Croota – UNB Holiday Guide 2016 from UNB Blog on Vimeo.

Croota is an Australian brand that we have worked with many times over the years. They been in one of our previous guides. They make some awesome boxer briefs/trunks. One of their favorites of readers are the seamless pairs such as the Dirty HIpster, Jetliner Denim and Dancing Dahlia. Also, they have super fun prints and colors. Our models in this video are Drew Ater, Wes Holland, and Damien Michael Chase. See the entire guide on our website – http://bit.ly/2hwewQA

The UNB Holiday Guide is out. We had a series of delays this year, so we were unable to release on Black Friday. With all that went wrong, we had a lot of fun shooting the guide. We shot it in the North Georiga Mountains. Which was an amazing location, however, we had wildfires a few miles away. This limited us to shoot indoors. This year’s guide features Clever, N2N Bodywear, Croota, JOR, Rounderwear, Dotwear, Krakatoa, and Cocksox.

In this day and age, it seems new brands are popping up every month.  It can be very easy to just stumble across a brand that you have never heard of.  Even though it already has a large following or has been around for years.  Sort of like how with the sci-fi /Fantasy genre everyone gets into it through a different series. Leaving it an incredibly vast but fragmented category. So some brands fall through the cracks, or become lesser known, yet underrated.

When you think of Australian brands, probably Aussiebum, 2Eros, and Cocksox come to mind. Yet there is another good underwear maker from down under, that I think is awesome, called Croota. Since I discovered them a couple years ago I’ve enjoyed their styling and designs. They even do small touches well. For instance, on the back of my thong, right below the care instructions, is printed the line “For use before marriage”. How tongue-in-cheek is that! I also like their patterns. Such as their take on tartans and a print of the Croota name repeatedly split into individual letters and jumbled up.  Pulling of the combination of looking interesting but not overcrowded.

They also make an interesting thong. It has a very wide back, which may put some thong wearers off , but I haven’t found it to be uncomfortable. It does have a purpose. I have found that the larger back helps to accentuate what you naturally have back there.

One last great thing they have is free shipping, which is always a plus in my book! I hate it when a $15 pair is really $20+ with shipping. Though they are based out of Australia, they have a USA located warehouse so it won’t take long to get to you at all.

Basically, if you haven’t tried Croota, check them out. They’ve got a great style all their own, and make fun, good looking products. In my mind , Croota deserves to be just as popular as their bigger Australian brethren.

Croota

Pouch area stretches nicely for all you lucky gentlemen

Underwear_Men_Croota_OS02F3Croota has been releasing quite a few new ranges this year. I think they are really coming into their own. Its great to see a company develop it style over the years and start releasing great line after line and keep growing. The first time we worked with Croota was back in 2009 or 2010. They were just brand new and getting exposure.

The one thing I love hearing about in the men’s underwear market is inspiration. It’s really cool to hear that they got inspired by the dessert. Designers get inspired from the least likely things at times. When you think underwear would you ever think underwear? I know I wouldn’t. But they did and made some amazing underwear.

Here is the press release and info about the brand.

Croota underwear (www.croota.com) has just released two final underwear ranges for the first half of 2014 before it gets ready to release its brand new line of t-shirts. The “Oasis” and “Great Sandy Desert” ranges bring a new cut to men’s trunks! Light and form-fitting, these ‘second skin’ ranges of underwear are made from 95% polyester and 5% elastane.

“Great Sandy Desert” was inspired by the Australian Outback’s great desert landscape. The range features a unique feel and two very distinctive gradient colors called Day Time (Red) and Night Time (Blue). The material is so light it’s as if you’re naked!

The “Oasis” range was inspired by the cool and refreshing feel of an oasis in the middle of the hot, dry Australian desert. This range combines the Croota logo with tribal designs that come in two color variations: Salmon Pink and Bijou Blue.  (Pic above)

Both ranges of underwear offer a stretchable fit and are available in two size options (S-M and L-XL). They retail for $22.90 – $22.95.

Sprinkles Grey - Front - Full BodyCroota has always been a favorite of the guys here at UNB. Since we first started covering them they have always ranked high in our reviews. So when they release something new we want to bring it to you guys. The latest release is the Sprinkles line. I can hear a few of you going, “Sprinkles?” The name  speaks to the the pattern they have created.

The first thing you will notice in the pictures is the color is monochromatic. We have guys who read the blog who love more “classic” colors and don’t like really bright undies. They want something that wont’ bring strange stares from people at the gym. You could take your pants off at the gym and many may not notice you have on a brand that isn’t a US staple.

You maybe asking where do the sprinkles come in? They are small dots of color mixed in the fabric. You can’t see them in the main pic but they are in all different bright colors. So when the light hits them it will sparkle! So, in second thought you may not want to wear them to the gym!

The style for this range is a low rise trunk. The waistband is a Croota branded waistband and is available in the grey and black. Both darker colors so the Sprinkles will pop!

Here is some info Croota sent us:

Croota underwear (www.croota.com) has just released its ‘Sprinkles’ range of men’s trunks, adding to a 2014 collection of underwear filled with unique styles, designs and fits.

Croota’s ‘Sprinkles’ trunks offer a subtle splattering of colors against one of two monochromatic color options. The range is offered in grey or black, and features a waistband that is a mixture of two distinctive materials (cotton and elastane), which give the Croota logo a reflective surface.

Like its other ranges, Croota’s ‘Sprinkles’ range is a lo-rise glove-fit pair of men’s trunks. It was designed for a guy who likes simple designs and subtle flair. It is made with 95% breathable cotton and 5% elastane, and retails for $22.90 (www.croota.com

Rasta Amsterdam Poster

It has been said that inspiration can be found in the smallest of details. And that is exceptionally true for Croota Underwear’s newest range of men’s underwear, “Rasta Amsterdam,” which was created by Croota’s Creative Director after a visit to Amsterdam and after viewing a creative magazine image of a puff of multi-colored cannabis smoke.

The “Rasta Amsterdam” Lo-Rise range of men’s trunks pulls elements from both the Jamaican-born Rastafari Movement, and the world’s most liberal city by incorporating the colors of the former flag of Ethiopia, which is associated with the Rastafari “Way of Life,” and elements of the flag of Amsterdam.

“After a recent visit to Amsterdam, I was determined to create something that could bring two inspiring cultures to my brand,” said Sang Croota, the brand’s Creative Director. “And I felt that developing a range of underwear based on an international subculture could translate into something guys could celebrate.”

Set against the (95%) black cotton and (5%) spandex blend, the unique green, yellow and red colors symbolic of cannabis culture are also accompanied by three Saint Andrews Crosses found in the heraldic shield of the coat of arms of Amsterdam. The Dutch words “Heldhaftig, Vastberaden and Barmhartig” (Heroic, Determined, Merciful) are also included as design elements on the range. The “Rasta Amsterdam” Lo-rise trunk retails for $21.90 USD.

The United States of Australia have finally taken over the United States of America; in the form of low-rise, comfortable men’s underwear. About two years ago, Aussie underwear company Croota (www.croota.com) entered American shores and quickly gained ground in the highly saturated men’s underwear market. Expanding its headquarters to Irvine, CA has since helped the company experience exponential growth, brand sovereignty and visibility thanks also to its “Save the AS5” campaign, wherein the company has appealed to men who were once set on their old, boring underwear.

The new “Waisted” range offers guys a lighter, comfortable fitting boxer that hugs the body but gives enough room for it to breathe. “Waisted” is made of 95% cotton and 5% elastane, which combination allows for a sexy pair of low-rise boxers to comfortably fit under any pant. The range is offered in two versatile colors, blue indigo featuring a hot pink and silver waistband, and gray which features a maroon and silver waistband. A two-button front allows more give in the pouch and thigh. To add more flavor to this boxer, Croota added an 8×3 patch on the front left side, and additional vertical logo on the right and a silver Croota slogan on the rear directly below the brand label. The ranges retails for $21.90 USD.

“The American market has been highly receptive to our brand and our bold choices in color, fit and styles,” said Sang Croota, founder and creative director of the brand. “We’re excited to be offering our underwear to men across this country, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to ‘Save the AS5’ from boring underwear.”

WE02_SSWaisted - Gray - Front

The name of Croota’s “Waisted” line came about as many manufacturers refused to assist with such a detailed waistband. The combination of satin and colored fabric to provide the intricate design is unprecedented in the underwear industry.

By introducing new ranges every two to three months, Croota offers a varied selection of boxers, trunks and briefs to men of all walks of life. It’s a fun, affordable brand that invites color, cut and fit for the fashion-conscious to the fashion-weary. Prices range from $18 – $22 USD, with special promotions on best sellers of the month. Croota is fully stocked in the U.S., and all American orders are dispatched from California. Free nationwide (1-5 business day) delivery is offered to U.S. customers.

nasty-pig-reverse-fleece  REVERSE FLEECE SHORTS AND TRUNKS

You know those shorts you have, the ones you bought eons ago? They’re your favorite shorts, they’re falling apart yet you are still wearing them. They’re totally worn and oh so comfortable but every time you put them in the wash you pray that they’re still in one piece when you take them out. Well, that’s these shorts except they’re new but as comfortable and they’re by Nasty Pig which means they are built to last, so tell those old shorts goodbye, they’ve been replaced.

Made with an awesome reverse fleece. The rough edges and contrast seaming and stiching of both the shorts and trunks feel totally athletic, and the inside-out cotton fleece is a perfect weight for a hard workout, but why limit them to the gym? They’re hip enough for street wear and comfortable enough for lounge wear.

Both have elastic waistbands with back up draw strings for flexible fit. The long shorts have the added bonus of big long pockets (perfect for playing a bit of pocket pool) and the trunks have one inner pocket for keeping your essentials safe.

Wear them with your favorite Nasty Pig jockstrap or even better, go commando – just know that the light-weight fleece will leave nothing to the imagination. Especially the trunk, it’s been masterfully tailored to show off everything you’ve got.

19 TEE

This football inspired super-soft cotton T is uniquely designed with a double sided cotton which allows Nasty Pig to create a cut out effect exposing the reverse color in both the front centered “19” and the “shoulder details”. In either blue or grey with the reverse color for detailing.

This pre-shrunk shirt is finished with a v-neck collar with a hint of distressing and a NASTY PIG print to wear proudly across the back.

Jockstrap Central has the shorts, trunks and tees in variations of heather grey and blue so you can mix and match any of the shorts and tees for a total Nasty Pig outfit. As if the shorts and tees weren’t reason enough to check out Jockstrap Central, they’re big beefy, hairy and ruggedly handsome model Patrick is modeling the works all in beautiful hi-definition photography.

We hope you enjoy this guide. We have more pics to share through our Brief Distractions over the next week or so. Check out all the pairs and get them for you or your significant other! Let us know what you want or get for the Holidays!

Croota is one of those companies that our guys have loved. They aren’t known too well here in the states, but we think you guys should be aware of them! They have another new line released, which is called Night Runner.

If you aren’t familiar with Croota, they are a company out of Australia. We have reviewed them a few times over the years. The underwear never seems to disappoint. We also featured them in our UNB Swimwear Guide back in May.

Here is some info about the pair:

  • A 5cm elastic band is hard to find on the market, especially with 5 colour applications including white and silver satin, this is expensive and complex manufacturing. The waist band looks awesome under your favourite jeans or gym shorts.
  • An aggressive Croota logo on side creates a sporty look.
  • 3 stitching lines in 3 different colours on the bottom part gives a very unique and stylish design.
  • Retail Price: AUD $19.90
  • Fabric Breakdown: 95% Cotton, 5% Spendex
  • Size Breakdown: S, M, L, XL
Find these at the Croota site, http://www.croota.com

Thanks to Croota, even guys from the United States can parade around in our underwear and be patriotic.  With some red, white, and blue, we can show our pride on Independence Day as we walk around our parties and as we lie down by the pool.  Who wouldn’t be proud to sport these as you celebrate our freedoms…including being able to share what underwear we love!

In the same fashion as the Australian pair we reviewed earlier, there are pockets for storing the important things for your celebratory events.  The pouch does a great job storing important things as well.

Maybe it was the pair I wore, but waist seemed to fit a tad lower than the other.  Not every pair is going to come out of the factory the same.  You can only count on a certain percentage to come out of mass production as twins.  Nevertheless, this pair was just as wonderful as the one preceding it.  I failed to mention in the previous review how much I loved the waistband.  The inner side of the waistband is an unbelievably comfortable cottony spandex feel, making it smooth to the skin.  There is nothing more irritating than having a waistband cutting into your midsection, especially if you plan to have pictures taken of you later in the day.  The red cut marks aren’t appealing.  Models, you have nothing to fear with this World Collection offering.

We have had the great opportunity of reviewing Croota underwear a few times since their creation and it has been no less of a thrill.  They have been busy over there creating underwear for the creative, style conscious, and the playful.  The WW-III selection from their World Collection is our interest for this review and honestly, this one pair proved they are ahead of many in the game.

At first glance, something about these stands out.  That would be the pockets on both legs.  It’s not a large pocket, so don’t think you can get pack happy!  It’s a small pocket that could come in handy to store something to help you out a great deal in the near future.  Who knows what may happen when you wear these Australia square-cuts.  When you pull them on, go ahead and put something important in a pocket for your night out.

The pouch had to be my favorite asset to this pair.  It provides you the much needed room for your assets and allows them to push forward.

I give this collection an A+ for creativity.  The color combination is terrific.  This pair, as pictured above, is called Ultramarine.  It has an white waistband with two stripes of coordinating colors.  As the major accent, the rear features the country letters AUS, accompanied by three stars.

The fit was perfect and hugged the body as it was meant to.  As mentioned, the pouch offered a generous amount of room.  I can’t express in words how well they fit me.  The tag is sown so that it is not irritating to the back.  On the tag, the advice given was “Best Before: Marriage.”  That’s awesome!  I have worn these through busy days at school and around town and I have also worn them for days sitting at work.  In either situation, they proved to be comfortable and never binding.  It’s another hit for the creators at Croota.

You can find this Australia selection at the Croota website located at http://www.croota.com.  You can choose from their numerous countries in the World Collection.  This pair was provided for review.

Though it’s starting to get quite cold outside, there is still plenty of reason to spice it up inside. If you need some help finding spice, look no further than Croota. They are known for making awesome underwear and swimwear at an awesome price.

Surfers Paradise is a great pair of underwear. Not only does the fabric itself have a design but the waistband has one also. For me, it’s the little things that count and this is certainly one of those things. When you combine that with the witty sayings on the waistband, this makes it a great pair of underwear and something worth buying. Since there is so little fabric, there is little room for error and makes this underwear so so comfortable. It survived all day which is pretty hectic these days, so that’s saying a lot.

The Surfers Paradise is comprised of 95% Cotton and 5% Polyurethane. Although there isn’t much fabric on there to start, what little fabric is there is very very very comfortable. It’s a great pair of underwear, and if you’re lacking something creative in your drawer, you need to check the Surfers Paradise out. Besides the blue plaid color, there is also a purple color that deserves a look as well, even though blue is a waaay better color.

Summer 2010 is upon us.  I sure hope you have something exciting to wear to the beach and the pool this year.  If you don’t, there’s no need to worry!  There is still hope coming to you from Croota.

The White Austar sports some pretty awesome designs.  Each section has some sort or writing or logo, giving you a total of four to complete a seriously awesome look. It’s a great looking pair and though white swimwear has a special place in my heart, this pair has an even more special place where it’s well deserved.

Like the other pair of Croota swimwear I have, this pair is made of 85% cotton and 15% Spandex.  It has what I think is something to protect the privates from showing when the suit gets wet.  With that nifty add-on, it’s a really comfortable swimsuit.  You should check out this pair.  With its great price, you will definitely want to add it to your collection.

Croota provided me with this pair of underwear to review.

After a long break from writing about underwear, I have returned to review a couple pairs I’ve had in my possession for some time.  The next few articles from me will be playing catch-up in the world of underwear.

The first of these articles will be for the Rodeo Hipster from Croota, a nice, square-cut design with a forgiving pouch.  In the company catalog of designs, this would be the SP02 in grey and size medium.  This would be considered another great creation from Australia.  Over the past few days, you’ve seen reviews for other designs from Croota.  Seems these were accepted into the underwear world with open arms…or rather, open legs.

I’ve worn these a few times since receiving them.  I love the feel of the material and the pouch design couldn’t be better.  It conforms to your dimensions perfectly and allows them to rest in the comfortable material throughout the day.  The 2 inch (5 cm) waistband, in red, white, and navy, is greatly pleasing to me as I love a wider, supporting waistband on any pair I wear.  The leg openings are made from the same material (95% cotton, 5% Spandex), contrary to other brands tend to use a different material to cover elastic.

Not to bring down the happy mood created by Croota, there is one down side to my experience with this cut.  Through the day, there were a few times when I had to reposition the back of the underwear.  I guess it could be said that they rode up, not in the crotch area, but they did ride higher on the hips after a while of walking around at school and work.  Of course, this is just a small downside as I probably have a different hip shape that other who might wear the hipster cut with no problems.
