ShrineChallengeHiResHave you ever wanted to design your own pair of underwear? Well Shrine Boxers is giving you that chance! They launched a contest to have you guys design the perfect pair. After the final six are picked it then gets voted on! The winner then goes into production! How cool is that? I will admit I would love to design a pair of undies and have guys across the world wear them!

I got a chance to talk to Rob, the owner, at Shine Boxers yesterday and here is what he said about the contest and brand “Shrine Boxers has created the ultimate underwear that keep you cool and comfortable in every situation. We are getting ready for our upcoming Kickstarter launch by holding our first Underwear Design Challenge. Almost every other underwear brands have boring branding on their waistbands, not Shrine Boxers. Our waistbands feature bold styling designed and voted into production by you. Now the only decision you have to make in the morning is: Boxers or Boxer-Briefs?”

He also told me on the call he read my “I hate boxer briefs” post and said that their boxer briefs were going to change my mind. I told him to BRING IT! I met him back in February in Vegas at the UNB Meet and Greet we have a Magic. The first thing I noticed is he’s taller than me, which is rare being 6’4″, and has a really cool back story. We will bring you that soon!

But in the mean time go over and design a pair of underwear. You can do it on the site or download an illustrator or Photoshop file and enter! You can design as much as you like so go have fun! The address for the contest is http://try.shrineboxers.com/challenge/

CD1-14-2One of my personal favorite underwear brands is N2N Bodywear. They currently hold the title of one of my fave pairs of briefs that I own. I was vey excited to be presented with the chance to review their new jockstrap from the California Dreamin’ collection. With all of the new jockstraps on the market, it is nice to keep involved with the traditional style we are all used to. The jockstrap has a great small front pouch that is colorful with greens, yellows, red, and purples. I love seeing that a company can incorporate so much color into such a small space and make it look fantastic. The only fabric on this pair is a small section covering the front and they did it justice. Apart from the color scheme, the fabric is so comfortable. The minute I touched it I knew I would no problem with comfort in the front. The straps of the jockstrap are basic black, contrasting the pouch nicely.

As usual, I take chances with my underwear and wear them for a whole workday. I find it to be quite the challenge and a good test of true love with a pair. When I first slipped it on, I noticed that it hugged me quite tighter than most jocks I have worn recently. The waistband was a rougher material than several other pairs I am used to which I was worried may cause some discomfort. There was nothing major that I noticed throughout the day but the waistband did rub rough at various actions throughout the day. Such as pulling the front down to go to the bathroom. Again, this is small but noticeable. The straps that wrap around the butt did not have the same feeling to me as the waistband. They fit tight and added support which I could feel from the moment I slid them on. As N2N Bodywear says “this jock feels AMAZING under your jeans.” They did not lie! It felt AMAZING! I loved the feeling all day long. It is important to note that the slight discomfort with the waistband would not keep me from wearing this jock again.

I wear a medium and this pair fits true to size. I will say that it felt like it ran on the smaller of the medium side than the larger medium side. I could tell a difference when sliding them on and off but that would not make me buy a larger size. Although I felt it tighter in these cases, I did not think the front pouch was too small and I had enough room and comfort all day. I still believe the medium is accurate.

Thanks again N2N Bodywear for another great pair!

Pros:

  • Soft, comfortable front pouch
  • Pop of color
  • Good, back jock support

Cons: –

  • Rough waistband
  • Tighter fit might concern people with sizing issues

Pik-8388-Concept_1Pikante has released their new Fall/Winter 2014 Collection. Over the last few year Pikante has gone to the wild side! Not saying this is a bad thing. Letting your wild side out is something you have to do every so often! The theme for this year is metallics, mesh and pouch enhancing (well more show off than enhancing).

I really like this collection because it’s super fun. Pikante is not one of those companies to make the same things over and over. They have a few staples but most are new designs, styles and fabrics. My favorite from this collection is the Amadeus Boxer in gray (Main pic above). Just something super sexy to me about it.

I would like to think that this line would be worn all the time and not as a fetish pair. I mean I’d love to see some metallics worn under a suit, khakis or uniform. Make the day better with some super fun underwear! If this is too Tame for you they have pairs that your business will fit in and show off totally, that pair is the Castro Brief. I’m not sure they would be great work pairs but I could see them for a date night.

I just wanted to inform you guys on the new line is out! To check out the line go to GDD World and see every pair in this collection. We will bring you more on specific pairs soon but enjoy some of the lifestyle pics of the brand

Aware SOHO Brazil Collection

You may have thought the Brazil fever in underwear had passed now that the World Cup is over. You would be wrong! In just two years the world will come to Rio for the Summer Olympics! So this will bring a whole new round of Brazil inspired undies. The latest in the Brazil themed underwear is Aware SOHO.

The new line has a Brazil Flag print with an Aware SOHO branded waistband. Which appears to be centered in the front. This is one thing more underwear companies are doing. It costs a little more but it seems you guys really like having a centered waistband. But back to the undies. The pairs pictured above (from left to right) Boxer Brief, Brief and Trunk.

Each one is made out of 95% cotton/5% Elastine fabric. Which sill make it comfy and soft! This would be a great pair to wear under your work clothes. It’s a pair with a little flash and interesting pattern! I really like the design of the print. From a distance you may not be able to tell its the Brazil flag (at least I didn’t at first) but once close you can clearly see it.

If you are a fan and want to see this and more head over to Aware SOHO site.

PX6-13-BHow appropriate that I post a review for a boxer brief the same week I post “I hate boxer briefs” Well I don’t have them but hate a section of them. As you will see in this review.

I totally forgot I had this pair to review and decided to wear them on my trip to LA. Which I think partly wore because I saw N2N at the LA Eagle that night for the Hard Heroes party. Which was a lot of fun (except the jet lag). So I put these on when I did the final things to get ready for my flight. I didn’t leave till 5 PM so I had plenty of time. While doing things I did something I haven’t done in a while. I turned this pair inside out. Why you ask? Because the tag just irritated me so much. I thought about taking it off but realized I could just flip them.

Once I had them inside out, they were pretty good. I love the fit of these because they are very tight in the legs, but not too tight. They really breathed with me through out my journey. And the pouch was amazing! I love the pouch they have created and have had very few that I haven’t loved!

These got put through their paces on this day. More so than most pairs I review. Here is the day I had….I get to the airport, get checked in and head to security. The sign said 10 minutes, but it ended up taking more than 35 minutes. I glanced at my watch and had 15 minutes to get to the gate before boarding. I was like “No problem” It’s a short train ride down and I”ll be there. But that wasn’t meant to be! I rounded the corner and the trains in the ATL airport wasn’t working. They were holding everyone up and not letting them go down to the transportation mall. So my 15 minute window was slowly closing. In about 5 minutes they let people down and I could still make it. But the train got one concourse away form mine and stayed there. After 7 minutes, and yes I timed it, I got off the train and started to walk. Well everyone else had this idea had to duck and weave between people.

I make my way over to the concours and basically had to fight my way to the escalator. I get on and head up to the concourse. Which is a good thing because when I get near the top I hear security say “don’t let anyone else up”. After I get up there I realize why, there are about 2,000 people waiting to go down and they are lined up ¼ way down the concourse. I start running at this point to the gate. I have my backpack with my camera, ipad, computer and more. This backpack weighs about 35 pounds. But there is one thing that I didn’t count on. I took my belt off at TSA and didn’t put it back on. So my shorts were falling down. So here I go running down the concourse yanking my shorts up as I go. But I get there right when they start boarding!

Well this pair felt amazing because It never got in the way. The fabric really breathed by the time I got to the gate I didn’t feel like the fabric absorbed all the sweat. I’m sure we have all had these pairs, and then I would have to sit for over 5 hours in a plane, it would not have been good. Turning them inside out was a blessing. If it hadn’t the tag would have just made things worse. So if this pair could stand up to a mad dash to the gate , it would be a great pair to work out or do kickball, tennis or anything else active. This is going to be one of my favorite N2N pairs, I’m actually wearing it again as I type this review (yes its inside out). So this is one of the first times I used an athletic pair in a review situation!

I almost forgot the sizing. I think if you’re a fan of N2N you know your size. They have been consistent. I got a large and I’m a 38 waist now and it fit me fine. Make sure you check the size chart for your correct size.

Pros:

  • Great pouch
  • Breathable Materials
  • Held it shape all day
  • Perfect for an active guy

Cons;

  • The tag was irritating
  • Wish they had more colors than black.

Ratings:

  • Daily Fit – 7
  • Sizing – 9

If you are a fan of colors, the new aussieBum line Palette is one you need to check out. The new hipster line is available in three different colors. Those colors are blue, green and pink. They aren’t super bright but a little more subdued and very nice! I’m loving the green pair most. Green is my all time favorite underwear color!

The pair is also made out of Pima Cotton. Pima is ultra soft and will be super comfy on top of it. For those who need a bit more space in the pouch, this one has it! This is great for the endowed guys, but don’t worry the pouch will fit any one out there. It’s not too roomy for average guys.

The last thing I love is the waistband. The waistband is a bespoke metallic waistband. It’s a really cool waistband. I like how the BUM is in a different color. I will say great job over all aussieBum! You can find it at the aussieBum site for $23.74

9-3-14-1Andrew Christian is no stranger to undies that dare to bare! Earlier this year I reviewed the Valentines Peek-a-boo brief. I was impressed by the pouch. Many times you get one of these pairs and you fall out. The pouch is made out of the Almost Naked so you know its one that will conform to you and hold everything in place!

Andrew has taken this pair on step further. You may ask how could you do that with a pair where you can lift the pouch up for easy access! The change is the sides and back (just the top inch or so) is mesh. The black mesh def makes this pair stand out! It adds a bit of sexiness without being too over the top! Mesh has been a big trend in men’s underwear for the last few years and more companies are finding creative uses of the fabric. Not all are showing everything but more are using in an accent like this pair.

One thing the write up on the AC site says is it feels like you aren’t wearing underwear. This is definitely the Almost Naked line. The pouch is designed to ergonomically hold you all day in a natural position. You won’t be uncomfortable all day in these. The Almost Naked is one of my favorite lines of underwear just for this reason. I don’t know how AC came up with it but it’s amazing!

If you’re interested in this pair check it out at the Andrew Christian site. It’s retailing for $28.93

thierry-pepin-for-gregg-homme-01Each morning we stand naked in front of our dresser and closet wondering what to put on today.  We are a blank canvas, choosing clothing that fits our mood, our day, and our lifestyle.  How do we make these decisions?  And more importantly, how do we try something new?

Right now, I have one underwear drawer. The left side consisting of my basics and the right side consisting of my more adventurous pairs.  I look at both sides and wonder to myself what to wear for the day?  Have you ever thought to yourself, “Hmm I should wear this Gregg Homme thong today?”  Or “I want to wear my new N2N Bodywear jockstrap.”  These are typically not the first pairs we think of when we get dressed for our day in the morning.  Instead we grab the trusty Calvin Klein brief because we know it inside and out.  We all know what fits our body best or what is most comfortable but how do we try something new?

No one wants to be caught away from home in uncomfortable underwear with nowhere to run!  There is nothing worse than putting on a pair at 8:00am and by 11:00am sitting at your desk, wondering to yourself how you got yourself into this mess!  Here are some tips for trying new underwear out.  If you are cautious about going an 8 hour work day in a brand new pair, here is a great 3 step plan for you.  First, slip them on one Saturday morning as you are home.  Wear them around the house, doing chores and what not to see how they feel.  This gives you some good movement and if they are not working out, another pair is right in the other room.  Just make sure you don’t write them off too early before giving them a fair chance!  Once you make it through an hour at home in the new pair, take them for a test run on a few short errands.  Pick a few places not too far from home to see how they feel out in the real world.  Again, this is a great way to see how your comfort level is in your new pair without being stranded.  Hopefully by now you will know if this pair is going to measure up to your standards and be a great addition to  your drawer.  The last step is to finally take the pair through a long day at work.  A great way to add a little ease to your mind is to take a spare comfortable pair of underwear. Knowing that if any time during the day you can’t handle it anymore, sneak into the bathroom and change pairs!  It will be better than suffering through the day, never trying new underwear again, or freeballing!

For those of you more adventurous, slip on that new pair of underwear and head off to work, knowing that no matter what, you are wearing them until 5:00pm!  Think about the fact that you will be sitting in a meeting with your coworkers, suits all around the table and the guy next to you does not know that you are currently wearing a pink mesh thong.  Imagine your boss calling you into his office, telling you that you need to put yourself out there more but what he does not know is that under your suit, the Andrew Christian C-Ring Brief that you are currently wearing has no front pouch and you are definitely putting yourself out there underneath that suit.  It’s adventurous, it’s sexy, and it’s part of who we are as underwear men.

At the end of the day, make sure you wear underwear that makes you feel sexy, gives you confidence, and comforts you.  Be open to try new pairs whether it is for an hour on the weekend in the privacy of your own home or throughout a grueling work day.  You may surprise yourself on what you find you love!

6122317-nahe-telo-v-reklamachI know for many of you out there, hate is a strong word. But I will admit I am not a big fan of boxer briefs. There have been a few times that I have tried them for reviews and they fit great. But those are few and far between! You maybe asking why I hate them…. Well where should I start?

First thing is most of the pairs I have tried, with a few exceptions, have no pouch. I’m a guy who needs more room up front and to have everything supported. So, when a pair doesn’t hold its shape and all my business isn’t supported it drives me insane. This has caused me to take pairs off midday and either put on another pair or just free ball. The pairs I have liked from Unico and a few others have a pouch built in.

Next reason I hate them is they are too loose. I know we have readers who say what’s wrong with that? Well I’m a firm believer of to each their own, but for me I like undies that are tight and keep everything in place. I remember back in the day getting my first pair of boxer briefs from CK, (Right when they came out), it was early 90’s and I spend prob $22 on them. Back in the day when I was a college student, $22 was a lot of money for a pair of undies. I tried them and they bunched up and I kept pulling them down. It was a constant battle to adjust them through out the day. I couldn’t wait to get home and take these off and put on a pair of bikinis. These were made out of 100% cotton fabric with no spandex.

The last reason I hate boxer briefs is similar to above, it’s the legs not staying in place. The legs on most pairs keep riding up and I’ve had my business pop out the leg before. I kid you not. I went why am I wearing underwear if it doesn’t hold me in. It was a constant go to the bathroom and adjust the legs. After this and a few other times I was done!

I want to feel sexy and fun in undies and it I have to constantly adjust them that isn’t happening. So now you maybe asking what boxer briefs do you like? Well I prefer ones that are tight. Made out of a spandex blend that conforms to my body. Not pure 100% cotton that has not support. Second, I like a pouch built in that gives me support all day long. Lastly the legs are just as tight and don’t ride up. I have tired several long boxers and enjoyed them because they stayed in place!

Ok so what style drives you crazy wearing? Share with us in a comment below! BTW if you’re wondering what happened to the CK boxer briefs, I gave them to a friend.

racer-navy-underwear-0_4There is something comforting about being part of a team. At UNB, I have been able to become part of a great underwear team. A team that brings the underwear loving public what they need and want to know about all things underwear! You can imagine my excitement when Teamm8 became my newest teammate in my underwear drawer.

I received the Teamm8 Racer Brief in Navy. The look of this brief is very athletic and sporty, living up to the company name. It has the athletic theme stripes in the front around the package and a great orange and navy color combination up against the white waistband. A look that I think portrays team spirit. The pair is a cotton and elastane mix which is a great combination for comfortable wear all day. Like many underwear companies today, they allow for extra room in the pouch for the more endowed men and a fuller cut in the back for the butt men.

I wore the pair through my typical work day as I normally do with my new underwear pairs. To me, it is important to see if a pair can handle an average day, otherwise it does not pop up in rotation too often. This pair did not disappoint! I was comfortable all day long. I did not have any problems with chaffing, riding up, or excessive adjustment.

I wear a medium and when I received this pair it was a small. I was nervous because my first thought was “oh great these won’t fit.” I was wrong. They fit me great. I was pleasantly surprised that a small fit me so well and they did not feel too small throughout the day. Teamm8’s website does reference this by saying “if you don’t need the extra room, just order a size smaller.” Although this is good advice before purchasing, it may confuse many customers who wonder if they are endowed enough or have a bigger butt for their normal size or a size down. I consider myself average but would have not ordered a small just from my typical ordering habits.

Overall, if you get the right size, you won’t be disappointed when you wear the pair. They say there is no “I” in team but I sure am glad that I am in this Teamm8 pair!

Pros:

  • Extra room in the front and back
  • Comfortable material
  • Appealing, sporty look

Cons:

  • Sizing concerns
  • Low color selection

fetishwear-pollNothing is more fun to write about on the blog than fetishwear. On our blog we have heard from gay/str8/bi guys who love it! It’s no longer relegated to the leather bars and fetish nights in back rooms. Over the last few years it has moved mainstream with Gregg Homme, Cellblock13, Nasty Pig, Rufskin and a few more brands.

We are curious if you guys love wearing it? Feel free to post comments here about you love of it, questions or comments. But vote below and let us know what you think!
