0001-12_08_28_0009-1024x1024I will start this off by saying that I never thought I would be doing a review for a boxer! If memory serves me correct I have only ever bought one pair in my life. Those were a solid white pair made out of Egyptian cotton, which got one wearing. Flash forward many years and on Twitter, we posted about another brand being sold in Selfridges in England and Hamilton & Hare sent us a message they are being sold there and are high quality boxers. That lead to them sending us a pair for review. Since I knew very few on the site would wear boxers, I decided to bite the bullet and do the review.

I hear many of out there turning out right now. But I hope you read this review. Hamilton & Hare is is some of the highest quality 0006-SQUARE-BLUE-PACK-LGEunderwear I have ever owned. The materials and construction have been top notch. The pair arrived in a mesh bag, that is reusable, and a linen handkerchief. So right away they really impressed me. How many pairs of underwear do this type of packaging. The design is not your father’s boxers. These are fitted and aren’t baggy. Granted they don’t have a pouch which I like but they don’t let your business hang totally free. It’s a tighter boxer then I am used too. I put these on before bed and were going to use them more as lounge wear for a Sunday, but after wearing them, I decided to wear them for the day around the house. They really did fit well and at times i forgot I was wearing boxers!

These boxers really impressed me through out the day. They are more like shorts rather then boxers. The ones guys wear here in the states are baggy, bunch and let’s face it just plain ugly. I sear if I see one more sponge bob or cartoon boxers I”ll scream. As I said above these are for a serious boxer lover. The design is something that I really liked. it has elastic around the sides and two buttons at the top of the fly. It felt really good to wear. No this won’t receive the best rating but for a boxer, I was seriously impressed. I will wear these again. I could def see these under a suit.

I know many out there who read this blog would never consider boxers. I believe sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone and try something new. Whether that be a thong, boxer, bikini or trunk. We should all try other pairs. You maybe surprised what you find. These didn’t bunch like the other pair I had. They stayed in place and I was worried about the fly. Would two buttons be enough to hold everything in and it was. They really paid attention to the design and construction of these.

I would recommend these if you’re a boxer fan of any sort. If you have ever wanted to try boxers and step out side your comfort then spring for the quality and you won’t be disappointed.

Pros

  • High Quality Materials
  • Great construction
  • Comes in mesh bag with handkerchief

Cons

  • Price – is pricy but you have to pay for quality
  • Didn’t have a pouch

9674(1)

I always enjoy getting to review a brand that is new to me and the 9674 Boxer is my first pair from Candyman. Overall, Candyman makes quirky and unique underwear that runs the gambit from colorful designs to costume underwear. The 9674 falls into the colorful category. The bright red boxers feature a black contrast zig-zag stitching and white horizontal lines on the leg panels (The 9674 is also available in a white/black combination).

I wore the 9674 for a vigorous day of errands around town, then out to dinner and overall they were a very comfortable pair. They did have a very small amount of ride-up but because of the short trunk-like cut, it was very minimal and not even noticeable until I was changing at home that evening. Additionally, the 93% Polyester/ 7% Spandex mix made for a very snug yet pleasing fit.

As always, I am happy when a pair of boxers has a nice pouch and the 9674 hit the mark with one that is roomy and offers just enough support. One interesting feature that is not readily noticeable from the pictures, is that the horizontal lines on the leg panels are actually pockets. There is something about this that is somewhat amazing to me as they are constructed in such a way that adds absolutely not extra bulk to the boxer and does not detract from the comfort or clean lines. The only question I have is why? While I could not conceive a reason to do such a thing (as reaching into your pants to take a call my be somewhat awkward in most social situations), the pocket fits an iPhone 5 nicely.

At the end of the day, this is a very solid and comfortable pair of boxers, nothing groundbreaking but I’ll be keeping them on the top of my pile.

Pros:

  • Comfortable
  • Sturdy snug construction
  • Pockets!

Cons:

  • Pockets?

If you are a fan of jocks, then you know jocks should be fun! They aren’t just for wearing to the gym or to play sports in any more. You can now wear them under jeans, khakis or even suits! Fashion jocks came onto the scene about 3 years ago and since that time everyone has come out with jocks in all colors and materials!

The pair we choose this week is the Gregg Homme Charged Jock! Gregg Homme is known for making super sexy and fun underwear. This jock lives up to their standards. bamboo-collection

It’s time to pamper yourself with Male Power’s ultra soft bamboo gear that’s not only luxurious, but sexy and revealing. Jockstrap Central has both a lounge pant and jockstrap – wear them on their own or get them as a matching set. Here’s the details:

If you haven’t worn anything made with bamboo, you’re in for a welcome surprise when this amazing fabric is caressing your boys. It’s as soft as silk, clinging to your every curve and bulge – without the shininess associated with silk and unlike silk, bamboo breathes like cotton.

BAMBOO LOUNGE PANT

Lounging is all about comfort and Male Power’s Bamboo Lounge Pant is the epitome of lounge with a whole lot of sexy thrown in. This totally nonrestrictive pant is perfect for chilling out on the couch or sipping your morning coffee on the patio sporting your morning wood. Wear them commando or combine them with the matching or contrasting jock.

BAMBOO SPORT JOCK

Although Male Power calls this a “sport” jock, this jockstrap is all about luxury and comfort and not about giving you the support you need during a workout or at the gym – what it is, however, is one of the most comfortable jockstraps you’ll ever wear. The pouch is full and should accommodate anything you have to put into it. The 1 2/8th inch waistband is soft using only the best plushed elastic and the 1/2 inch leg straps are equally soft.

As mentioned above, you can wear them each on their own, or combine them for a stylish outfit. We’ve got both the jock and pant in black and a gorgeous teal. Be sure to check out their model Adam Stray being sexy, teasing and playful in the new Bamboo gear over at Jockstrap Central.”

Yes, I am the thong guy. But sometimes I like to wear a sexy brief. I was excited to do this review, because I always wanted to try Cocksox. I have always loved the images Cocksox produces for their underwear. Let’s be honest- Australian men are hot. They seem to all have amazing beach ready bodies. So mix the sexy male Australian body with a sexy underwear brand and what do you get? A must have for every guy that likes to wear sexy, well designed and great quality underwear.

Made from 94% Cotton 6% Lycra this brief is very brief. If this is a brief I wanna move to Australia. I would consider this a bikini. There are so many great aspects to it. The brief doesn’t have an over designed waistband. Its just a piece of elastic surged to the fabric. I think the big fad of branding a logo on the waistband has really gotten out of hand. Plus these large waistbands tend to fold up during the day needing to be readjusted. The simplicity of this design is one of my favorite aspects. Many of my friends make fun of me because almost all my clothes are striped. I don’t know why but I just love stripes. Striped fabric is a great way to tell if the designer and manufacturer can match the grain of the fabric. If the stripes line up at the seams then you can bet that its a better quality. I loved the red and black striped Cocksox. Both of my favorite things, stripes and underwear, together make me a happy camper! And you know what my favorite thing about this “brief” is? NO ANNOYING SCRATCHY TAG! Well, that is not entirely true because there is one sewn flat to the front. It doesn’t touch the skin so I don’t count it as a tag. It’s just a brand label. Thankfully, the Australian brand  just put an iron on tag in the back interior. I can not stand tags and hate hate hate them. So— thank you Cocksox.

The underwear itself is made from three pieces of fabric. Two pieces make up the front. The center seam is nicely put together and flat. The back is just one piece of fabric and is really well sewn together. They spent just as much time finishing the inside. Sometimes manufacturers skimp on the details and when you go to put a pair on you accidentally rip some of the finishes. I did my regular test and wore them to the gym. I got lots of stares since there was a large protruding bulge in my shorts. Everyone likes attention. And I loved it and also didn’t experience any of the crotch discomfort, squishing, or pain I felt wearing other similar brands.  I knew with my big butt and the underwear’s little rear that they were going to ride up. To my total surprise it wasn’t the wedgy where after a few deep lunges it became a thong. Yes, the rode up a bit but then they stayed in place and really hugged my cheeks. It probably has to do with the great finishes to the legs and waist. So the front is Cocksox and the back was Buttsox. It is a great pair of Sox.

Every guy needs to buy this pair. Let me know when you do if you like them as much as I do.

Pros

  • fun pattern
  • Soft fabric
  • Fantastic design
  • Quality manufacturing

Cons

  • I could have used a couple more inches of butt coverage but some people like cheeks hanging out.

So, this review is a two-fer because I will be reviewing both the Boxer and Brief of the Andrew Christian RetroPop line with Show-It Tech. Did you catch the last three words of that sentence? Show-It Tech? I don’t have a need for underwear with any “enhancing” features and therefore I normally don’t buy any type of underwear with them. However, as the name suggests, the RetroPop Boxer and Brief have a great retro 70-80s design and I couldn’t resist having a couple pairs. Both the brief and the boxer are made of 100% cotton and are available in limited edition Black/Turquoise, Yellow/Turquoise and Turquoise/Black color combinations.

I have worn both the brief and boxer a lot since I received them. Both for “active” days and just chillin’ on the couch days. I’ve also put them through, what I consider to be the ultimate comfort test on a six hour drive to Ohio for the holidays and I have to admit, they certainly passed the test and are extremely comfortable.

As for the previously mentioned Show-It Tech, it is definitely on the low-end of tech but does a good job on the “Show-It”. Essentially, the underwear features a contour pouch and a rib of fabric that runs under your testicles to slightly lift and cradle your package. This design also provides a nice amount of support not normally present in a traditional boxer or brief. One small caveat with Show-It Tech however is that you should definitely pay attention to the style of pants you are wearing and to what type of event, because with the right pair of pants, it does a great job of “showing it” to the public.

There are a couple of drawbacks that I experienced but luckily they did not detract from the overall positives of these underwear. First, despite being listed has machine-washable online, the tag reads hand-wash. I’ll admit however, I don’t care how much I like a pair of underwear, I will never hand-wash them. Underwear should be easy and attractive so like all my pairs of underwear, I threw them in on the gentle cycle and line dried them. Being 100% cotton, these pairs have come through like a champ.

Also, the sizing seems a little off to me. I purchased an XL which is listed as a 34-36. The waistband was a comfortable fit, however there was definitely extra fabric in the body and seat of the underwear and while this was was not uncomfortable, it was definitely not as form-fitting as on the models. Finally, the construction seems sturdy enough, but I will admit it is slightly wanting however they definitely should not discourage you from buying it.

Overall, I would certainly recommend the RetroPop Boxers and Briefs to anyone – just maybe buy a size down.

Pros:

  • Awesome retro look
  • Show-It Tech
  • Very Comfortable

Cons:

  • Wonky sizing
  • Hand-wash “only”

CF1-12-C

This is a review of the N2N Bodyewar campfire brief in moss green. My first impression was of the color—a muddy green—which was not my favorite but it was reminiscent of military colors and seemed to go with the rainy weather. The brief is made of 100% cotton with ribbed thermal knitting that allows it to expand for a good fit and would most likely keep you warm on a cold day. The stitching is tight and the brief seemed to be well made. When I put it on, the fit was somewhat looser than expected, perhaps due to the ribbing.  As to be expected with N2N, the cut enhances your package but without typical N2N exposure, which can be somewhat more explicit than I would normally be comfortable wearing. Importantly, there was sufficient material for the butt, which I find to be rare among many modern briefs.  Also, the cut seemed to emphasize and outline the buttocks, about which I never complain. Strangely enough, there is a small half-sized fake fly that seemed to serve no useful purpose.

I wore the campfire brief all day at work and then for a weight lifting workout prior to washing it. Even though this brief initially seemed to be fuller than I usually wear (bikinis are my favorite), the cut of this low rise brief looked surprisingly good. It does look smaller than a low-rise brief in front and back.  I would call this an extremely low, low-rise brief, so whoever wears it should be comfortable with a low low cut in the front. Unfortunately, the side view has more fabric than one would expect, and it makes the brief look somewhat awkward–like it was trying to be a bikini but just could not make it.

Even with the weight lifting workout, the campfire brief did not ride up with wear and the cotton fabric breathed well. Both my package and buttock felt comfortably supported without feeling restrictive or tight. Whenever I went outside, the thermal fabric kept me feeling toasty warm.  I am not the biggest fan of the silhouette, and the moss color was not my favorite but it is also available in navy, white (“natural”) and grey. All in all, it is extremely comfortable brief and perhaps perfect for a cold rainy winter day.

Pros:

    • Enhancing cut in front and back
    • Sufficient space in front and back for those well-endowed
    • Ribbed, thermal knitting
    • Comfortable all day in work and play
    • Good for cold weather

Cons:

    • Lateral silhouette not as attractive
    • Moss color not appealing
