Turlock&Co. Season 2 – Capitola Sunset

Turlock & Co has a new collection, which is a second installment of the Capitola Series. This is collection is the Capitola Sunset and it contains  6 additional prints to showcase the Art Deco and Coastal style of Capitola California. Turlock & Co have kept with their same cut and refined drawstrings but added geometric, natural, and striped patterns.

Here is what they told us about collection and the awesome shoot they did:

This season we decided to take our shoot away from the beach and shot at a beachouse, to get some strong contrast of white buildings and colourful prints,  We also used new Model Perry Lewis Smith. @perry.ls on instagram.  Fit and lean with amazing blue eyes, and we will see the return of Mitchell @mitch_fit_model in a few weeks time,

We have upped the game with a re-tweaked logo and graphic design features and our new colour of Navy Blue.

The best news is that later this year we will expand our range. New low cut block colours are on their way, and 6 pairs of new swim shorts.  The shorts are great. they will have 4 way stretch, lightweight materials that dry quickly but the best part is they have an elastic waist band in the back and standard waistband with loophole ties in the front. we did this to accommodate boys with big thighs and smaller waists however the fit is great for anyone!  they will be well priced at about 45.00 USD.

Check out the new collection at the Turlock & Co website.

I love swimwear that is bold and fun. I am not one for always wearing solids. Nothing wrong with that and yes I have some, but I love creative prints and fun. One company that does it is Yes I am. I wanted to profile a few of my favorite suits

Leo on Fire – This brief is amazing. The leopard print has fire on the back. I just thought it was something new and fun.

Sunset Pink Brief – Pink swimwear is always hot. Something about it that I just love and have worn a few times. I need more. This print is whimsical and fun

Lollipop Brief – I am a sucker for this pair, LOL sorry for the pun. But the lollipop print is amazing. At first I thought it was cherries but nope. I top my hat to the designers because it’s awesome.

Leo Blue Brief – Who said you had to do literal animal print? This blue leopard is super hot and we may find more fans of the animal prints.

These are just a few of the amazing prints and pairs. Go to their site and check out everything.

JOR furnished the 1028 Shark Swim Bikini for review. All opinions are that of the reviewer.

Rating: 9/10

  • Daily Fit: 9/10
  • Sizing: 8/10
  • Construction: 10/10
  • Styling: 9/10
  • Daily Performance: 9/10

Pros:

  • Fun print
  • Comfortable fabric
  • Stylish bikini cut

Cons:

  • Sizing
  • No drawstring
  • Letters/numbers printed on back won’t be for everyone

If you’ve listened to the most recent UNB Podcast, you’ll know that summer swimwear season is NOT canceled. So what better time to review a new swim bikini, right before the summer heat arrives!

The first thing I noticed about the JOR 1028 Shark Swim Bikini was how soft it felt. If you’re going to lounge by a pool or catch some sun in your backyard, this would work well for an afternoon in the sun.

The second thing I noticed is the bikini cut. The style is just a bit skimpier than a tradition swim brief, both my package and butt were covered, there’s just a little sexy hint of butt cheek sticking out. This is right up my alley, but some may prefer to opt for a fuller swim brief cut.

I love the design of the pouch. It is styled to appropriately hold a man’s equipment, without being obscene. I think it has the right balance of sex appeal, while still being something you could wear on a crowded beach (if that ever becomes a thing again). Some may want a little extra room, but I felt that everything fit nice and snug, which I personally like.

One of the downsides of this bikini comes to the sizing. While everything was able to fit in, I felt as if I was just barely fitting in….the pouch, the back, the sides. Admittedly, the quarantine has added on some pounds, so I won’t deduct too many points for that. I know that some prefer to go up a size in JOR, so my advice is to look closely at the size chart. If you’re towards the top of a size range, you may consider going up, if you don’t want an overly snug fit. Be careful not to go up too high though, as there’s no drawstring to help hold things in if it’s too big.

Finally, let’s talk about the print itself. The name may confuse you at first, or at least it did for me because I thought this was a camouflage print at first. Look closely though and you’ll see the sharks in the design. It’s a fun print overall, though I’m personally not a huge fan of the lettering and numbers on the back.

Overall, this is a great bikini with great design and construction. Spend a little time reviewing their size chart to ensure you get the right fit, and you’ll be set!

We had a new swimwear brand contact us. I love bringing you guys new brands you may not have heard of before. I really like this brand called, Jimaye Swimwear. They have an interesting story and make some awesome swimwear. I asked them to send us some information about their brand and here is what they sent:

Jimaye Swimwear started because of my own struggles with swimwear. To start, I wanted swim briefs, which are not very common in the USA. Of the couple of brands in the USA that do swim briefs, they all had tacky designs, horrible fits, low-quality fabrics, or sold for $150 per brief. I didn’t understand why a little piece of fabric sewn together cost so much.

So I went on a mission to make it more affordable while maintaining quality, sophisticated designs, great fits, and then taking it one step further: Instead of giving customers one design, our reversible swim briefs give customers two designs. That means you carry less, buy less, pack less, but you have MORE. In addition, we created two fits: slim-fit and muscle-fit to cater to different body types.

Recognizing that not everyone is ready for swim briefs, I decided to add a shorts collection. Like my briefs, I wanted my customers to be able to do more with one piece. I wanted it to be something people could wear in and out of the water so I made them stretch and styled in a way where they look sophisticated for a day on the town as well as a day on the beach.

This year our resort collection features textured swimwear! We just launched our velvet swim briefs and faux suede vers swim shorts. Velvet was a hot trend in women’s swimwear in 2017-2018 but it never made it to men’s swimwear, until now. Our velvet swim briefs collection is inspired by a crystal or gem and the healing powers they possess. Our faux suede shorts are super soft and the only shorts you will ever need. They truly are the definition of luxury.

Lastly, we introduced leather crowns last month and did it like no one has ever done it before. It’s the perfect way to remind everyone in your life that you are royalty.

I recorded a little audio diary about my first year of entrepreneurship that I just posted on my personal facebook. You can listen to it here if you are curious to learn more about who I am!

Check them out at their Website.

It could be a little early to be thinking about swimwear, nah, it’s never too early to think about swimwear! It’s time to get thinking about what you plan to wear this summer. One brand that you def have to check out is Smithers Swimwear.

One pair that you have to get now is the Synergy. This is a limited edition suit that will be won’t be around for long. Here is what Smithers has to say about the pair:

Smithers has produced an exclusive print to celebrate Sydney Mardi Gras. This limited edition crosshatch swimsuit is available in classic briefs and with only a handful made, you won’t want to miss out. The 2020 Sydney Mardi Gras theme is ‘What matters’ and for Smithers, this translates into diversity and inclusion capturing a mix of ethnicities, sexualities, genders, cultures, religion, and of course, bodies of all shapes and sizes. Being a swimwear brand, we recognise the importance of body positivity and we want you and the community we’ve established to not only embrace differences, but to celebrate them. We wish you all a fun, safe and happy Mardi Gras!

I love the design and it’s super creative. I wish this was not a limited edition pair, because I think it would be an all-time best seller in the line up of smithers.

One company that I love to see their new swimwear is Marcuse. Each time they release a line, I love their designs. This year they have a few more swim shorts than in previous collections. Don’t worry, there are still plenty of swim briefs.

This company from down under really does an amazing job each collection. This one has some really amazing colors in their line up. One that is super interesting to me is the Barrack, which has cut outs around the waistband. It’s sexy to me without being over the top

Here is an overview of the collection:

Swim Briefs

Swim Shorts

One of my favorite pairs from Sluggers has been the Banana Hammock. Yes, this is actually the real name of these. When you head out and rock these you can say “Do you like my Banana Hammocks?”

You can bet these will be a big hit this summer down under (yes, summer is about to start), and here in the States. I want a pair myself. I mean how could I not want a pair??

At UNB we are all about all guys wearing what they want and feel sexy wearing. Sluggers as a company do amazing things, they make the patter in a few different styles. Each of these styles are designed to fit a specific body type.

This chart will help you pick the perfect style for your body type! It’s great to see a company do this! No matter your size you will look amazing rocking these swim briefs. This isn’t for this pair but every pair they make!

In the mean time, go to the Sluggers site and pick up your Banana Hammocks!

Not everyone embraces the snug fit and body-conscious cut of the men’s bikini, but we’re on a bit of a mission to get more guys to give it a try.

Our resident photographer Armando Adajartook fitness model Alex Edown to the beach in San Diego and managed to persuade him to pull on our bright and bold bikini styles.

Following the shoot, We caught up with Alex to see if he was a convert.

The verdict on the bikini

Men’s bikini swimwear – or swim-briefs – isn’t a style that we see a lot of on the beaches of North America – most guys tend to favour surf-shorts or swim-trunks. Men wearing bikinis is much more common in Europe, and it’s a style that is fairly universally embraced by gay guys.

“When I first tried them on, I realised how great they are!” confirmed Alex, when we asked him how he felt trying on a bikini for the first time. “Maybe I’m a bit more European in my outlook, but I feel like people should be less afraid of exposing their bodies – there’s just so much freedom and confidence that comes with being comfortable in your skin.”

“What I like about the men’s bikini is that you don’t end up with tan lines in inconvenient places…” added Alex. “Plus, it’s an excuse to show the quads off!”

“This is swimwear that exudes confidence, no matter what your body type is…” advised Alex. “Life is too short to worry about what other people might say or think. The male physique should be celebrated. I feel like the bikini is definitely the style that shows off the male physique the best.”

“If I’m planning a hike or something, I might still opt for shorts or trunks…” considered Alex. “But, for hanging out on the beach, the bikini is definitely where it’s at.”

Embracing an outdoors lifestyle

“I recently moved to San Diego from Oklahoma, so you can imagine how much a previously landlocked guy loves the water…” explains Alex. “My family and friends hate me because I’m on the beach so much. I can’t get enough of it!”

“The beach is the one place I can be active and hike, hang out with friends, or just work on my tan – all in the same day!”

Using Instagram for inspiration

We’ve been following Alex E’s fitness journey through his regular updates on Instagram. We asked him how he stays motivated.

“Growing up, I was always the ultra-skinny kid…” explained Alex. “I’m talking bean-pole-skinny, at 5’11” and 140 pounds. There’s nothing wrong with being lean, but my confidence suffered from it, and as a result, I was bullied throughout school.”

“One day, I decided I wanted to live a healthier, more confident lifestyle, so I picked up the weights and pushed myself…” added Alex. “I ended up falling in love with weightlifting. I love constantly pushing myself in the weight room, and in the rest of my life by extension.”

“I think of Instagram as my fitness log, and if I don’t share my progress, I miss out on being able to look back on how far I’ve come on my fitness journey…” shrugged Alex. “One of the biggest compliments I can get is that I am an inspiration. If I can inspire just one person, I think that documenting my journey is worthwhile. I know what it feels like to be directionless and to lack confidence, so I hope that my fitness journey can help others to find that direction.”

Not just a pretty face

“I’m actually currently applying to medical school…” said Alex, when our conversation turns to goals and aspirations for the months ahead. “I know I’m a nerd, but the sciences and intricacies of the human body are huge passions of mine.”

“I’m also pursuing a modeling career…” added Alex. “Being from Oklahoma, I lacked the resources to pursue modeling, but now I’m going at it full force. I’m hoping to start a career in fitness modeling.”

Yesterday we wrote about beefy guys wearing swim briefs. I wanted to profile a pair for Swimwear Sunday that all guys could wear. Regardless of size, shape and body image. The brand that came to mind is Sluggers. The awesome aussie brand that is for all guys wearing the style! The pair they recommend for all body sizes is the DEETEES. The pair for Swimwear Sunday is the 80s Enough.

If you were alive or a fan of the 80’s you will love this pair. It’s very much an 80’s color block design. Back then the swim briefs were bigger than now and the designs were so much fun. Sluggers says this about the pair, “A navy base with an 80’s inspired sport stripe that would make Marty McFly green with envy.”

Their further description is:

Made with RECYCLED Polyester. These DEETEES used to be plastic water bottles! A mix of polyester and spandex makes for a stretchy fabric and a tighter fit – but still comfy. If you don’t like them too tight – try going up a size. They’re not called Dick Togs for nothing.  7cm side width. Elastic support on legs and waist. White draw string front

Notice that if you’re a fan of the environment, these swim briefs were made from recycled polyester. Specifically, the water bottles you use get turned into these swim briefs. Which is awesome that a clothing company is using this material. It’s one of the few companies that I have seen

Make sure you check out the sizing before you order. If you want something more “comfy” get a size up. Wear them just under your hips. The pair is also Fully lined in front. The pair is “Chlorine resistant – but not as sturdy as our Classics and Racerbacks. Give them a rinse in cold water and let them dry out after each use for a longer life.”

If you are looking for something super fun and different we hope you will check out the 80’s Enough.

We often get asked for underwear and swimwear for the endowed guy. It’s probably one of our most emailed questions to UNB. We created the endowed series so guys can find great gear! One company that is no stranger to making underwear and swim for the big pouch guys is WildmanT. I have reviewed his Big Boy underwear and it’s amazing. Now he has brought the Big Boy pouch to swimwear. They have released it in two styles, a brief and a trunk.

WildmanT is not shy about making underwear/swimwear for endowed guys. They actually have fun with it, normally descriptions talk about the pair, fabric, color and such. This pair I had to run the entire description:

Don’t smash your junk at the beach!  Set your “boys” free and give them the room they deserve with the new Big Boy Pouch Swim Square Cut.  We are known for our big penis underwear and now we make Big penis swimwear.  Our special pouch not only holds a heavy load but it also gives you a natural lift without any additional c-rings or lifters.  This is definitely a “if you have it flaunt it” opportunity.  You may never want to take it off:)

It’s about making great swimwear for guys and not giving any F*cks about it. Well, that’s the attitude I get from WildmanT.

As a guy who has a fuller pouch, it can be difficult to find one that covers all your goods. There is nothing worse than a day on the beach and you have a blow out in the pouch. Or put it on and notice that there isn’t enough material for a day out for sun and fun. If you are in the same boat, there are companies making great swimwear. Plus the bonus with WildmanT is, if you want to show off a little, you will in this pair.

If you are interested in the pairs find out more at the WildmanT site.

IT’s Swimwear Sunday and we picked a GGGGRRRRR-eat pair for you today! Sluggers from Australia make some of the most fun swimwear on the market today. They have a lot of different prints and cuts. We are sure in their many pairs there will be one that fits your body and personality. However, the pair we are focusing on is the new TRI-GRRR DEETEES.

When they first showed this pair, it didn’t have a name. They asked social media followers to help name it. The name was given by Instagram fan kaisydneyconvictsrugby. Great job on the name! It’s the perfect name for this amazing print. I will admit I want one of these for myself to sport by the pool this summer.

The print was developed by collab with the legends at Buttery Studio. Sluggers said that Buttery got it right on the first go. How often does that happen? The print is just awesome. The blue background and tiger character really make this pair pop. I can see why Sluggers stopped when they got the first draft. WOW.

The Deetee is one of the styles Sluggers has in their swim. The Deetees wider at the sides and a tighter fit. Suits all body types. I was going to point that out in here but Slugggers did it for me. You don’t have to be super tiny or a muscle man to wear a swim brief. All types can and should wear the style.

To take care of this pair make sure you rinse it out after every wearing. This lengthens the life of the pair!

If you have a pair of swimwear you want to nominate for us for Swimwear Sunday. Fill out our Swimwear form to nominate a pair or brand we may not know about and you’ll get credit for the pair!
