I’m on a role with our N2N underwear reviews, which leaves me hungry for more!   There’s not much room for improvement on any of the styles I’ve worn lately and this holds true for this style as well.  If you compare the scoring across the N2N brands I’ve reviewed recently, you’ll discover that this manufacturer is consistent with both quality construction and styling.  Likewise, if you compare the overall scores with those of their counterparts, the N2N brand is very competitive and, in many cases, wins out on cost per pair.

What I like most about this pair is its bright red color.  These are great for this time of year.  They offer the traditional summer colors along with a baby rib fabric consisting of 90% cotton and 10% spandex, completing the overall esthetic of these sporty briefs.  The 1 1/2“ N2N branded waistband gives this pair an additional colorful punch and appropriate width for a traditional brief cut.

I wore these recently to the gym and they held up great during my workout.  They provided the appropriate level of support and had the ability to keep me dry.  This style is also available in light blue with the same waistband.  If briefs aren’t your preference, N2N offers these in a trunk that you might want to look into.  If you’re a brief kind of guy, however, who’s looking for adding color and functionality to your undie wardrobe, you might want to seriously consider this style.

This is my first ever pair of N2N.  I have to say that I’m impressed.  I hate to go back to the pouch reference, but unfortunately, it is an issue.  It’s not a huge issue as with some other brands, but it does get a bit annoying.  That being said, the design and feel of the N2N is great otherwise!

From what I’ve seen and read online, N2N is a very popular brand. I can see and can feel why.  Not to rant on the pouches, but it’s still a little obtrusive.  Not everyone wants a pouch.  If anything, they should focus more on frontal support and not frontal enhancement.  Besides the pouch, the pair looks great.  The red and black is just a perfect color combo.

These held up through the daily grind with no problem except for the pouch and a bit of gathering in the rear.  Other than that, they were comfortable and they do look really good.  I personally love brands that use piping perfectly, and N2N is one of those brands.  If you are in the market for a new pair of underwear that is extremely comfortable with minimal problems, then give the Black Waistband Brief a try.

Nir Zilberman, the man who helped launch the fun-derwear craze in Los Angeles with his popular upscale men’s retail clothing chain, announced this week he aims to catapult the phenomenon globally with his first e-tail store, LAJOCK.com.  Zilberman’s retail stores ─ formerly called JUST ONE L.A. and recently re-named LA JOCK ─ were among the first in the country to exclusively feature men’s designer under and swimwear. Adding to the newly formed LA JOCK brand, Zilberman also unveiled his first signature swimwear collection this summer,  the LA JOCK  line.

“Los Angeles is where fashion starts,” said Nir Zilberman at this morning’s announcement in West Hollywood.  “Men from all over the world want to look like the well built, sun-kissed tanned L.A. man.  That’s why LAJOCK.com is more than fashion.  We’re promoting the L.A. lifestyle.”

In the glitzy, glamorous, golden coast city of Los Angeles, style isn’t just about function.  Image is paramount.  L.A. men believe you have one shot to make an impression.  The old adage of “if it fits, wear it” does not apply to them.  From Venice Beach to Palm Springs, wearing the latest clothes and accessories shows the world you mean business.

Los Angeles men are willing to pay for the right look.  In fact, where much of the country spends approximately $30 on swim trunks, Los Angeles men average over $90 on theirs.

For many, the right fit is the way to show off their hard earned physique.

“The LA lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle,” continues Zilberman.  “Men are incredibly fit and are always active, whether at the gym, on the soccer field, or on the volleyball court.

“Great clothes complete the package.”

Nir Zilberman scours the world to find the best brands for his customers.  LAJOCK.com showcases his underwear, surf wear, swimwear, accessories, and active wear finds from the USA, Australia, Spain, England, Canada, Israel, Italy, France, Holland, Sweden, Colombia, and Mexico.  Even the tagline for his signature swim collection – “born in Israel, designed in LA, and made in Barcelona” – emphasizes his global reach.  Zilberman says the two essentials each brand he adds to LAJOCK.com must have are quality and the potential to be worn on the streets of Los Angeles.

“We are not only following trends seen on Santa Monica Blvd,” adds Zilberman.  “We’re creating them.”

Case in point: the current popularity of ES Swimwear.  It’s impossible to miss that a great deal of men basking on the Los Angeles beaches this summer are sporting ES.  Nir Zilberman and LA JOCK are the exclusive US retailers of the brand.  Since its Los Angeles debut, the brand has spread like wild fire through the states.  It’s currently the fastest selling brand on New York’s Fire Island.

Another collection Zilberman is excited about is Addicted.  He premiered the line on LAJock.com earlier this month.  “I have high hopes for it,” he says.  “It’s a bit on the wild side but still classy and chic.  I think our customers will love them.”

He says the secret to his success is observing and listening to the men that walk into his shops.  From them, he’s learned:
Los Angeles men do not like prints and flowers.  “They tell me flowers are Miami and Hawaii,” reports Zilberman. “Los Angeles guys prefer solids with stripes.  Simple, athletic and tailored is what most men are asking for.”

The hot colors this season are charcoal and all shades of blue.  “Navy is especially big”.

The brand that was all the rage in Los Angeles last summer, Ed Hardy, is now out.

“At LA Jock, we are constantly updating our men’s underwear, swim, surf and active wear collections to keep up with current trends,” adds Zilberman. “Our job is to always make sure our customers head out the door looking fabulous.”

Ok, are you ready for some more swim deals?Well as you know Baskit does $12 Tuesday’s and this week they have the Lucky Nines Bikini! That’s right we said swimwear for $12! If you need another suit now is the time to get one. Head over and get it early so you can get your fav color! Remember the deal ends at Midnight! Remember go under the specials section!

This is about my fourth pair of N2N underwear that I’ve tested for UNB.  There’s a common denominator that can be summed up in one word with this US manufacturer (so as they like to say, Grown in Los Angeles).  That word is “construction.”  I’m now the proud owner of several briefs from N2N and while I’m not the traditional brief kind of guy, their briefs are certainly not traditional.

I haven’t been disappointed about anything this manufacturer has to offer.  This particular pair is made with a mix fabric of 90% cotton and 10% spandex to give it an extra level of support while still lightweight and breathable.  Oh, I should mention the fact that these look amazing while worn with the extra enhanced contoured pouch.

The 1 1/2 “ N2N branded waistband gives this pair an additional sporty look.  Likewise, the contrasting red colored detail work around the legs and trim traveling vertically up either side of the pouch provides for a sexy appearance.  After wearing these on three separate occasions, they appear to be holding up and retaining their vibrant color.  This style is also available in black with the same red trim work.  If you’re a brief kind of guy who’s looking for some enhancement and enjoy showcasing the family jewels, this is the perfect pair.

In reviewing several underwear manufacturers over the past couple of months, there’s one common denominator I have found with those who are based and construct their products in the US.  It can be summed up in two words…well constructed!  I have several N2N pair of underwear in an array of styles and they are consistently made well and fit perfectly as designed.  N2N’s recent pair, the Freedom Bikini, is no different.

I wore these all day and to the gym in the evening and found them extremely comfortable.  Another observation is that these are very conducive to warmer weather as they offer extra freedom and breathable cotton that makes these cooler than your traditional pair of bikini briefs.  The baby ribbed material provides an extra sporty and textured look that gives their vibrant color an extra added visual punch (also available in red).

The spandex elastic waistband provides the appropriate support.  Likewise, the matching horizontal blue colored stripe along with the complementally red stripe adds an extra element, making these briefs both visually appealing and functional.  My only wish is that the front and back cotton panels included a little spandex or Lycra to give these a more polished look and ultimately a longer life.  I suspect that over time, the cotton will stretch out and not retain its intended shape and support.

When I was handed these pair of SnugFit Seamless Fishnet Trunks from Baskit, I visually convinced myself that it would be impossible to fit into these size small trunks.  However, when I examined them closely and realized that these were fishnet, I was less skeptical and thought, “Why not!”  While never considering fishnet as a serious material for underwear, I was quickly corrected and found these to be both extremely functional and totally sexy!

Their first test run included wearing throughout the workday and then hitting the gym later that evening.  During the course of the day, I couldn’t believe how amazingly cool and comfy this pair was with a snug fit that is perfect for keeping your boys in place.  The waistband, sporting the company’s logo, and blue elastic around the legs provide additional support to keep these sporty trunks in place.  , The construction makes for a breathable and flexible pair of sexy underwear with a blend of 90% polymide and 10 % elastane.

As shown in the picture above, the front pouch is solid material that provides the appropriate level of coverage while focusing on support in the appropriate area.  It’s clear that Baskit is an expert when it comes to both design, functionally, and the ability to create something inventive and thought provoking.  My only suggestion is to purchase a size smaller than what you generally wear as these have the amazing ability to stretch.  The trucks are also available in black with grey lettering and trim work.

If you’re like me, when it comes to the summer months, I don’t want to be bothered with uncomfortable underwear.  Having a pair that eliminates this worry and provides something attractive for the eyes is what investing in quality underwear is all about.

aussieBum says swim briefs are the hottest trend on the Beach this summer! We tend to agree. We wrote a while back that the Swim Brief was making a come back. They even wrote it up in the UK. I very much doubt we will see too much of it here in the states, but we can hope! We can be a bit Victorian at times in our view of underwear and swimwear. This holds especially true for men!

The Styles that are hot (and we can’t deny that they are HOT) are the Squad Boosterjock, League Brief, Inspire Wonderjock, Boosterjock Lose 1.5′ and the Classsic Wonderjock

Squad Boosterjock: If you want a bit of a bigger cut then this pair if for you. It’s made out of shiny metalic fabric and has the boosterjock front! Its not as small as the others but still a great suit

League Brief: This is a classic design. It’s a traditional swim brief that is very iconic of summer. Its perfect for swimming or tanning.(see picture above)

Inspire Wonderjock: These are similar to the Boosterjock in that they are a bigger cut. They also have the Wonderjock front so it shows off your package very well. I love the plaid patterns these come in. I haven’t seen the plaid in a very long time

BoosterJock Loose 1.5: Now this is what I think of when i see aussieBum. It’s the pure nylon swimwear that you immediately think Australia. This has the Boosterjock techology in it so you can bet that it will show everything off and it’s cut smaller then a traditional swim brief!

Classic Wonderjock: This is the classic of the range, as it’s so appropriately named! The pairs I used to see Aussie Life Guards wearing. I know we have all seen the pictures. This pair also shows off “your natural assets” as the website says.

Any of these would be awesome for summer! With it being half over up here, better get them fast, that is unless you plan a trip to Australia soon!

After a long break from writing about underwear, I have returned to review a couple pairs I’ve had in my possession for some time.  The next few articles from me will be playing catch-up in the world of underwear.

The first of these articles will be for the Rodeo Hipster from Croota, a nice, square-cut design with a forgiving pouch.  In the company catalog of designs, this would be the SP02 in grey and size medium.  This would be considered another great creation from Australia.  Over the past few days, you’ve seen reviews for other designs from Croota.  Seems these were accepted into the underwear world with open arms…or rather, open legs.

I’ve worn these a few times since receiving them.  I love the feel of the material and the pouch design couldn’t be better.  It conforms to your dimensions perfectly and allows them to rest in the comfortable material throughout the day.  The 2 inch (5 cm) waistband, in red, white, and navy, is greatly pleasing to me as I love a wider, supporting waistband on any pair I wear.  The leg openings are made from the same material (95% cotton, 5% Spandex), contrary to other brands tend to use a different material to cover elastic.

Not to bring down the happy mood created by Croota, there is one down side to my experience with this cut.  Through the day, there were a few times when I had to reposition the back of the underwear.  I guess it could be said that they rode up, not in the crotch area, but they did ride higher on the hips after a while of walking around at school and work.  Of course, this is just a small downside as I probably have a different hip shape that other who might wear the hipster cut with no problems.

Equmen recently announced the addition of two First Class Australian Cricketers to the brand’s list of ambassadors: James Smith and Michael Cranmer. Both passionate users of Equmen compression underwear garments, the two stars join the likes of NFL player Josh Bidwell and World Boxing Heavyweight Champ David Haye in supporting the brand.

James Smith is a powerful right-hand opening batsman who made his first-class cricket debut in 2007/08 after showing promise with his Ford Ranger Cup efforts in the previous season at the age of just 18. James has proven to be a valuable member of the Redbacks team and was awarded the W.H. Hayes trophy for batting for having the highest South Australian batting aggregate. James is truly one of the form batsmen in Australia’s domestic cricket competition!

“Posture and core stability are very important when I bat,” says James Smith, opening batsman for the South Australian Redbacks. “Equmen offers just the right amount of support and comfort to ensure my body remains strong for those long innings in the middle.”

Michael Cranmer is a highly talented, high order right-hand batsman and medium-fast bowler for South Australia who played in Australia’s Under-19 team at the World Cup 2008 in Malaysia.

Michael made his first class debut for the South Australian Redbacks on February 13, 2009 against the Queensland Bulls and in the one day Ford Ranger Cup on January 26, 2010 against the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues. The talented right-hander showed just what he is capable of last season scoring a total of 658 runs at an average of 41.1 with a high score of 166. At such a young age and with so much promise, Michael Cranmer will definitely be one to watch.

“The undershirts are fantastic for recovery,” says Michael Cranmer, all-rounder  for the South Australian Redbacks  “And, unlike the other compression brands, I can subtly wear the really cool looking Equmen under any type of clothing.”

As ambassadors for Equmen, Michael and James will be featured in a variety of brand promotions, demonstrating the functional health benefits of the Equmen garments, whether used for street or sport.

It’s been a long while since I reviewed my last pair of Male Power underwear.  Unfortunately, this time is not going to be any better.  I understand making men’s underwear more sexy and intriguing, but there really is a line where things aren’t as intended.  I’ve never been a fan of mesh clothing.  I do own a pair some would consider mesh, but the holes are farther apart and the brief is not totally see through.  The air flow is as unhindered as this mesh material without the less attractive look and uncomfortable feel.

The construction of this pair is quite uncomfortable to me.  The waistband, the leg openings, and the piping around the pouch have this leather-like shiny material that gives very little room for stretching.  It feels like there is a bit of elastic underneath the material.  The waistband, about ¾ inches (2 cm), cuts into the skin the longer they are worn, along with the leg openings, leading me to the fact that these wouldn’t be good for all day wear.

It saddens me that this pair of underwear did not work for me.  Being an occasional kilt wearer, I like the feel of the breeze wafting around the manly parts and this would have been perfect.  If worn with some type of support underneath, mesh-type underwear is preferable, whether it is a jock, thong, briefs, or this square cut design.  I wore my kilt not long ago at a local Renaissance festival and seriously thought about wearing them to give them another chance.  I couldn’t bring myself to wear them when remembering back to the first time I tried to wear them.  I couldn’t wear them for eight hours without pulling them off and stuffing them into my pocket.

I have written an article in the past for Candyman.  It was the seaman brief with the chain and anchor pattern.  I loved the fit of that selection.  This brief, known only as the 9525 brief, failed to deliver that same great fit.

The overall look of the brief is great.  I can definitely see the sex appeal it would create.  Actually, just before writing this article, a very handsome gentleman I’m acquainted with put them on for a little modeling session.  I have to say with his skin tone, his lovely Italian body hair, and his great build, this pair of underwear looked fantastic and would easily take the breath away from any onlooker.  The pouch, generously filled….the rear, greatly accentuated.

But, I digress.  When I wore the brief, its construction seemed a bit far fetched.  The back wasn’t as uncomfortable as the front.  There is a stretchable seam that runs from the top of the pouch under and up to the waistband in the back.  The seam sits neatly in the crack, but it irritates the manly parts in the pouch.  It basically tells your rod, “Hey, pick a side!”  For those men who are more endowed, the seam will serve as a nice attribute as it allows the pouch to expand outward.  I felt it to be unnecessary for me and a cause for irritation.  As with a previously reviewed pair of underwear, these briefs had to be taken off before I arrived back home.

The brief is made of 90% nylon and 10% Spandex, making a nice stretchy and smooth combination.  The waistband is 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) and doesn’t cut in at all.  That’s always good!  Not taking the seam into consideration, the brief feels awesome.  It is definitely a brief I would love to feel against me all day.
