interview-underwear

I’m starting the mind numbing process of job hunting. I wish UNB was my full time gig! But I must do like most and subsidize my underwear love with a real job! UNB is an amazingly fun distraction from the job hunt process.

If you are a long time reader of the blog you know I had a job interview when the blog started, I put on my tie, dress shirt, pants and looked good then looked down to notice a huge bulge. Now, in many circumstances this would not be an issue and in some instances it would be welcome! However, in a “professional environment” a pronounced bulge is not the image you want. The pair I was wearing was a CX01 in Magenta for a review. I promptly changed the undies to something that was less bulgerific. Which I hated to do because Cocksox really makes me feel great when I wear them.
Underwear should give you an unseen confidence when you wear it. Wearing something super sexy and fun under a suit should be the norm. I don’t think you should ever wear anything you don’t feel great in. Underwear adds the to wardrobe even if no one sees it. One thing I love to do is match my tie and undies. Now I don’t go out of my way to do it but having a few hundred pairs i usually have something that will do the trick.
Flash forward to the present. I am looking for underwear that gives me confidence when you walk in a room but not overly show off everything I have at the first meeting. The pairs that are going in my interview underwear drawer are from N2N Bodywear, Joe Snyder, CK and 2(X)ist
N2N Bodywear Signature Trunk
N2N Signature Line – This is the line that has a great pouch but not overly prominent. It feels great and is one of the few that I enjoy in a trunk. The thing I love about this pair is the fit. The way they designed this fits like a glove and keeps everything in place. I usually reserve this pair for a 2nd interview. Since the first round went great but want something to keep up the energy.
Joe-Snyder-Pride-Frame-02
Joe Snyder Pride Frame – Briefs are my super favorite. The reason I wear this one is the piping around the crotch. It does just what it says and frames your pride. The bright colors from Joe Snyder make this a favorite. No one knows I’m wearing a purple brief or a pink one! When I go on an interview and need to feel a bit more confident this is the go to pair. The fit and feel and knowing I’m in a pink brief takes my mind off the stress
prld.xlg
Calvin Klein Micro Modal Bikini – This pair is all about comfort. The bikinis CK has done over the years have been a staple in my underwear drawer. My favorite pair just got a hole in them and need to be replaced. I will be doing that this week. The fabric feels super soft and they rotate colors but usually can find a black pair. Its got support that isn’t as the Joe Snyder but the modal more than makes up for that. I wear this on an interview I am feeling good about going into, and know I”m more than qualified. (picture from International Jock)
prld-1.xlg2(X)ist Sliq Mesh – This is one of those pairs I”m surprised that I like. I am not a big fan of 100% my lon pairs. Mainly because they have no stretch or give. I like undies that conform to me and my body. The part i love the best is the way this feels against my skin. The first time I put them on I was like OMG these feel amazing. This pair won’t show off a huge bulge but the feeling of the fabric just does something to me. The red pair I have is perfect for interviews. It feels great with out being too distracting and gives a good amount of support. (Picture from International Jock)
You maybe asking why not a jock or thong. To me is about confidence and not being distracted by the undies. As much as undies can give you something extra, wearing something you don’t normally wear can be the opposite. It can make you loose your train of thought and appear like you are not the best fit for the job. So I stick with tried and true pairs.
What do you guys wear on interviews? I know my pairs aren’t everyones and some of you prefer jocks and thongs. Let me know what you wear and why!

UNB has been an American focused blog. That is because the entire staff is based here. But the rest of the world has some amazing underwear that we don’t always see in the States. Two areas we are trying to focus on are UK and Australia. We have teamed up with retailer Dead Good Undies to report once a month on whats hot in the UK market. It will give US readers a look at undies you may not have seen before!

Always a best seller for HOM and Deadgoodundies.com the Fredy String is a legend in the world of men’s underwear. But it won’t be around for much longer as HOM is stopping production. With its low rise fit and cotton rich fabric, it’s not hard to see why men buy a Fredy again and again – and DGU has plenty still so Fredy fans can stock up before they’re all gone… (or there’s always the Doreanse 1280 as a worthy alternative?)

HOM Soft Silk Maxi Boxer Brief – RRP GBP30.00

HOM’s Silk 44 collection was a corker, but they went one better with its successor the Soft Silk range.

Joe-Snyder-Underwear-01

Joe Snyder has been around for over 30 years. They are still going strong and we got to ask them a few questions about the history of the company, best seller and whats in store for the future! We hope you enjoy!

How did Joe Snyder get started in the men’s underwear industry?

In 1958, Mr. Jesús Vargas Abín established in México “De Vargas”, a store where he sold shirts, trousers, suits, ties, underwear, accessories, etc. In 1977 Mr. José Vargas Snyder started working with his father. He continued offering the same products until his father died in 1977.
In those days men underwear covered men’s virility, failing the objective to support men’s virility.
The customers were looking for sensual underwear; Mr. Vargas Snyder noticed people’s needs due his vast experience in men’s clothing. He produced the exclusive Exclhom (Exclusivo para hombre – Exclusive for men) design, a garment made of Polyamide Elastane, which perfectly fitted men’s anatomy. He manufactured and sold the product in his own store. The customers bought the underwear since the first day. Proving he was right.

Joe Snyder is known for their bright colors, how do you choose the colors? Is there a color you would like to do?

The colors are chosen because at Joe Snyder we like to make things differently and in an original way. Starting with the fabric used (80% polyamide – 20% Elastane) and by choosing bright and original colors that cannot be found in other brands. Our idea is to keep a fresh, modern, fun and versatile image.

We’ll certainly be bringing some exciting new colors and have already some in mind but we’d like to keep the mystery! We never want to stop surprising our customers

What has been your most popular style over the years? Also what has been the best selling color? joe_snyder_pride_frame_blue2

The best selling item is the Bikini 01, the first style ever made. The best selling color of that Bikini is in black.

Lace in men’s underwear has been popular; Joe Snyder was one of the first to include it, what made you use lace?

Like previously mentioned, in Joe Snyder we like to do things differently and provide new options to our customers. To be honest with you, Mr Snyder had the idea to release a lace collection since about 15 years ago but thought that the market was not ready for that at that moment..untill recently.

The last release was the Pride Frame. I Love this line, how did the design come about?

As we are always trying to make a difference, many samples and ideas where developed and shared amongst the Joe Snyder’s design team.

Also, we listened to our customers and after combining our ideas and the customer’s opinion; the result was the Pride Frame. The idea behind the name is literal… to put a frame around what a guy is most proud of!

Are there any plans to add more lines or colors soon?

We are constantly in search of new ideas to create original designs and colors. In the 2nd trimester of 2013 we’ll bring a new collection that will be where classic meets sexy and functionality.

2012bestof

2012 is coming to a close and I asked some of the guys on the site what was their favorite pair from last year. Some maybe we reviewed and others are ones that were purchased. But it was a great year for undies!

Alex – My favorite pair of 2012 are the Andrew Christian Almost Naked Air Jock. This super comfy pair of underwear took one of my favorite briefs, the Almost Naked, and made them better by taking off the butt. I don’t know if it just makes me feel sexier or is more comfortable but matting these briefs with a jock is absolutely amazing. Come 2013 more brief/jock combos will be making their way into my undies drawer.

UNBTim – My Favorite pair this last year is the Joe Snyder Pride Frame Bikini. This was my very first pair I have ever had of them and the fit and feel was amazing. I loved the pouch and the way they fit all day! They are truly amazing pair of undies. I have to mention the N2N Bodywear Air Trunk as my other favorite. This is because they are so breathable and lightweight. N2N Did something really amazing with the air line!

theamazingT- Andrew Christian Almost Naked Brief in Turquoise. I consider this my 2012 pair because I didn’t own any of the Almost Naked briefs until I started working for this site last winter. After having the Almost Naked brief in my collection, it very quickly became my go to. Whether I just wanted a comfortable pair of undies to lounge around in, or I wanted a sexy bulgy pair to wear out on the town, the choice ended up coming down to my AC Almost Naked’s every time. I now own multiple pairs from the collection, with different colors and cuts, but these will always be my “first love”..

MrShane-I purchased a Baskit Jock in olive green this last year and I absolutely love it. It is no secret that I am a major jockstrap fan as I have about 25 of them and wear them at least three times a week. Well, the Baskit jockstrap is one of my favorites. It is extremely soft and comfortable. The pouch is adequate in size without being confining while being supportive and the waistband and leg straps are both soft and comfortable. I love the Baskit logo in the contrasting olive green color on the bright white waistband. There is nothing about this jockstrap that I can find at fault. I love it!

UNBThongGuyObviously Chromatic Collection Low Rise Thong -My favorite thong I got to review this year was by Obviously. It’s probably the perfect thong. Soft material, great design, comfortable pouch and strap. I can wear it all day and forget I am wearing it. It’s hands down the best thong in my col

launchbikini01mango1_7

I had a tingle of joy when I heard I’d be getting a Joe Snyder pair for this review cycle. Joe Snyder is one of the brands I’d always wanted but never could find on sale as a very budget restrained college kid. Low and behold it arrived, and I received…THE LAUNCH BIKINI, in white.

As I took the pair out of the packaging, I had a two-part reaction. Part one was the ooh and ahh over the feel of the fabric in my hand. Part two was the moment of confusion upon inspecting the front of the undies. I’ll go into more detail on that in a minute.. The Launch Bikini is an 80% Polyamide and 20% Spandex Lycra blend which gives it the luxurious feel and luster. It is available in White, Black, Red, Turquoise, and Mango (a goldish yellow). There is a tag on the back of the undies that is QUITE noticeable, it’s actually folded over the band so there is taggage on the inside of the back AND the outside of the back, but having worn them for the day, I honestly only felt it a couple times. The price point is on the more expensive side for a pair of underwear, but if you factor in the construction techniques, it is totally understandable (my degree in costume design stands behind this statement).

Now, to explain the confusion over the front of these undies. This bikini features a dual front, the outer front is a nice full contoured pouch to carriage the genitals. The INNER panel is an uncontoured panel with a hole in the center. This pulls your testicals UP and out from your body, and lets your penis drape over them, being presented even FURTHER out. This bikini also doesn’t elasticize the ring, so luckily, you don’t feel like you’re being choked until the elastic is worn in more. The built in ring isn’t a new concept in men’s underwear “technology”, but this is the first time I’ve seen the construction like this. The outer POUCH on this bikini is attached at the front and the top of the pouch, leaving the sides open. It was slightly fussy to put it on and “dress” everything properly, but not too bad.  I have two slightly opposing opinions attached to this engineering.

Having worn it all day, I found it very sensational…in a good way, and a very nice feel for a pouch. I felt supported while still given breathing room to hang, and it definitely added a little SOMETHING to the front of my pants, but without the pants on, it kind of turns into a peek-a-boo pouch. Because the front pouch panel is not connected on the sides, when I’m wearing it, my genitals were pushing out the pouch panel so much that I was getting the male version of “side-boob”. In my opinion, the outer panel would do better to be attached from the bottom and sides, leaving the TOP open, so if there is a peek-a-boo panel, it’s a slightly more alluring sight”

Although I think the front pouch is not great for “show”, I completely recommend this for daily wear, it felt great all day, and it added a little spring to my step.

Joe Snyder Furnished this pair for review

Starting off, Joe Snyder is my favorite brand for thongs, briefs and specialty wear and am a huge nylon lover so anything that has that elastic spandex feel is amazing. I have numerous pairs and varieties of Joe Snyder underwear. One of the things I love about this brand is how most of their underwear gives you the pouch for extra support and pushes you out to give that buldge appearance. Joe Snyder underwear is machine washable and very durable. Even their specialty underwear is great quality. With having a nylon fetish, Joe nyder is the perfect brand to get into and support.

The pair I reviewed most recently was the Joe Snyder Running Shorts. When I saw that they did sportswear, I wanted to try it out. I am a huge gym fanatic and do a lot of cardio at the gym so I thought that these pair of running shorts would be perfect. When I received them I quickly put them on to try them out.

Here is the downfall of the shorts. They fit more like briefs than anything. I still had some support but I did feel “out there” and kind of exposed… but that could be solved by any jock strap. Being a bigger guy and having thicker thighs, the shorts expose and really do not leave a lot to the imagination but it shows everything you got. SO if you are comfortable being exposed, these are for you!  This can be a good and bad thing. I wouldn’t not recommend wearing these in the gym to run in front of your workout buddies, possibly risking something falling out, but to wear them in the privacy in your own home if you have your own treadmill.

I would recommend wearing these on the beach as a bathing suit. If you are not comfortable wearing a thong or a speedo, these could be the next step to still feeling sexy in the sun. Still being able to cover your junk and butt checks but still getting the sun on your thighs and legs.
Would I recommend these “running shorts”? I would. I would recommend them to be worn at the beach as a bathing suit, or as shorts to wear around the house, or even underneath your jeans as your underwear for the day. I would not recommend them to be worn at the gym, but if you were to, I would put on a jock strap underneath to give you that support. Would I call them “Running Shorts”? No. Running shorts would be a little longer than this pair. But I would call them sporty boxers. They have some versatility other than running shorts so that would be a reason to buy them. If you are wanting and willing to try them, I would fully recommend doing it. if all else fails you have a great pair of sporty boxers that you can use at the beach or in your daily life.
Pros

  • Versatility
  • Great to wear at the beach/tan in
  • Lightweight
  • Stretchy fabric
  • Great feel
  • Doesn’t ruin in wash

Cons

  • Not to be worn in the gym
  • Not a lot of support in the pouch area
  • One size fits most
  • Not considered “running shorts”

Joe Snyder supplied these for review. Find these and more at the Joe Snyder site.

I have never had a pair of Joe Snyder underwear. I know that is very hard to believe considering I run an underwear blog. There have been many things I have heard over the years about Joe Snyder.  There are some who swear that Joe Snyder is the best underwear company around. While others have said that the pouch is small, it’s tight and etc.

With all these opinions going through my head, I was a little worried how I would like them. Would the pouch be big enough? Would it fit? More on that in a minute. The newest line from Joe Snyder, it has made a big splash in the world of underwear. Joe Snyder is one to use vibrant colors and classic designs.  The line has a black accent stripe that literally frames your pride. It will draw attention to the pouch.

I wore this pair to work and knew the minute I put it on that it would be an amazing pair. The complaints about the pouch being small are not true with this pair. When I first put them on it was like the pair was made for me. It fit so well that I didn’t’ want to take them off.  It was like I wasn’t wearing any underwear through out the day. It is a line that I will get more of and put them in my drawer. These came at a good time because after loosing weight I’m in the market for new undies to fill my drawer.

If you have been a long time reader of the blog you know that a pouch is the most important thing to me in underwear. I don’t care what else the underwear has going for it, with out a pouch I won’t like it as much. The pouch on the Pride Frame has to be one of my favorites I’ve ever reviewed. Why did I like it so much, it was the combination of the fabric and design that has won me over. I want to get them in all colors now!

The Pride Frame is made out of 90% Polyamide, 20% Spandex mix, which is super stretchy and conforms to your body.  The pair I wore was an XL, in typical American sizing it would be a Large.  Meaning it would easily fit a 36 waist. The important thing on Joe Snyder is read the sizing chart at their site or the retailer to pick the right size.  There is nothing worse then getting the wrong size of underwear!

Pros:

  • Great pouch
  • Classic Bikini style
  • Incredible fabric,

  • I want the entire line

Joe Snyder furnished these for review.  Available in 7 colors from $23.50.

Over the past week, I have had the pleasure of reviewing Joe Snyder’s Launch (LCH) bikini and it was the first time that I have worn any piece of Joe Snyder underwear. While getting the chance to try new and unique undies is always welcomed, there is always a slight fear of the unknown in terms of style, construction, as well as brand. This bikini certainly was different than any other brief that I have worn since it features an elastic ring within the pouch of the brief to provide a substantial front profile enhancement. Pictured above this review are images of myself in the review pair to give you, the reader, an idea of how the pair fit on me so you can further understand my perspective. I will attempt to do this for each underwear review that I do moving forward. Now, onto my review.

When I first opened the package containing the bikini, I had no preconceived notions on what to expect. In fact, when I first looked into the pouch and saw the size of the ring that I would put my junk through, I was honestly pretty confused. After three or four tries to snake my stuff through the hole, I was amazed by the profile increase. It is very drastic. In terms of comfort, the longer I wore the bikini, the more I got used to the feeling of the ring and grew to enjoy it. Along with the ring in the front, there are also two slits on each side of the pouch. At first, these seemed very unnecessary and I wasn’t very fond the of aesthetics of the front of the pair. Once I wore the underwear, I quickly realized that these slits make both positioning your junk through the ring and using the bathroom much easier. Featuring a fully covered rear, this bikini never rode up and the leg opening do not separate from my legs. Even after working out and putting the underwear through the paces of a normal day, the underwear did not change positions at all. Very impressive.

My favorite part of this bikini is the fabric. Using an 80% polymide and 20% spandex fabric blend, this brief is incredibly soft and smooth while having the ability to wick away sweat. I found its feeling to be very similar to the swim briefs which I have worn swimming laps in high school. When compared to the fabrics of all the briefs I currently own, this Joe Snyder bikini wins hands down. The fabric alone can make you forget that you are wearing any underwear at all, even though your goods are stuffed through the inner elastic ring.

Joe Snyder offers this brief in four other colors other than turquoise. Following this test, I intend to try wearing more Joe Snyder products and I suggest you do the same.

Pros-

  • Superior front profile lift
  • Lack of underwear shift throughout the day
  • Amazing fabric blend

Cons-

  • Other than my minor aesthetic gripe regarding the front pouch, none at all.

It’s Thong week here at the UNB Underwear of the week! We were looking for a few good thongs to recommend as the underwear of the week. The staff batted around a few ideas and then I got to talk to Joe Snyder this week and it hit me the Bulge Thong would be perfect for thong week. Thongs are supposed to be fun and sexy. This one is definitely sexy and fun. This maybe a good thong for those who have never tired them to give them a chance. Even our own Brandon said all men should have to wear a thong!

This pair we chose because its sexy and has a great pouch! It shows off what you have in the front and in the back! Also what ever color you want it in, they probably make it. They make over 21 colors and patterns.

Reasons the Bulge Thong is our Underwear of the week:

  • 80% Poliamide 20% Spandex Lycra
  • Provides very minimal coverage
  • Give your package a lift up and out – creating a very noticeable bulge
  • 21 Colors and patterns

You can find this pair at the Joe Snyder website for $24.00

Flip the Gridiron around and you’ll find a sexy mesh trunk with the ass cut out of it. Finally, A thick masculine 2 inch wide waistband with woven three color horizontal racing stripes and centered CellBlock 13 logo completes this ultra-slick jock inspired underwear.
