I hope you enjoy these posts. You guys are the most amazing guys!

CONS

  • Legs straps are a bit thick
  • Leg openings were a bit tight for me

Back in the saddle and this time I’m reviewing the N2N Spartan Jock.  N2N is one of favorite brands so I wasn’t expecting anything less than another A+ pair of undies.  The Spartan line runs the gamut from thong and jocks to briefs and trunks.  I received grey/orange but they are also available in mint green/yellow and white with red & navy accents.  When I first opened the package I immediately loved the color combination and the fun, Greek-inspired waistband.  I’m a pretty simple guy but a little flair here and there is a nice touch.  The fabric is 95% cotton and 5% spandex so it’s very soft and has a good amount of stretch.  I did expect this to be a “fun” jock rather than an actual gym jock mainly because the leg straps are quite thick and closer to an assess briefs, which in my experience is not very practical for exercise.

I kept thinking of a day to wear these and was putting it off and then realized I needed to get this review in ASAP so I ended up wearing them all day at work.  Certainly not my plan but there is something fun about being “forced” to wear something…but that’s for a different blog, I suppose.  These actually held up a lot better than I would think for a work day and I actually think they’re better suited for regular wear than active wear.

I wore a medium and they fit well.  The size chart says it covers 30”-34” which is a pretty big range.  I’m generally a 31-32 and was fine but I think if you’re a 34, they might be a bit snug.

My favorite features of the Spartan Jock are definitely the nice fabric and the fun waistband.  I loved the color I received but the others look great, as well, and I definitely want to try the thong and brief.  N2N is great about having simple, modern designs but also offering things with a twist when you want to step out a little – or a lot.  I could have used a bit more stretch in the leg area but I’ve got tree trunk legs so a good portion of that issue is just me.  The “straps” are also pretty thick and did gather every so often but it wasn’t really a problem.  The pouch is supportive and shows things off the right amount for me.

I must admit that jocks and assess briefs are never my go-to underwear and yet I have several of both.  When comparing these to the others, they definitely rank in the top 3 or 4 – not just in the style department but they were actually more comfortable that I was expecting and ended up being a nice surprise.   I also got a surprise when a coworker saw the waistband and made a comment about the pattern.  He knows I’m into undies so it wasn’t out of line but did perk me up a bit when I realized this pair will get a nice reaction!   🙂

Fetish Friday -Have you ever wondered what your follow UNB readers love in fetishwear? I think we all want to know what another guy likes. This is out of curiosity for me. What are other guys wearing and why do they wear that style? Over the course of UNB I have had the pleasure to talk to numerous readers about what they love. Fetishwear is starting to go mainstream. There is less social stigma about it and wearing it. It’s something we have noticed in the last few years. Even our straight underwear loving brothers are “getting their freak on.”

In our reader survey we ran in May, we asked you guys what you love in fetishwear. This is just the top six answers. The rest were one off and a few mentioned Jockstraps and thongs.

UNB Favorite Fetishwear

48% of you guys love spandex. This includes runners, singlets, bike shorts and more. By in far the most popular of the fetish world. The second is Lingerie (Lace) at 18% of you love putting on something fun. Third is the other end of the spectrum, 15% enjoy Leather and harnesses. 12% are unsure about fetishwear. 4% love Rubber/latex and 3% are fans of mesh .

This is a wide range of different tastes in fetishwear. Leather and lace are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Now that we know what you guys love. What are some of your favorite fetish brands? We asked this as well and you guys told us. Here are the top brands you guys picked:

This list reflects the likes you guys listed above. Its a good mix of different types of gear. Gregg Homme has a bit of everything. Some of the best made underwear in the fetish area. N2N Bodywear is known for its super hot spandex gear, Andrew always blows it out of the water. Nasty Pig, Fort Troff, Cellblock 13, Mr. S Leather all reflect the more leather side of the spectrum. BodyAware and Candyman are known for lace and more lingerie. ManStore has some really fun gear that falls in several categories. Lastly is Cocksox, which I don’t consider fetishwear, but you guys do!

We will be bringing you a good mix of Fetishwear coming up. That doesn’t mean we won’t throw in some interesting gear as it comes out! Have fun and wear what you love!

BS2-16-6N2N Bodywear is releasing some new lines in June. The first is the Nitro Patriot and the second is the Basic Gym Collection. The one we are going to cover now is the Nitro Patriot. The Nitro line was released last year. Its a mix of solid and mesh design. It’s very daring for swimwear to have mesh. At least I think so. When I think of swimwear, I rarely thing of mesh.

Last year the Nitro was available in several different colors. When the new N2N line was released I was sad to see that it wasn’t being continued. I think it’s super sexy and daring for the guys who want to show off. Then about a week ago, I thought I saw the Nitro Patriot on a social media site. But, I couldn’t go back and find  it. Then when I went on N2N’s site last week I saw it!

The new Nitro has a very stars and stripes design. The front has a pouch made out of blue material with white stars. The back has a band of red stripes with the N2N Bodywear logo. Just like the previous collection, they have mesh around the sides and around the back. It shows just enough skin but you won’t show it all off.

Where would you wear this pair? That’s a very good question and I can hear many of you asking yourself this very question. You can wear it to a beach, but make sure it’s one where thongs are legal. I would say probably most of our readers would wear the Nitro to a private pool or private function. But, we aren’t one to judge, if you feel awesome in this pair go out and wear it where you dare!

We all love underwear! We have a our favorite styles, colors and brands. However, there are things we really don’t like in underwear. You guys have very specific things you hate. Many of you aren’t afraid to share it in our survey. This year we had some new things get reported and other things were similar to last year. One big difference from last year, is you guys really voiced yourselves very well. Many of you were very specific about what things you don’t like. Fell free when we do a survey to tell us exactly what annoys you.

Let’s Look at the overall list. This was a question without any prefilled answers. This all came from you guys. There were some similarities that most guys shared and some very specific ones we have never had before. Here is the broad view of the data:

annoying UNB 2

Aren’t bar graphs sexy? I’m a little rusty with Excel and had to wrestle with it to give me this graph!

Most Annoying Factors:

Sizing

  • Sizing is the biggest issue you guys have by far. It mainly centered around no universal sizing charts for brands. How things differ from brand to brand and country to country. You guys want better sizing across the board. This is a big ask and I’m afraid to say that it won’t be changing anytime soon.

Pouch Issues

  • You maybe thinking this is about guys well endowed. We did have some guys complain about that, but for the most part it was guys wanting a supportive pouch. Regardless of endowment, a good and defined pouch is top of the list. Most reported they hate when a pouch looses its shape as well.

Construction Issues

  • This one had several issues. The two things that stuck out the most were seams and leg openings. You guys hate seams that are sewn bad. Ones that are itchy and are abrasive. The other issue are leg openings. Specifically ones that are tight and restricting. This included briefs and boxer briefs.

Support and Comfort

  • This is a given I think in great underwear. Many mentioned underwear that looses its shape when wearing it. You guys want underwear that fits well and holds up to your day. Regardless of if you are at home, work or at the gym. Personally, I think this has a lot to do with construction, fabric and design.

Tags/Labels

  • This is one of my big ones. It made our list again this year. Nothing can ruin a pair of underwear more than a bad tag. I have had ones that fit amazing and then a tag that is itchy or scratchy, just ruins it. A few of you guys mentioned this alone. Several just put “tags.”

You guys told us some new things this year that haven’t been on our list last year. While not in the top 5, we wanted to showcase some of these that are new!

Butt Issues

  • Ok, I didn’t know what else to call it. But this year we saw a growth in guys who hate underwear that rides up when they have junk in the trunk. This was number 7 on our list. Guys with fuller backsides face different issues than those who don’t.

Society Issues

  • This year you guys pointed out how guys should be able to buy underwear in mainstream stores. You guys want to be able to go out and buy what you want where you want. Without any judgement or being called “gay.” Women can buy anything at Victoria’s Secret, and you guys want that freedom.

Store Selections

  • This mirrors above to some extent. You guys mentioned that many stores have a lack luster selection of underwear. We aren’t talking underwear stores but big department stores. They just carry a few brands. Also included are styles as well. A few pointed out that stores don’t sell thongs for men. I wasn’t expecting this in the survey but great to see!

Partner Issues

  • This showing 1 person pointed this out but I think there were two. This basically is having a supportive partner who appreciates your love of underwear. Someone you can share it with. This spans both gay and straight guys. We have heard it the last few years on both sides. Although, I think more has to be done on the straight side. We all want a supportive partner in things we like!

These are the things you guys have issues with undies. It’s great to find out what you guys like and don’t like. We hope to share some of this info with brands so they can use the feedback in underwear designing for the future.

WHAT DO YOU GUYSThe last few weeks we have been going through our Reader Survey and compiling all the data. Some sets are easier than others. One we profiled some data last year and this year we are going to put . It’s what you guys love in undies. Specifically what you look for in new undies. What are the qualities you seek in your decision making process.

Here is what you guys told us!

New Undies Graph

The top factors for choosing new undies are the following;

  1. Fabric
  2. Pouch
  3. Cut
  4. Style
  5. Color

There are many more factors in buying underwear. Most guys listed several different criteria for new underwear. These five are the most common factors.

Fabric

Is the most important factor for you guys. Some guys want a specific type of fabric. We had a few who mentioned 100% cotton underwear. While others wanted good quality fabric that holds up to wear and tear. Above all else it had to be comfortable and feel good against the skin.

Pouch

Pouch was one that was very high on the list. You maybe surprised that it’s not just endowed guys who want a pouch. Many guys mentioned they hate underwear that doesn’t have a defined pouch built in. Some others commented on a pouch that as too small and constricting. The majority of the guys commented on how they wanted great support in undies. The pouch is key to the support. This includes ergonomically designed pouches.

Cut

Cut means different things to many people. We took it to mean the kind of undies it is. It could be a brief, thong, boxer brief, jock and etc. We have readers who are very loyal to one style. Most guys love briefs and bikinis. Also, thongs were mentioned by a few guys. Some guys took it a bit further and mentioned string bikinis and g-strings.

Style

Style was one section that could go by what cut it was (brief, boxer brief, etc) and fashionable scale. We had guys mention both in this section. It was a little hard to determine who meant what and why. When we could we separated out cuts when we could. Most who are in this category want something fun that matches the rest of their fashion style.

Color

Last is color. Color in this features both solid colors and prints. Many of our guys love a specific color and also hate a specific color. It can rule in or out a pair of underwear to purchase. This year we had more mention prints. The prints in men’s underwear grew greatly this year. More of our readers want them and seek them out!

There is one surprise is Price. Very few guys actually mentioned price is a factor in new underwear. Its usually one of the top things for me. Also, brand wasn’t a major factor either. We have some pretty brand loyal readers. It maybe that guys were more focused on the physical things and not brand or price.

This is the first part of many more to come. We hope you enjoy this look at what guys who read the site look for in new undies.

If you are in the States, the 4th of July is right around the corner. If you are going to spend a day out on the beach/pool, think about getting something patriotic. Some take the patriotic theme literal and others like the Patriot Swim Trunk is a more abstract take on it.

You guys may know BodyAware from their super sexy mens underwear and lingerie lines. I bet there are quite a few out there who didn’t know they made swimwear. This years swim line is pretty hot this year. We posted the video that BodyAware did to announce their swimwear. They even have a swim thong this year!

The Patriot Swim Trunk is more of a brief cut. It’s a bigger brief than we have been profiling. It could be a great first pair for any guy wanting to venture into wearing a swim brief in pubic. This is what BodyAware says about this pair: “Smooth, sleek and stunningly fresh: the newest line-up of BodyAware swim gear features a handsome swim trunk constructed of glistening medium-weight nylon/spandex, with a contrast waistband and stripe down one side. Side stripe has grommets for a bit of show-through, and comfortable waist has a hidden drawstring that is finished with metallic tabs. Inner lining in the front and a full shaped back”

The design of the Trunk is a little conservative for BodyAware. I’m used to having body accenting designs and smaller cuts. This is not a bad thing. I think there should be a mix of both in a collection when ever possible. They do put their own spin on the pair in the black and pink color combo. This pair looks great in both combinations.

Why is this great for a first time swim brief wearer? The bigger cut will make some guys feel more comfortable. The front is fully lined and you won’t be showing off any VPL, well for the most part. It has a great price and not too expensive. The design isn’t over the top and you can say you bought it for the 4th celebrations. However, if you want to go a bit bolder the black/pink is a great option too.

Make sure you go see some of the more revealing pairs in the new BodyAware line.

Guest: Nate

Hello readers, we’re going to get straight to the point today with Nate on the Pouch Couch.

Beau: Usually I save this question for later but let’s get right to it, are there examples of pouches that aren’t functional but fun that you own?

Nate: No, not really. I have some that don’t support me as I like, but nothing out of the ordinary about the pouches of the underwear I own. Guess I’m a bit boring there.

Beau: There is nothing “boring” when it comes to undies, no matter what, they’re fun to someone.

Beau: Anything changed with your preference over time?

Nate: No, my pouch preference hasn’t changed, since I started wearing bikinis and thongs.

Beau: Which brands make your favorite pouches?

Nate: Prevail Sport, Kiniki, BodyAware, Dietz all make pouches that work for me. Others do too, but those are some of my main brands.

Beau: Going off of that, what are some of your favorite pouches?

Nate: Prevail Sport’s String Brief is my favorite cut of bikini underwear and the pouch suits me fine, which is a basic contoured pouch. A flat front one from BodyAware called The TLC Brief is a snugger fit, but still comfortable and excellent support.

Beau: What is the most important thing you look for in a pouch?

Nate: Mainly I just want good support, so I’m not flopping or moving around and have to adjust myself.

Beau: So with that in mind, do you want strong structure or loosey goosey?

Nate: I typically want structure. I like everything held in place. A little flexibility is okay like when lounging around.

Beau: What defines the perfect pouch in your mind?

Nate: As long as it holds everything in place I’m not too picky. Can be a typical contoured pouch or a flat front as long as the material is right for the designed job of supporting.

Beau: How does the look of a pouch influence you?

Nate: The pouch doesn’t really play too much of a role in picking on a pair other than I want one that looks supportive. I look more at other aesthetics like the width of the sides and amount of back or nonback coverage. I guess there is one thing that I do like, but doesn’t break the deal is when they have a centered flat seam connecting the two pieces of the contoured pouch together.

Beau: Any last thoughts while you’re on the Pouch Couch?

Nate: Just have fun experimenting with different pouches and find what you like best. That is one thing fun about underwear is trying out new styles and design. Some will be a hit and some will be a miss.

Hopefully more hits than misses.

Beau: YES! That’s what I’m always saying, go out there and experiment. There’s new stuff coming out every day so get out there and explore.

I was a little concerned about the pouch being too roomy after my experience with the N2N Vintage G, but the Slik G’s pouch is right on to my liking. N2N calls it a seamless front pouch, which is the look that it gives you of a smooth front pouch. The pouch does have some stitching at the base of the pouch to give it some contouring.

I really like the back cut of this thong. It’s a little skimpier than a traditional cut thong where the sides come to create the tail. You know where you get the triangle right above the cheeks. How it is cut, you don’t have a lot of fabric between the cheeks at the top. The tail is a pretty consistent width all the way down through the cheeks. You still get the sexy traditional thong look for your backside with the Slik G. You do feel you have a thong on with these. I think it is part to the thickness of the elastic that is used, but it’s still comfortable. They just give you the reminder you are a stud in a thong.

Here’s some specifics about the thong. The thong feature a small N2N logo tag on the right hip. I find this refreshing from the blazing elastic waistbands promoting brand names. The tail is about 7/8″ wide and the sides are about 1″. The pouch does seem pretty supportive. I’d consider wearing them for something active like sports. They’re made out of 92% polyester and 8% spandex, which gives them a silky or satiny feel with some stretch. The N2N brand is made in Los Angeles. It’s available in 4 colors: brown, teal, dark gray, and slik sand.

Only modification I’d make to the thong is a little narrower front pouch. That would not stop me from getting the thong in another color though. Overall this is a great fitting thong and I would recommend giving one a try.

The Bottom Drawer Underwear Collection and ManagementA reader asked about the size of our collections and how we manage them in terms of deciding what to keep, what to wear on a daily basis, etc. Here’s kind of how I handle mine. First off, I use to think I had a large collection of underwear. That perception changed some, since I started blogging. I’ve heard the amount of what others have and it seems I need to go on a buying binge. At the moment I’m approaching 175 pairs of bikinis and thongs. I’m slightly weighted more towards bikinis than thongs, but not by much.

I first separate my underwear into what I call old, but still good to wear and then my good ones. So I have about 125 I consider good and 50 I consider old. Now the old pairs I wear more when I’m planning on getting sweaty, since sweat can be hard on the material and elastic. The good obviously would be my everyday pairs. When does good become old and old become retired? Basically old underwear gets retired if the elastic is shot or develops a hole. Good underwear becomes old if it has been around a while, fades, or gets discolored. Also any general signs of wear or one I don’t really wear much and don’t care about.

What I choose to wear for the day normally just depends on my mood in the morning. If I’m in the mood for a thong I go for it otherwise it will be a bikini. Some days I want a real nice snug fitting pair; other days just whatever. If I know I’m going to be active like playing a sport then it will be a great supporting pair. If I know I might be seen in my undies then I most likely won’t go too crazy with my choice. Typically that means no thong and nothing too loud or sheer. I’m finally past the point that I don’t care too much if I’m seen in a bikini that is a little on the skimpy side. Now it doesn’t mean I try to let the world see, but if someone gets a peek so be it. Next step is to get to that point with a thong. I’m not one to match my underwear to my outfit. I have enough trouble matching tops and bottoms as is. I try to match for the holiday or occasion, since my wife points out when I don’t. That’s the general idea on how I manage my undies.
