aussieBum Ultra Swim Brief

Have you seen the latest swim brief from aussieBum? They have introduced what they call the ultimate swimwear for performance in and out of the water. Their new line is called ULTRA. It’s available in five colors. It’s made out of an Italian Lycra composition that is a blend of 80% nylon and 20% elastane. aussieBum refers to the fabric as super stretch, quick drying, chlorine resistant, and a colorfast fabric.

What gives this swim brief some character is the contrasting rear splice. Here’s the colors you get to choose from. First up is Osiri, which is red and has a white splice. Zeus is black and also has a white splice. Then there is Atlas, which is blue with a lime splice. The color Apollo is black with a red splice. The last option is Adonis, which is gray with an orange splice. They do not give sheerness ratings on these briefs, so don’t know if the white splices will reveal some rear when wet or not. Of course, that is always a possibility with light colors.

The Ultra swim brief features a dual paneled front pouch for added comfort. The aussieBum name is on the left hip on the splice color in black print. The brief is to be machine washed cold and not tumbled dried. Like with any suit you should cold rinse after use and line dry. They say out of the sun.

I’m drawn to aussieBum suits that have other colors integrated into them. It’s nice to have some non-solid colors for a swim suit choice without them being too flashy. For me a little accent goes long ways. That is what I like about the Ultra swim brief. Do you like a little extra color in your swimwear or do you stick with solid colors?

Thongs 101: Where to go from here

You’ve finally bought your first thong or maybe you have a few now. It’s underwear you decided is a good addition to your wardrobe. So what is your next move?

First off, keep wearing them. I’ve talked to guys who keep wrestling with wearing them, because of social norms. Ignore people that talk negatively about them and say they aren’t for guys. Don’t let stereotypes get in your way. Be confident with your choice and don’t allow other people’s views deter you from wearing them. Remember it is just underwear and very few people are going to be seeing you in them.

Experiment with different styles. There are lots of variations out there. We covered what we felt were the main ones in our Thongs 101: What Are The Styles Of Thongs. Brands are always trying to come up with something a bit different from the competitions. Things like double or multi strap waistbands, cut outs in different places, various pouches, different types of waistbands, etc. There is surprisingly quite a variety out there for us guys.

Go ahead and test out other fabric options. Once you’ve been wearing thongs for a while, some fabrics you think may not be comfortable or weren’t comfortable become comfortable. Try some of the more erotic fabrics such as mesh, lace, leather, etc.

Really the main thing to do is just enjoy wearing your thongs and have fun experimenting. Don’t hide them from your significant other or future one. They’re not something to be ashamed of. They’re a great option for us guys and we deserve to feel sexy as much as the ladies. Keep rockin’ the thongs!

We’re thinking about doing a Thongs 201 series. Would that interest you? What things would you like us to discuss. Let us know in the comments or use the contact us page to get in touch.

Thongs 101: Where to Buy?We’ve covered styles, tips for buying, and fabrics to look for with a thong. Now that you have some guidence of what to look for in a thong, it’s time to go shopping. Where to shop you ask? Most of us only have one option for this which is the Internet. Guess there is still some mail ordering available, but by now they have their own websites too. If you are lucky you could have a men’s underwear store within driving distance.

If you are close enough to a men’s underwear store then that would be the ideal place to shop for a thong. Being able to physically see the thong will help you with the decision. You can feel how soft the fabric is, compare thongs to each other, see the width and thickness of the tail. Another bonus is you’ll have a salesperson that knows underwear if you have any questions.

With online shopping it is going to be more researching. You’ll read product description, fabric content, and product reviews on retailers’ websites. Then you also should look for third party reviews to gather more information. Look for what they say about fit, comfort, fabric softness. See if they barely notice they’re wearing a thong when wearing the pair. Use all the information you can gather to help make the decision. You can always reach out to us at UNB if you have any general questions or one about a particular thong. We’ll do our best to guide you in the right direction.

To get the most exposure to a variety of thongs it’s best to look at retailer websites over just a brand’s website. Once you find a brand of interest you can always go check out the brand’s website. Here’s some online retailers you can check out that have a variety of brands of thongs.

From the UK, there is Deadgoodundies.com. They carry about a dozen brands who have thongs.

Mensunderwearstore.com is a US retailer. They carry about a dozen brands with thongs.

Another US retailer is International Jock. They have a selection of 20 brands that have thongs.

DUGG is an Australian based retailer who carries 10 brands of thongs.

Here’s a more extensive list of underwear online retailers.

Check out the map we have of places to buy in person.

Thongs 101: Beginner Thong Ideas

I’ve tried many thongs over the years and the fabric and tail width are two factors that I think contribute most to making a thong comfortable. Tails around an inch wide and fabrics like bamboo, modal or micro modal fabrics, and knit silk are some great options for thongs (Read last week’s post Thongs 101: Fabrics). I feel that tails that are thinner like a string can dig into you more than a more traditional cut back. Then too wide of ones you get too much fabric between the cheeks, which can make them uncomfortable. Here’s some options we think could make decent beginner thongs.

Underweardude

The 2-xist Y-back thong is a great beginner thong because in a way it doesn’t really look like a guy’s thong, instead like a weird jockstrap. If you like that look and want an upgrade, the Sliq line version comes in some cool colors. I believe it to be entirely microfiber instead of cotton based.

If you want something a little less “gym” and a lot more “sexy”, the Classic Cotton Thong from N2N is a good starter pair as well. Though if you don’t like the idea of a contoured pouch you should look elsewhere.

The Bottom Drawer

Unfortunately my top pick the JM Natura thong is of a brand closing it’s doors. So now neither of the thongs I’m going to suggest aren’t typically the style I go for, but the fabric makes it a good choice for a first thong. The Male Power Bamboo Micro Thong is made out of 95% bamboo and 5% lycra with a tail width of 1 1/4″. Bamboo fabric is a new discovery for me. It’s very soft and comfortable between the cheeks and everywhere else. Problem with this one is I can only find it through a third party sellers on Amazon or Walmart.

The next one I’m recommending isn’t one I’ve tried, but several people have highly recommended it. Even someone starting their journey with thongs recently tried it. They found it to be comfortable enough for all day wear. It is the Obviously’s AnatoMAX Thong. This thong is made of a blend of Micro Modal and Lycra. The fabric along with others I’ve talked to is why I decided this sounds like it would be a good thong for beginners.

Let’s us know your experience with your first thong and what one you tried. If you are already a thong wearer help us out and let us know what you think is a good first pair for a newbie.

aussieBum Surge Swim Brief

aussieBum has added two more swimwear collections to their list. Both are in a brief cut. One briefer than the other. Both good options to beat the summer heat.

Surge
First is Surge, which is along the lines of their of their ionic classic 1.5 and 2.5 nylon swim briefs. They’re made of the same 100% nylon. The surge line is a two tone color. The pouch is one color, which is also the color of the bottom half of the back. Then the sides and top half of the back is another color. This line comes in five colors. Some of these may show a bit more when wet than others. First up is Breaker with a red pouch and then white. Swell that has a black pouch and then purple. Marine most likely will have a sheer factor with a white pouch a then a teal or maybe aqua second color. Drift will keep the goods covered with a black pouch, but with white as the other color it could show some of the rear. Then your last option is Plunge, which has a navy pouch and then orange. The suit can be machine washed cold, but need to be hung to dry.

Some things you may see with this one are spider webs, flowers, dice, snake, waves. Then the last option is Vivid, which is a bit tropical. It has flowers and palms. The colors in this brief are pink, white, gray, and black. All three pairs feature a black waistband. These are limited addition prints made of fine Italian lycra. Only 250 suits made in each style. These are made out of a blend of 80% nylon and 20% elastane. They can be machined wash cold, but need hung to dry.

Which pair is speaking to you? The Surge line is calling me. A little extra color, but still simple. Plus I like the lightness of their nylon fabric suits. Allows for more breathing on those hot days. Looks like I’m not the only one drawn to them. Lots of them out of stock already.

Thongs 101: Fabrics

When it comes to thongs, the fabric can make or break them especially if you are at the beginning stages of wearing them. Really the fabric can make or break any pair of underwear. I would argue more so for thongs with fabric in a place you aren’t used to. You want to make sure the tail of the thong is made of a fabric that will be comfortable. It’s going to be sitting between the cheeks all day.

What should you look for in the fabric? I’d say how soft it is and a lighter weight fabric. If the fabric is lighter in weight then there will be less fabric between the cheeks. Soft fabric is always something good to have all the way around. Who doesn’t want something soft against the skin? Ideally, you’d want to be able to touch the fabric to figure out which you think would be comfortable in the back. Unfortunately, it isn’t common to find a thong at the store unless you are lucky enough to live near a men’s underwear store. You’ll most likely be ordering online, so it won’t be realistic feeling the fabric of the thong. Now how do you decided on what fabric to look for in a thong that you can not touch? First, you could go by underwear you already own. You already know which pairs are soft and lightweight in your underwear drawer. Look at what they are made of and look for a thong made of it. Another option is read reviews and look for ones that talk about the comfort of the fabric.

Some of the fabrics I think would be good options to try are bamboo, knit silk, and modal or micro modal. The modal and bamboo fabrics are usually blended with another fabric like lycra for some elasticity. For me, thongs made out of these fabrics can go as unnoticeable between the cheeks. Some lace and mesh fabrics can be scratchy, so you’ll want to avoid those for now. If one fabric doesn’t work for you then try some others. Once you find a fabric that is comfortable for long term wear, you can start experimenting with other fabrics.

Today we’re going to go over different thong terminology and styles. I’m sure everyone knows this, but let’s define a thong. Webster dictionary defines thong as “an article of swimwear or underwear consisting of a narrow strip of material that passes between the thighs and connects with a waistband.” The part of the thong that passes between the thighs and cheeks is called the tail or you can call it a backstrap. Also some call it the string. You may also hear the term whale tail, which refers to a thong back sticking out above your pants. There are several different styles of thongs and the back styling is what normally differentiates them. To make things more confusing some names are used to represent the same thong style. Add on to that people use the same name to represent two different styles.

Let’s see if we can make some sense of it all. Below we have a graphical representation of the break down of thongs that we’ll be going over.

Thong Styles

As you can see we have thongs broken down into 7 possible subgroups. We see these as the main ones, but there are different variations out there. Brands are always trying to come up with something new or mixing styles together. The t-back subgroup is broken down further into 4 more groupings. You probably could argue that Cheekies and Tangas aren’t thongs, but we decided to include them. They could involve some fabric between the cheeks. Let’s get into the different thong styles.

T-Back Thongs

T-Back ThongsT-Back thongs are thongs that when you look at the back they look like a T. We have T-back thongs broken down into 4 subcategories: Traditional, V-string, G-String, and Rio.

Traditional Thong

Traditional ThongThis is the thong that most likely would come to mind when someone says thong. The tail width is usually around an inch wide. Typically the sides are of similar width giving a uniform T appearance when looking at the back.

V-String Thong

V-String ThongNormally a V-string has a triangular piece of fabric at top back that sits at the top of the butt. Then the sides are strings. The pouch and triangle fabric in back are connected with a string the same width as the sides.

G-String Thong

G-String ThongA thong with a string waistband. Then the pouch is connected to the waistband with the same sized string. Considered the skimpiest thong type.

Rio Thong

Rio ThongWhen you hear Rio with any underwear cut, think less fabric. A Rio thong has a thinner tail and sides than a traditional thong. Also the pouch is more of a u-shape and provides enough coverage to just contain the package.

Y-Back Thong

Y-Back ThongThis one is also called a Y-String. The tail of this thong branches out to connect to the waistband creating a Y. It creates a triangle at the top of the butt with no fabric in the triangle. Some times g-strings are called this too, since you can get the Y look when pulling the sides high on the hips.

V-Back Thong

V-Back ThongWith a V-back thong, the waistband doesn’t connect to itself. Each side is connected to the base of the pouch. Then the sides are usually sewn together where they attach to the pouch a little to create at least part of the tail. Then you get a v effect. These have also been referred to as Y-backs and V-strings too.

Jock Thong

As the naJock Thongme implies it’s a jockstrap and a thong joined together. You have the traditional thong strap between the cheeks and then the two straps of the jock.

Cheekie

CheekieThis is a thong wannabe, The backs are typically look like a wide v-shape. You get fuller coverage at the top and at the bottom the back slips between the cheeks showing them off. Sometimes described as a third back.

C-String

C-String ThongThis is a thong that has no sides. It has a flexible frame that allows you to slide it on between the legs. Kind of holds on to you like a paper clip does paper. If you lay the c-string on it’s side it looks like the letter C.

Tanga

Tanga ThongThis term seems to be not well defined or at least used loosely in the underwear realm, especially in women’s. Typically people define it as somewhere between the coverage of a thong and a bikini. Now the Oxford Dictionary defines tanga as “A pair of briefs consisting of small panels connected by strings at the sides”. A lot of British underwear brands/retailers call their string bikinis tangas. Their coverages range from a little less than a bikini back to around a half back. But by that definition, anything with string sides with front and back fabric could be considered a tanga, so we’re included it as a possible thong style.

Do you consider a Cheekie a thong? Is a Tanga a thong style in your book? Did we miss a thong style? Comment below and let us know. Feel free to also comment and expand upon the post.

aussieBum Hybrid-XIf you like blocks of colors then you’ll want to take a look at the new Hybrid-X line from aussieBum. These briefs and hipsters combine deluxe sports styling with classic fabric composition. The color panels are of a sports cotton-elastane blend (59% polyester, 31% cotton, and 10% elastane). The contrasting back is a ribbed cotton-blend. Both fabrics are chosen for ultimate support and comfort. Ribbed cotton is said to tend to move with the body along with it allowing you to perspire during your activities.

You have three color choices in the two styles. There is Inferno, which has a red pouch, white side, and a black rear. The you have Outback. It features Australian colors with green rear and gold side panels. The pouch is white on this pair. Your last option is Oasis. This one comes also with a white pouch. Then it has light blue side panels and a navy rear. All of the colors in the two style have a white waistband with the aussieBum name on it. They also all have white piping around the leg openings.

Both the brief and hipster styles are available in sizes small to extra large. They can be machine washed, but gentle cycle with cold water. It is recommended not to tumble dry, dry clean, or iron them. So you need to find a place to air dry them. As with most aussieBum items they are made in Australia.

The Hybrid-X line was designed with the active individual in mind. aussieBum went for comfort while also making sure you would be provided with support. Both great things to have when exercising, playing a sport, or really even for everyday wear. Head on over to aussieBum and take a look. If these are quite you take a look at their other offerings.

Thongs 101 IntroductionPretty much everyone knows that thongs are available for women. They’re known for their sex appeal and elimination of those visible panty lines (VPL). You could argue that the thong is probably even more beneficial to men. You get the sex appeal factor and no underwear lines if that is a concern along with good support for the package.

If you think about it, there are several examples of articles of clothing that men have worn for years and still do that resemble thongs. First one that comes to mind is the loincloth. Most definitions of loincloth say it is a piece of cloth that hangs down from the waist and covers the loins. You can find places that talk about pulling the fabric piece between the legs and tucking it into the back of the belt/waistband. Another one that I’ve come across is called fundoshi, which is referred to as Japanese underwear. This is a strip of fabric that is wound around the hips and then between the legs. Then it is twisted around the fabric belt in the back. Similar to the fundoshi is the mawashi that sumo wrestlers wear. There are other similar types of garments out there and all refer back to the loincloth. You have probably seen tribal people wearing loincloths on different shows especially National Geographical type ones.

As you can see men have been wearing a garment similar to a thong for centuries. Doesn’t it make sense in this modern day and time for men to move on to a modern version of these with the thong. Don’t let society dictate that men don’t wear thongs. History shows they do. We at Underwear News Briefs want to help you venture out and try a thong. We’re starting the Thongs 101 Series to help guide you into the world of men’s thongs.

If you’ve ever been interested in wearing a thong, or don’t know where to start, the Thongs 101 series is for you. First thing we’ll cover is the styles of thongs you have to choose from. We’ll look at tips for buying your first thong and ideas on fabric selections. Point you to places you can buy that first thong. Then we’ll check out some thongs we think would be a good choice. Finally we’ll take a look at where to head next with thongs.

HUNK2 Chaos Thong ReviewHunk2 has provided us with their Chaos thong to review.

Rating: 8.6/10

Daily Fit: 8/10
Sizing: 10/10
Construction: 10/10
Styling: 7/10
Daily Performance: 8/10

Pros: Comfortable fabric, like how the back looks on
Cons: Only three colors, would prefer different side design
Recommendation: I say give the Hunk2 Chaos thong a try. For me they are a great fit and a good choice for everyday low activity wear.

Hunk2 is a new brand in 2016 and I have the privilege to review their thong. If you looked at their other offerings, it is a bit of a surprised to see a thong in their collection. At the moment they carry boxer briefs/trunks and jock briefs. They also carry some swim briefs and square cuts. You can read more about Hunk2 in their UNB interview. Before I get into the review of the thong I wanted to say checkout how Hunk2 has marketed their thong on their site. I like how they’ve done it. Hopefully it will be a good seller for them.

I’m always up for testing out new thongs and even better when it is a new brand. I didn’t know what was coming for me to review, so when I pulled the thong out of the package I noticed two things. First was the lightweight and softness of the fabric. The second thing was when I held it up was the two side straps. Personally I would prefer just one of them or fabric between them. Now with that said you are able to adjust how the side straps are on the hips. You can choose to have them run parallel to each other as in the photos or you can go my direction. I like to wear them with the sides next to each other, which leaves some little sliver of triangles near the pouch and the back with skin showing.

HUNK2 Chaos BackI wore these during a normal day for me working at the computer and running some errands. Overall they performed well for everyday wear. I consider these a v-string, since the tail (strap that runs between the cheeks) is the same width as one of the side straps. Plus you have somewhat of a piece of triangle fabric at the back. Sometimes with this type of design the tail can be bothersome. This especially true if you’re not use to this type of underwear. I did not have this problem with this thong. At times they were actually unnoticeable. Others times they did remind me there was a thong underneath my clothes. It was a comfortable knowing. I like this type of back design and I like how these look on me. The front has a flat centered seamed full width contoured pouch. I wouldn’t mind a little narrow of a pouch, but traditional is good too. It offers everyday wear support, but you’d start bouncing around in them with light jogging. Comfort is one of Hunk2 goals and I think they hit that with this pair for me.

Here’s some specification type information on this pair. I got it in a size medium and seems true to size. The fabric is a blend of 82% nylon, 6% polyester, and 12% elastane. The side straps and tail are about ½”. These can be wash cold on gentle and should be hung to dry. They’re made in Colombia, but designed in the USA. The Chaos thong is available in three colors: Noir2 (black), Bleu2 (blue), and Roux2 (red). All three colors have gray/silver pin dots on them giving a classic look to the thongs like one would think of with a pinstripe suit. They feature a small metal brand plate on the left pouch panel with Hunk2 on it. Then the size tag is sewn to the inside and outside back. The tag shows the brand name on the outside back of the thong with the tag line “Striking Confidence” below the Hunk2 name.

Overall this is a solid thong by Hunk2 that fits me well. It’s a comfortable pair I could wear everyday as long as it’s not going to be a real active day. The back cut is my favorite part about it. Gives a nice look for the rear. Fabric is great too. Would rather have different sides, but moving the straps side by side gives a look that I can run with it. More supportive and a bit narrower of a pouch are some personal improvements I’d like. I say give the Chaos thong a try. It is nice to have a little style variety to choose from in the underwear drawer.

Swimwear Season ApproachingStill a bit on the chilly side here. But as I’m sitting here writing this, the sun is shining with clear blue sky. It’s a reminder that summer is getting closer and swimwear season will be upon us soon. What will you be sporting this summer? Do you wear different swimsuits for different situations?

I’m always anxious for the return of summer and the opportunity to strive for increasing my swim brief wearing. Though I am one that chooses the swimsuit based on the situation. I would prefer to be that full time swim brief wearer, but I don’t have the cojones to do so in every situation. I’m always fighting my reserved personality when it comes to going against the norm. There are two situations that will probably always be swim trunks for me. They are when extended family will be around and public pools. To me it would be too awkward wearing one around the extended family. With public pools, it is the confining space. I like to be able to get away from the crowds if need be. Maybe as my swim brief confidence improves I’ll overcome these at some point in the future.

My swim brief haven will continue to be my yard. Always nice to be able to soak up some sun and relax in a skimpy swim brief there. This year the goal is to make the local beaches a swim brief only place when it is me or me, my wife, and kids. That was suppose to be last year accomplishment, but we did not make it to the beach. This year I’ll have to make sure the opportunity present itself.

Don’t forget about the UNB swim brief challenge. You can be like me and struggle with wearing them, be a full time wearer, or taking the plunge for the first time. Do your best breaking one out and let us know how it turns out by emailing us or through social media. If you are looking to go skimpier, we’ve included swim thongs in the challenge too.

JOR Sunny Swim Thong 0427Last year we introduced you to two swim thongs from JOR. They were the Ipanema swim thong (0354) and the Sport swim thong (0355). This year JOR is introducing the sister to their Sunny swim bikini brief they released last year. The Sunny Swim Thong is the newest swim thong in their line up. It’s great to see JOR introducing more swim thongs to their line. We’ve been seeing brands start dipping their toes into the men’s swim thong market.

JOR’s Sunny swim thong is available in 6 color options. You have the choice from three solid colors and three prints. Your solid options are black, fuchsia, and white. Your first print option they call it gray, which also contains white, red, and black. The pattern sort of resembles horizontal fish scales, but not uniform sizes. The next pattern is called pink. The pattern reminds me of Native American ones. The main color of this one is actually white, with the pattern on it in pink, orange, light blue, purple, and black. Your last pattern choice is called yellow. This one’s base color is yellow and has a bunch of interlocking white rings outlined in black.

JOR calls the fabric microfiber and is quick drying and resilient. The fabric is a blend of 84% nylon and 16% spandex. The swim thong is made in Colombia with USA and Colombian fabrics. They are available in sizes small to extra large. The JOR logo and name is on a small tag located on the left hip of the thong.

Don’t forget about the UNB Swim Brief Challenge, which includes thong swimsuits. Maybe this thong would be a good option for the challenge. Why not take the JOR Sunny swim thong with you on your next beach or pool trip and get some sun on your buns.

Take a look at aussieBum’s Seamless.Tech 2.4 brief and boxer brief (hipster). These should be a good choice for those rigorous activities. “aussieBum uses advanced seam-free technology to create a garment of unsurpassed comfort, with no waistband for a truly lightweight fit. With four way stretch and support just where you need it, this could be the most comfortable pair of performance undies you ever own.”

With seamfree there is no seams to dig into your skin or rubbing points while doing your activity. The underwear is a blend of 87% nylon, 10% elastane, and 3% polyester. Both the brief and boxer brief are available in three color options. The waistband is represented with a top accent stripe and two lower stripes. Then between the stripes is the aussieBum name. You can choose from navy or black that has gray stripes and aussieBum name on it. Then there is the white pair that has red stripes and aussieBum name.

Both the brief and boxer brief are available in size small to extra large. They noted the following about the sizing. “Some minor size variances may occur between garments due to the knitting technique used to create a seamless product. This does not constitute a manufacturing defect.” These are to be gentle machine washed cold and hung to dry. These briefs and boxer briefs are not made in Australia like most of ausieBum’s products. They were designed and developed in Australia, but made in China.

aussieBum Sunkiss Swim BriefSummer is on its way here. It’s time to take a look at those swim briefs to see if it is time to replace some. Today we’re checking out some new colors of the Sunkiss swim briefs from aussieBum. They’ve added three more colors to this style bringing the total to 6 color options. Each swim brief features three colors in sort of a diagonal three color block pattern. Reminds me a swoosh pattern when I looked at them.

The color options for the Sunkiss swim brief are said to be inspired by the vibrant palettes of European Olympic. The new colors are Athens, Olympus, and Paros. I’ll be listing the colors in order from the bottom up. Athens is in the colors of red, white, and black. Blues are the theme of Olympus with navy, blue, and sky blue. Paros has royal blue, white, and pink for its colors. Then their existing colors are Hydra, Mykonos, and Santorini. Like orange, red, and white then take a look at Hydra. For blue, white, and lime check out Mykonos. Finally, for red, blue, and orange, you have Santorini as your color option.

I find these all to be pretty attractive options. I’m not typically a pink fan, but the Paros does have a draw to it. These swim briefs are handcrafted from sports performance Italian lycra. It’s a blend of 80% nylon and 20% elastane. They are made in Australia and are available in size small to extra large. This swim brief has the aussieBum name on the left hip in black.

Sunkiss would be a great swim brief for any location with it being a full brief. Though you might want to test the transparency of the ones with white first. Get yourself prepared for beach season and grab yourself an auusieBum Sunkiss swim brief.

Daniel Alexander Trip To Explore Slip Bikini DAI015Are you a string bikini or tanga lover? Then take a look at this two toned pouch bikini from Daniel Alexander. These bikinis are not full backs. They’re more around a half back. My experience with a majority of half backs I’ve tried is they do not stay in place. They’ll work their way into a wedgie. I wanted you to be aware of that in case you have not tried a half back yet.

The Trip To Explore Slip Bikini features a two toned pouch. The rear of the bikini is one solid color. The color of the waistband and piping matches the rear color. The bikini is available in 3 color choices. Your first option is Turquoise/Navy, which are the two colors of the pouch. The back, waistband, and piping are all turquoise. Next up is Red/White. Again those are the pouch colors with the back, waistband, and piping done in red. Your final option is Grey/Royal Blue. The back, waistband, and piping of these are all grey. These are some nice basic color combos to give your underwear a little variety and get you away from a plain solid color.

The bikini fabric is a blend of 85% nylon and 15% spandex. This blend is similar to a swimwear fabric. My experience with the brand is the fabric is thinner than what most swimwear is made out of, which is how it should be for underwear. It’s available in size small to extra large. The right panel of the pouch has the Daniel Alexander logo on it. This bikini is what I consider a true tanga. It has the string sides and less than a full back, which is a tanga to me. Show off that tushie a little with this half back Trip To Explore Slip Bikini from Daniel Alexander.

aussieBum Kaos Boxer BriefsBrighten up a dreary day with the bright bold colors of the Kaos boxer briefs. These aren’t your ordinary boxer briefs. They have two features. The first is the pouch has an enhanced shaping cup for boosted aesthetics. Then the other is these boxer briefs have no rear and leave your cheeks exposed. Here’s what aussieBum says about them.

“Breakout gets a bold new restyling with the launch of Kaos. Patchwork colours and bold, revealing openings make this underwear range exciting to wear and tantalising to behold. Featuring enhanced shaping cup for boosted aesthetics.”

These boxer briefs have the thick elastic waistband with AUSSIEBUM name on it. The body of the boxer is two toned in the front. Most of the time with two toned it splits the colors left to right. With the Kaos, it is more top to bottom split for the color. The top color on the front wraps around to be the back color. Then the bottom color is used for the piping around the leg openings and the opening in the rear.

The Kaos is available in these colors options: Blitz, Clash, Raid, and Strike. Blitz has the purple top portion. The bottom and piping are a lime green. Clash’s bottom and piping are orange and the rest is pink or more of a magenta. Raid is blue top front and back. The bottom portion and piping is teal. The top and back of strike are black while the bottom front and piping are red. All great color combinations.

These boxer briefs are made of a blend of 90% cotton and 10% elastane. They are to be machine washed gentle in cold water and hung to dry. They are available in size small to extra large. Add some adventure to your boxer brief line up and add a pair of aussieBum Kaos.

Daniel Alexander Fascinating Journey Slip Bikini (DAI011)The Fascinating Journey Slip Bikini from Daniel Alexander is a pretty conservative bikini. It is pretty much full coverage front and back. The uniqueness of this bikini is the look of the sides. They constructed the bikini so it looks like the sides are held together with a stitched X. Makes me think there should be a button there appearing to hold it together. The button might be even a better look. Making the button useable probably would even draw more people to purchase it. What do you guys think about that idea?

As with most of Daniel Alexander’s underwear, this bikini’s fabric is made out of a blend of 85% nylon and 15% spandex. They offer it in sizes small to extra large and in three colors. All three colors have the Daniel Alexander logo on the left front hip in white and feature color accented piping. Your first color option is royal blue with red piping. The stitching for the X on the side is also red along with the center seam of the pouch. Turquoise is another option, which has white piping and X stitching along with white center seam of the pouch. Last up is the color grey. It has blue piping and X stitching. Which color would you choice? I’m thinking the royal blue with the red accenting is the way I would go with this one.

Daniel Alexander’s newest additions to their line has been all about adding in some color accents to their styles. If you just want to add a little extra color to your underwear then maybe these would be a good choice. If you would like even more color mixed in, then take a look at some of their other styles. Go see what Daniel Alexander has to offer and add something new to your underwear mix.

Daniel Alexander Naval Warfare Slip Bikini DAI012A lot of underwear for guys out there are just solid colors. Personally I’m drawn to pairs of underwear that aren’t just one solid color. Just little accent colors to a pair can draw my attention in. That is what I like about some of the newer pairs from Daniel Alexander. They’ve added some color combination and subtle accenting to some of their styles.

Their Naval Warfare Slip Bikini (DAI012) adds some real subtle accents that helps break up the solid color. This bikini features two diagonal stripes on each hip. Then the center seam of the pouch is accented with a different color than the main fabric color. It’s nice and simple, but gives the pair a little character.

The Naval Warfare Slip Bikini is available in 3 color options. First you have the white that features the stripes in navy blue and gray. The pouch center seam on this pair in a navy blue. Then you have royal blue option, which is accented with red and navy blue stripe on the hips. They decide to use red for the pouch center seam on the royal blue pair. Your final option is navy, which has silver and blue stripes on the hips. The center seam on the navy appears to be silver. I wouldn’t mind adding all three color options to my underwear drawer.

All three colors have the Daniel Alexander logo on the left pouch panel in white. These bikinis are made out of a fabric blend of 85% nylon and 15% spandex. They’re available in the sizes small to extra large. If your drawer is full of underwear in just solid colors, maybe it is time to start looking at pairs that add in some color. This bikini from Daniel Alexander could be a great place to start.

Swim Briefs: The Bad RepGroundhog Phil says 6 more weeks of winter, but swim brief season is on my mind. We know swim briefs truly do not have a good reputation. This is especially so in the United States. Most representation of them are used to make people laugh. The photos that are passed around include one liner jokes. Movies use them to get a laugh, which I’ve noticed in a lot of kids movies lately. Videos posted online are of someone losing a bet, doing a dare, or think they are just being funny. These instances are definitely not helping the swim brief reputation.

Did swim briefs really just get a bad rep because of one hump? Women are praised for showing as much as they can including their humps. Is the male reproductive organ that shameful that it can’t be accentuated by lycra? Or is it that the guys are bashful in displaying their hump? I think it is a bit of both. Society seems to dictate that it is okay for women to show their whole body, but for guys to cover up the lower half. With that social hurdle, most guys aren’t going to push that envelope. Peer pressure wins out.

Unfortunately, I’m a victim to this. Soon I hope to rip open the envelope and just wear that swim brief like I want to do. Those of us that want to wear a swim brief need to lead by example. The more guys that wear them and do it respectfully. The better chance swim briefs will move from having a bad rep to having a good one. It really wasn’t that long ago when swim briefs weren’t a rarity at the beach. Let’s work on making a comeback for the swim brief. Break out the swim brief this year and let’s start the revolution.

Bodysuits Have You Tried OneWho out there has tried bodysuits? I’m talking about the ones that look similar to a leotard and not full body. They fit in with bikini and thongs with their association of being feminine. They might get that rap even more so.

I have tried out a few about 10 years ago. The ones I tried had the tank top style cut top and I saw them as underwear and undershirt in one. I had a thong cut and two bikini/brief cuts. The only issue I had with the ones I tried is using the restroom. Two of the three would require you to remove your shirt to get your arms out of the bodysuit to pull it down to go potty. If you had to pee then you could slip yourself out the side. The other one had snaps in the crotch that was a better design for restroom use, but then you had to get them snapped again. If in a public bathroom at a urinal, people might wonder what you were doing.

For me they ended up being mainly sleepwear, since they would be a pain for restroom use away from the house. I did use one as base layer for cross-country skiing. I could also see them for short term wear like working out.

This post came about because UNBTim pointed out that he’s seeing more brands offering them like Bodyaware and Pistol Pete. That got me looking to see what is being offered out there in bodysuits for guys now. My one pair was from Bodyaware and was the one I liked best. They have added five bodysuit versions to their line recently. That brings their total to 9 different bodysuits. Two of the new ones have no opening between the legs, two have snap closures, and the one has full front zipper. What I like about some of the ones I’m seeing now is that they are making them look like shirts. Pistol Pete has ones that look like hoodies. Though most bodysuits look like they are tight fitting shirts. Even came across a site that you could get polo looking ones. Another brand that I see offering some bodysuits is Rufskin, which says theirs are ideal for high endurance exercise. They definitely do look that way.

In the end, the bodysuit never caught on with me. I do find the ones that are looking like shirts interesting, but I like my outwear shirt to be a looser fit. If they didn’t cost so much, maybe I would give them another try. At this point I do not want to pay that much for something I might not wear. What are your experiences with bodysuits that look like leotards?

2017 is almost here. Are you making a resolution this year? Maybe one of the typical ones like lose weight, eat healthier, or exercise more. All great things that a lot of us including me would benefit from. How about one related to underwear or swimwear?

You could go as simple as trying out a new brand or style of underwear or swimwear. Maybe go a little more challenging and strike up a conversation on the topic with someone you haven’t. Possibly a real challenging one like wearing a swim brief in public for the first time. You could always do multiple resolutions at varying difficulties for the new year.

My resolutions over the years have always been related to one of my long term goals. That is for me to become a full time swim brief wearer and get the I don’t care what people think mind set. I’ve split up the goal because I’m a reserved person, so I’m trying to ease into it in hopes of a better chance to accomplish it. I have at least broken ground on the goal by already having made my first public swim brief appearance. That was on my honeymoon. Then a few times since on other vacations.

Now the next step to reach the main goal is making my first public appearance at a local beach. I find this to be a challenging one for me. Along with most likely being the only swim brief wear, there is some anxiety that I could run into someone I know. I know neither should stop me and I just need to not care and do what I want. So with the encouragement I get from readers of my blog and others, I believe I’m starting to get the mindset I need to just do it.

Hopefully all it takes is one time locally and the swim brief will become my regular beach swim attire therefore after at any beach I visit. My 2017 resolution is the break out one of my swim briefs at one of the beaches near my home this coming summer. Anyone else going to join in and make an underwear or swimwear resolution?

JOR Sunny Swim Briefs (0353)The name of this swim brief collection tells you what you need to do in it. That is to go catch some rays in the JOR Sunny Swim Brief. It’s available in 3 solid colors and 2 patterns. The first pattern brief is called pink, which reminds me of a Native American pattern. The base color of this pattern swim brief is white with pink, purple, orange, light blue, and black creating the Native American design. The other pattern option is called yellow. It’s on a yellow background with several white rings outlined in black interlocking with each other. It’s best to see the visual of these patterns. The solid colors are fuchsia, green, and white. My favorite in the collection is the pattern one called pink. It is a bit fun over just a solid color without being too bold.

I’d put this in the bikini swim brief category with its lean cut and narrow sides. It’s also a low rise cut brief. All those aspects making it an excellent swim brief for great tanning exposure. The bikini does have a full back, so a little limiting on the rear sunning. It’s made out of microfiber fabric that is quick drying and resilient. Both of those pluses for swimwear. The microfabric content is a blend of 84% nylon and 16% polyester. The brief is handmade in Colombia, South America with USA and Colombian fabrics.

These are available in sizes small to extra large. These have a tag on the left hip that has the JOR name and star on it. It’s always nice to find some swim bikinis that have some subtle patterns in the collection. That is something which always draws me to a collection. What do you think about the Sunny collection? Let us know which one is your favorite and why.
