Baskit Q&A: Up Close and Personal Series Concludes With Baskit’s Sexiest Model – Motorcycle Enthusiast Kody Courdan

Following the success of Baskit Wear’s “Up Close & Personal” Q&A with modeling contest winners Tim Baird and Billy Dortch, comes Kody Corduan, the very sexy and tough guy with a killer face and body. This guy is more than just looks though – he’s got a thing for motorcycles and is making his own mark in the competitive world of Hollywood.

Here’s what Kody had to tell us when we peaked into his life and his love of Baskit…

BASKIT: What is your age and where you are from?
KODY: I’m 25 years old and I am from just outside Kody, South Carolina. I moved to California about five years ago.

BASKIT: What do you do for a living (aside from modeling)? What did you want to be when you were a kid?
KODY: Besides the occasional model gig, I’m also an actor. I shot two movies last year, still in post-production. “Messina High” which is a modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. The other film is called “Brothers Sinclair” In addition to the movies, I’ve been in shows such as Dexter, 90210 and Eleventh Hour. My first big role was as Joey Travolta in film called “Accidents.”

BASKIT: You have some body art - can you give us a description of it and what it means to you?
KODY: Sure, when I was 18 I got a dragon on a grim reaper’s sickle on my left arm. I also have one on the inside of my right arm – a tattoo my father and I got, and on my left tricep I got a family tattoo with my stepbrother. They all have very personal meaning to me.

BASKIT: What’s the best way to spend a day off? Extra hours at the gym? On the beach? Hiking?
KODY: Riding my motorcycle. I do enjoy hiking and surfing as well, but nothing compares to riding the asphalt at 100 mph.

BASKIT: Were you familiar with Baskit before the modeling opportunity?
KODY: I was not, but now that I am wearing them, I got to say that I love the fit. And the colors are great for me

BASKIT: Is there something thing you aren’t doing that you wish you were? A sport/skill you were never good at or just haven’t gotten around to learning yet?
KODY: Nah, I’m very happy with my life and where I am. I’m grateful to have what I have and be who I am.

BASKIT: What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
KODY: Figure out for yourself what is true, don’t blindly follow the world.

BASKIT: On a random Saturday, what are you likely to be wearing?
KODY: Ha, um.. Jeans and a tee with underwear!

BASKIT: If you had a week on a beach and could only take three things with you what would they be (aside from clothes and money)?
KODY: Books, surfboard and a pillow.

BASKIT: Any other interest tidbits or pieces of information you’d want to share with the readers? Something nobody knows about you?
KODY: I’m a part of the Sons of God motorcycle club. Check it out!

Baskit launches the Have a Ball in Baskit Model Search and Contest

Baskit (www.baskitwear.com) announces the launch of it’s second annual model search competition, this time via social networking site Facebook. The “Have a Ball in Baskit” contest will give one hunky guy the opportunity to star in the brand’s global image advertising campaign. The winner will be selected through a voting process that allows Baskit fans to choose who they want to be the newest face for the brand. Past campaign images from Baskit have reached a global audience and launched the successful careers of many male models.

Now through October 14th, Baskit is accepting images of guys who want to participate. To submit for considerat yourself, visit Baskit’s Blog (http://baskit08.blogspot.com/) for full entry details. Once the October 14th deadline has passed, the team at Baskit will select the top ten images from all entries.

On October 17^that 12pm EST, when the first round of voting will begin, the top images will be posted in a “Have a Ball In Baskit” contest section on Baskit Wear’s Facebook page, and will remain until Friday, October 21^st at 5pm EST, when voting will end. Facebook fans will determined this rounds winner by commenting on and ‘liking’ their favorite photo. The top three participants will automatically win $100.00 to spend at www.baskitwear.com.

The final round of voting, which will begin at 12pm EST on October 24^th will determine who will win a year’s worth of Baskit product and be brought to an exclusive photo-session with a top photographer to star in Baskit’s global campaign. Following an up close and personal interview with connexion.org modeling contest winner Tim Baird, comes the second finalist Billy Dortch, a free-spirited Sacramento native with the looks of a bad boy, but a heart of gold and a voice to match.

Over 200 members of social networking site Connexion submitted pictures for consideration and selected the two winners through a series of eight rounds of voting. Over 30,000 votes were casted in an eight-week period.

Billy: Currently I am a singer/songwriter. (Check out Billy Dortch on iTunes or www.billydortch.com) and for money I manage and bartend at a popular bar in West Hollywood. As a child I wanted to own a farm with my brother and sister…. now the bar at times feels like a barn with farm animals.

Baskit: You have some body art – can you give us a description of it and what it means to you?
Billy: I have ten tattoos. They all are special and have meaning to my life. I have my last name on my arm, a bird with a breast cancer ribbon for my mom (she is a survivor, love ya mom!) I also have the title to my first music single “breathe” on my neck. The music video for the song was actually nominated for video of the year on LOGO in 2009.

Baskit: What’s the best way to spend a day off? Extra hours at the gym? On the beach? Hiking?
Billy I love to hike. I try to go on a different hike each weekend! I also enjoy camping and am currently restoring an old camper trailer and it’s almost ready to take to the road!

Baskit: Were you familiar with Baskit before the model search and what drew you to it?
Billy: Yes, I actually did a shoot a few months before and by chance I was wearing Baskit underwear. I entered a picture from that shoot to the competition.

Baskit: Is there something thing you aren’t doing that you wish you were? A sport/skill you were never good at or just haven’t gotten around to learning yet?
Billy: I actually want to learn trapeze and run away with the circus!

Baskit: What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Billy: Not sure if it’s advice, but I have always had unconditional love form my family.

Baskit: On a random Saturday, what are you likely to be wearing?
Billy: Swim shorts in my blow up kiddy pool ala Homer Simpson.

Baskit: If you had a week on a beach and could only take three things with you what would they be (aside from clothes and money?)
Billy My boyfriend, an iPod with speakers, and a bottle of wine.

Baskit: Any other interest tid-bits or pieces of information you’d want to share with the readers? Something nobody knows about you?
Billy: I love the P90x workout and I’ve never had a gym membership! Plus, as I write this, I am currently on a ship in the middle of a sixty-six day exploration of the Mediterranean Sea!

Over 200 Connexion members submitted pictures for consideration and members of the social networking site selected the two finalists through a series of eight rounds of voting, casting over 30,000 votes in an eight week period.

Hailing from the Nation’s Capital, meet Tim Baird, an all-American guy who proved he is more than just a pretty face and a super fit body. His killer smile and charming personality brought the heat to beach during a photo shoot that found him showcasing new styles from this year’s underwear offerings, dangling from cliffs over crashing waves, and braving the freezing water to show off an irresistible swimsuit.

We took a moment to ask the brand’s newest face some questions for a special look into his life and what he fills his baskit with….

Baskit What’s your age and where you are from, Tim?
Tim I’m 27 and right now I live and work in DC. I grew up in Cohasset, Massachusetts, a small town just south of Boston.

Baskit What do you do for a living (aside from modeling)? What did you want to be when you were a kid?
Tim I work full-time for a healthcare non-profit, but as a little kid I always wanted to be a professional soccer player.

Baskit What’s the best way to spend your day off? Extra hours at the gym? On the beach? Hiking?
Tim If I had a totally free day, which never happens, I’d sleep in, then with a little motivation I’d get to the gym and spend the rest of my afternoon by the pool or beach with some friends, music, food and drinks.

Baskit Were you familiar with Baskit before the model search and what drew you to it?
Tim Totally. I have a few pairs and modeled for a Baskit underwear show in DC. It’s sexy, great fitting underwear so entering the contest just made sense for me.

Baskit Is there something you aren’t doing that you wish you were? A sport/skill you were never good at or just haven’t gotten around to learning yet?
Tim I really want to learn how to surf. I need to get my ass to a beach where I can practice!

Baskit What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Tim Never take anything too seriously, including yourself!

Baskit On a random Saturday, what are you wearing?
Tim Shorts, a tank or v-neck and flip-flops. I’ll probably have some kind of necklace on, aviators if I haven’t lost them and Baskit’s, of course.

Baskit If you had a week on a beach and could only take three things with you what would they be (aside from clothes and money?)
Tim Tough question. Definitely music, a volleyball and a surfboard so I can finally pickup surfing!

Baskit Got any other interest tid-bits or pieces of information you’d want to share? Maybe something nobody knows about you?
Tim I speak Spanish, bummed around South America for a year, and have cut my own hair since I was 17.

Baskit Wear (www.baskitwear.com), a premium player in the men’s underwear, swimwear and activewear segment, announced the launch of a new brand campaign for 2011 that continues the brand’s goal to reach active men everywhere. With new collections added, Baskit now offers a style of underwear for every man, for every activity and day of the week; reinforcing the name as the go-to brand for stylish men everywhere and their motto, “The brand you dig through your drawer to find.”

The new image and video campaign, produced by photographer Toky Castellanos, kicks off with the redesigned PURE organic underwear collection and ENERGY, the label’s moisture-control underwear offering. Baskit designer and CEO Eric Schwers commented, “Our goal with this campaign is to broaden our audience while continuing to appeal to our loyal customer base. Year of the Jock, 2011?

I am back from Magic/Curve and I must admit it’s a great time but it wears you out. I know you are saying “you go talk to underwear makers/designers and see underwear models, what’s so hard about that?” Well, the amount of walking in Las Vegas is mind blowing. I am always worn out after the shows.

One thing I really noticed was jocks. I have seen them around but they seem to be a lot more prevalent this year. Most of the collections I saw had at least one jock if not more. There seems to be a rebirth going on for the jock.

Collections where I saw jocks are:

These are the ones I can come up with off the top of my head. Jocks are no longer the Bike #10 traditional jock. They are made out of mesh, spandex and sometimes lace. Jocks also have lace up pouches (like shoes), more then one strap and cross between briefs and jocks. If you had asked me a few years ago if you could improve on the jock, I would never have guessed all the innovations designers have come up with.

Then you have companies that have built businesses on jockstraps. The two that come to mind are Jockstrap Central and McKillop U/W. Jockstrap Central is your main store for anything jock related. You name it they will probably have it in jocks. Last year they scored the extremely hard to get Bike #10. They wouldn’t tell me how they did it but I know it wasn’t easy! Second, McKillop U/W has done some amazing work in designing new and great fitting jocks. They have color, an amazing pouch and even new materials. They are doing some great work and if you love jocks I say you try them.

This week alone we saw the release of two new jocks. The first was from Bone Wear and the second was from Pipe. It seems each week we see more and more jocks. That is the reason I pushed this post back to Friday. I was going to post it on Wed but the release of two jocks in one week kind of made my point.

We love it here when there are new takes on classics in the world of underwear. It now makes me think of new ways to do the tighty whities! Hey if it can happen to jocks why not tighty whities?

It’s time for the annual Valentine’s Gift Guide. Unlike last years guide, this is done using pictures from companies rather then being shot specifically for us. Time was not cooperating with us to get it done. We feel you will enjoy this as much as the previous ones. We hope you enjoy the selections we chose. We aim to make sure you and your man look incredible on Valentine’s Day!

We are giving you the choice of both classic and sexy pairs. We know there are guys who prefer the classics and want choices to reflect their taste while others want something sexy that shows off or enhances. We think we have both bases covered. We bring you two super sexy pairs from Andrew Christian. We think the Gigolo Brief (left) and Boxer (right) would be great pairs for Valentine’s Day. Baskit is a company that allows you to have classical styles and be sexy at the same time. The new lines have very classic looks but in new colors and designs.

The first pair we think would be awesome is the Ribbed Jock Brief (top). The front looks like a brief while the back is designed like a jock. It’s a mix between the two.
The next pair is the Utility Boxer Brief in pink (bottom left). Pink has been an increasing color trend and is great for the occasion. I love the design and use of white material.
Lastly is the Light Brief (bottom right). It’s perfect for the guy who wants something sexy but not too different. We definitely recommend the red!

We don’t want to forget those in the Southern Hemisphere or those taking a nice romantic trip to a location in the tropics. Boy Rio has recently released new underwear and really great swimwear.

If you are going to a tropical location, you should try the PoolBlu “sunga” style Brazilian swimsuit (right). There’s a bit more coverage than a swim brief since it’s based on the swimsuits of Brazil.

A company we had to include is Cocksox. They have been featured on UNB many times in the past and they will continue to be a part of our underwear family. We feel they have two great pairs for Valentine’s Day. Cocksox is a company that believes underwear should be fun and sexy, driving them to create new styles that show off what you have…and then some!

They are a brand that has been around in Europe for a while, but we here in the states rarely see them except for online. They are very well made and generally smaller cuts than we are used too but they look awesome and fit amazingly.

If you want more of a trunk cut, try the Valentine Hipsters. They have great colors, but for Valentine’s Day, go with the red, as pictured, or pink. (left)

There is a new company on the scene and it’s called Diego Barberi! They are based out of Switzerland and currently only have a trunk style. We are reviewing two pairs and those will be posted soon. Until then, we want you to check out the pair called Ibex. They are a red trunk with a white embroidered design. They are initially beginning with a small line but we hope to see more from them soon. They may be new but they definitely would be great for this occasion. You can bring a Swiss styling to your undies drawer! Erogenos has some really great pairs for Valentine’s. If you are not familiar with them, they are known for having super sexy and fun underwear. It’s not plain and boring at Erogenos. I would say they are one of the “go to” sites for sexy!

What special day wouldn’t be complete without animal print? Well how about an animal print thong! It’s definitely shows that you are ready to be an animal yourself. The Pikante Jaguar G-String is perfect for bringing out the animal in you. (left)
Another really great, sexy brand is Gregg Homme. We’ve said they are bringing sexy back and doing it well. The pair for them is another thong and is the Commando Thong. It’s small, fun, and made of super stretchy material. (center)
Last is a new brand called Narciso. Narciso is out of Buenos Aries that facilitates form fitting designs and bright colors. This is proof in the Narciso Boxer. The black stripes with red highlights make the pair really fun. (right)

Next on our guide is Frank Dandy. Frank Dandy is known for great designs and great colors. The pairs we chose for this is the Five Star Brief and Trunk. We think these would be the perfect addition to your underwear collection. You can wear them really at anytime, but to us, they seem like a fantastic choice for Valentine’s Day. We wanted to pick a wild print but thought these would be a much better choice. You can get these from the Frank Dandy website.

Geovanny is one of the companies I don’t think many people have seen. I really love his take on underwear design. He has taken a classic design and put a new, innovative spin on it. The pair we chose is the red brief with white trim. They are a more full cut but still just as sexy. The front seam accents the pouch in a new way that I haven’t seen from other designers. Again, we don’t want to forget those in the Southern Hemisphere and those planning a romantic trip southward. Marcuse is a swimwear company out of Australia. Over the last few years, Australia has become one of the major players in the underwear/swimwear market. Marcuse is one of the newest and hottest swimwear companies around today. The pair we chose is the Arrest Me swimsuit in red. This is a very brief design of swimwear. This would be great for a romantic beach getaway! It’s not for the shy, so be ready to show it all off. N2N Bodywear is a necessity in a Valentine’s Day guide. They have always care about the sensuality of men. Every new line they release is about showing off a man’s body. This includes underwear, swimwear, and workout wear. The pair that would be great for the holiday is the N2N Freedom Bikini. It’s got a signature waistband and comes in blue and red. Either pair you purchase would be great to wear out to dinner. You can get this pair from the N2N Bodywear website

Are you ready for some RED? If so, then we have you covered with Olaf Benz. Olaf Benz is a brand that originally hit the fashion scene in Germany and has spread across the globe. When I first saw these, I was WOW’ed! They are so fun! I think I literally said “FUN” when I opened the email.

The first picture features the Squrepant and Carreshirt. Both are form fitting and would make a great combination. Be warned that they are super sexy and body conscious! (left)

Review: Baskit Utility Boxer Briefs

When I opened the package of these Baskit Yellow Utility Boxer Briefs, I was visually surprised to see a pair of boxers in this color that I wouldn’t otherwise come close to considering. However, this shade of yellow is actually attractive and it is supported by a dark grey waistband and trimming around the legs. Likewise, this pair offers a pouch which is also represented in solid white and lends itself to an open fly. While I’m not a huge fan of boxer briefs, I found this pair to be extremely comfortable and functional with the open fly which is unusual today with most briefs and trunks.

Their first test run included wearing throughout the workday while on vacation. This included a full day of walking and hiking the coastline beaches in Southern California. During the course of the day, I couldn’t believe the amazingly comfortableness this pair offered with a snug fit around the legs, helping to keep them in place. The waistband, sporting the company’s logo, and the dark grey trimming around the legs is what really grants these boxers a real visual appeal. With a blend of fabrics, which includes 95% cotton and 5% Spandex, this construction makes for a breathable and flexible pair of sexy underwear.

As shown in the picture above, the front pouch is a solid material with the repeated dark grey strip and functional fly. The pouch is constructed with additional fabric to create a pocket and enhance your package while remaining attractive and comfortable. It’s clear that Baskit is an expert when it comes to design, functionally, and the ability to create something new, inventive, and esthetically appealing.

If you’re like me, when it comes to underwear in general, I don’t want to be bothered with a boxer that will not stay in place and continues to ride up the leg. Having a pair that eliminates this worry and provides something attractive for the eyes is what investing in quality underwear is all about.

Welcome to the 2010 UNB Holiday Guide! These guides are a lot of fun to do, but a lot of work! We start in August contacting all the companies involved, and then have it sent to the photographer, having everything shot then put up on the site. The pairs included are some of what we think will be great gifts for the man in your life or some just for you!

This guide was shot by the awesome folks at NorCalBodz. If you are familiar with our guides you have seen their work on our site. They have done our previous guides and we have profiled them in many Brief Distractions. The models we used in this guide are: Jordan Preston, Rob Patrick, Erik Rossi, Corey Christiansen and Matt McCaleb. We want to thank them and NorCalBodz for doing an awesome job for us.

Frank Dandy

Frank Dandy is a brand that was created to combat the world of boring solid colored underwear. They are known for their innovative patterns and designs. This brand is not for the reserved guy. If you want to express yourself in your undies as well, then you need to be checking out Frank Dandy!

Mundo Unico

Mundo Unico is a line that mixes both classic styling with sexy design. The brand has focused on making some of the best designed underwear on the market today. It its a man very well and gives great support through the day. Then they add in colors, prints and patterns to let a man be comfortable yet stylish in at the same time. It’s a brand where form meets function!

Pipe Underwear

Pipe Underwear hit the underwear scene a few years ago. They make a splash with their innovative photography and designs. But, they didn’t sit back and relax. They have come out with a new line that from the first look is very conservative, but has some great styling. They are using blacks and whites but they aren’t the boring undies of the 90′s. The use of piping and silvers turns the lines into something fun. Pipe Underwear is definitely a brand you should be following!

WildmanT

WildmanT was one of the first to produce enhancing underwear. Two years ago they created the Ball Lifter (R) technology and since then they have come out with a range of underwear to really show off what you have. As their website says “All our products create the fullest package possible while maintaining style and comfort.” If you haven’t been to their site you should go. The owner and creator WildmanT aka Tim, is the model as well!

Timoteo

Timoteo is a brand that is really taking off. Known for their incredible photography and great fitting undies, they have taken the underwear world by storm the last two years. It’s very interesting how the line started. Timoteo was head designer at the Baby Phat line created by Russell and Kimora Simmons. He left there and in 2001 created his own store in West Hollywood. He concentrated on men’s clothing but in 2006 he introduced swimwear and the rest is history! The TIMOTEO line recognizes great fashion but also understands that style, fit, and comfort are the key to its success.

McKillop U/W

McKillop U/W is one of the new kids on the block. They were furnished last year and their main focus is jocks. We have many readers who love jocks and wear them exclusively. The head designer and owner Ryan wanted to create a line of “Jockstraps and Pouches for the men who demand comfort and style without padding and branding being the main focus of the underwear.” McKillop uses colors and mesh to really give a new look to the traditional jock! If you are a fan of jocks you need to give McKillop a once over!

Cocksox

Cocksox is the self-proclaimed sexiest underwear on the planet! It is an enhancing brand that uses a specially designed pouch to show off exactly what you have. Cocksox is out of Australia and has grown to be one of the biggest brands there. They have expanded and are making in roads into the US Market. The underwear is made out of supplex and is thicker then pure cotton undies. The underwear will conform to your body and is ergonomically designed. It will be comfortable through out the day and move with you.

N Haven

N Haven is a line from UnderGear. Undergear has several private lines that are being redesigned from the ground up. I got to meet with them back in August and I’m really excited to see what they do. We are featuring the Fall Boxers here. They are all a fall/winter theme that is perfect for lounging around on a winter night. We are featuring two pairs here but you can see more at the UnderGear site.

Are you ready to get WILD? Pikante‘s new line that came out is all about animal print. I know what you are thinking but these aren’t the 70′s tacky animal prints, they are fun and sexy. They range from the traditional (Tiger, leopard and more) to newer and innovative prints (Owl Feather, snake and blue tiger). It’s a really fun and sexy line. Glad to see someone doing animal prints right!

Candyman is just pure fun. They have the costume underwear featuring cowboy, prisoner, devil and more! But, you may not know they have a line of underwear. The line is one that is not for the shy. They are bold, colorful and shiny! If you want to show off what you have then the pairs with cut outs, thongs and metallic materials will be perfect for you.

PPU is another of those fun brands. Yes, they have some traditional briefs and boxer briefs. Then, they have some really interesting approaches to taking a classic like a jock and turning it into their own. They don’t follow the regular rules of underwear. They see something and put their twist on it. That includes jocks, bikinis and thongs. Its great to see a company that is doing their own thing.

Do you want something masculine but fun? Then Clever is the underwear for you. Their slogan is “Masculine Underwear.” They want to make underwear for men not afraid to show their masculinity. They take masculine feelings and turn them into prints, patterns and designs. They are fun without being over the top. Men who are confident and driven are the kind of guy that Clever is after!

Dead Good Undies is the only online store to send us underwear. They are out of the UK and offer some of the most innovative and cutting edge underwear around. They sent us three really fun brands; Bum Chums, Doreanse and Manstore. Bum Chums are a “cheeky” brand out of the UK. They are bright fun and have a lot of metallic! While Doreanse you have seen in The Reasons video we posted this past week. Lastly is Manstore, which is a brand that just is all about sexy. They have smaller cuts, mesh and leather like materials. Pistol Pete is one if the first companies to do 3-D underwear! They are a brand that’s not afraid to think outside the box when designing underwear. That includes this season collection. Some of the current lines are inspired by cities and places. They aren’t just underwear they also have a very large swimwear and shirt line. The underwear from Pistol Pete you can definitely tie into your over all style. They aren’t plain and simple. They are made to compliment and add to your wardrobe.

DMK Designs

DMK Designs is a brand we have covered since the start of the blog. It was founded by Diane who is a former Vegas show girl who went back to school to get her MBA and started a men’s underwear line. Diane wanted to create a line because she was tired of men seeing bad underwear. She has come out with some really fun lines. Those included the animal print made out of unexpected colors. Which were some of the most innovative I have seen. She is now working in mesh and has created a pouch that doesn’t have a seam down the middle. I know we will see some really fun and creative designs from her soon!

Gregg Homme

Our last brand is one that is bringing sexy back to the world of men’s underwear. That line is Gregg Homme. They are one of the most innovative with mesh. The current lines are one that really shows off everything. From their site: “Design is a dialogue of ideas: it appeals, speaks or creates controversy and GREGG HOMME constantly innovates with unimaginable designs and functionalities to feed the insatiable taste of men for provocation and seduction.” This includes using the latest in technology. The example of this is the Bandito line. The shirts and underwear have cutouts with mesh. The fabrics are fused together rather then sown. They are a brand positioned between lust and fantasy.
